    The most common causes of ignition switch failure

    In the seventh VAZ model, the ignition switch consists of two main parts:

    • contact group to which the wires are connected.

    6. In the second position, the 30/50 chain is checked, while the key must be held, otherwise it will return back under the pressure of the spring.
    7. In position “III”, the power supply to circuits 30/1 and 30/1NT is monitored.

    When to replace

    It is quite easy to identify mechanical problems. You just need to externally inspect the part for cracks or deformation. If jamming or sudden jumps occur when the key rotates, the mechanism requires replacement.

    Diagnostics of the contact group requires a control device that will show the presence of voltage on the starter when the ignition is turned on. If there is no such device, you can use a regular “control” - a light bulb with two outgoing wires. If when you turn the key all the way, the lamp does not light up, it means that the signal is not being received and the contact group is not working. Therefore, the mechanism needs to be changed.

    6. Disconnect the wires from the ignition contact group.
    7. Insert an awl into the flat hole on the bracket and press the latch to move the latch. Remove the fastening bolt and use an awl to press the lock through the flat hole.
    8. We pry the mechanism with a flat screwdriver and remove it from the bracket. After removing the bolts and pressing the lock, the ignition switch can be easily pulled out

    If you decide to replace only the contact group, you will need to remove the ring with a flat screwdriver - and the part will come off. When installing new contacts, it is necessary to place the groove on the secret part so that a slight engagement occurs. After that, we clamp everything with a spring ring.

    Installing a new lock proceeds as follows:

    1. Insert the key and turn it to the “0” mark.
    2. We clamp the latch and at the same time insert the switch into the bracket.
    3. We connect the wires according to the diagram. We connect the wires by color, as indicated in the diagram
    4. We install the two parts of the casing and fasten them with bolts.

    Tip: When connecting pins, it is important to use the correct diagram. If you connect different poles, the wiring may short out, which will lead to damage to electrical appliances.

    As I already wrote, my door handle recently broke. An unpleasant situation, I decided to fix it as quickly as possible. I didn’t take a new pen because... they are plastic. I took them for disassembly and bought the SSSrovskaya one. Externally, the differences from the other 3 are insignificant, later, if I have the money and time, I’ll probably change everything) Well, closer to the point, I managed to remove the handle without removing the door lock, but I couldn’t put it back.

    For those who also encountered this problem, I will describe the installation process in more detail than what I found on the Internet:

    1) Unscrew the door lock (without this, no matter how hard I try, it won’t be possible to install it!)

    2) But you still won’t be able to press the lock, because the velvet is in the way. You don’t need to unscrew it completely. Just from the bottom is enough.

    3) We successfully press in the lock and pull out the lever we need.

    4) After this, we seamlessly connect the lever and the handle. Through the window for the handle, we install everything in place in the reverse order.
