The gap between the spark plug electrodes should be within 1...1.15 mm. Let us remind you that Lada Vesta and Lada XRAY can be equipped with a Nissan-Renault HR16/H4M engine. At idle, of course, the tachometer needle floated a little, but it was barely noticeable to the eye. This can lead to misfire, loss of power and increased fuel consumption.

    When we screw in new spark plugs, it is best to first tighten them by hand, and only then use a wrench.

    Advice for beginners: it is better to change them one by one: that is, first unscrew the old one and immediately install a new one, and so on for each cylinder.

    Although, it is quite difficult to mix up the wires! But I remember an incident with my father’s VAZ 2112 16-valve, when we put the wires on incorrectly and started the car - it worked like a tractor, all the cylinders were out of tune. After you have installed a new spark plug, put on the wire and carry out exactly the same operation with the remaining cylinders!

    • Dip candles into the composition and soak them in it for 30 to 40 minutes.
    • Rinse the elements under cool running water, and then treat with gasoline.

    • Press the latch without excessive zeal.
    • We turn off the ignition coils - this modification of the engine has a personal coil for each spark plug. To do this, use an E-6 asterisk to unscrew the bolts and remove the coils.
    • Using a 16mm spark plug wrench, unscrew the element to be removed and screw in the new one.
    • We put on the coil, tighten it and connect the wire plug.

    How to adjust the gap?

    Performing maintenance involves cleaning the electrodes from accumulated carbon deposits and adjusting the gap. This parameter should not be allowed to exceed the manufacturer’s permissible requirements. The process of the spark plug involves reducing the height of the central electrode with the simultaneous formation of a rounded depression on the inner sphere. This implies an increase in the gap, the value of which is subject to adjustment. It is set using probes and corresponds to the limits of 1.0 - 1.5 mm. If the gap is set correctly, the probe will penetrate between the electrodes with a noticeable tension.

    Clearing away cinder deposits

    You should resort to this procedure if the need arises and cinder deposits have accumulated on the electrodes. Here we do not recommend using pointed objects made of hard steel. Use a wire brush with soft bristles or sandpaper. Alternatively, you can resort to cleaning using a chemical or thermal method.

    Inspect the condition of the electrodes after 10 thousand km or earlier, if the engine prompted this by its capricious operation. If the intensity of use of a LADA Granta car is low, then inspect the spark plugs once a season (twice a year).

    Replacing spark plugs is very common, and the owner of a Lada Granta is not provided with a full guarantee of the high-quality functioning of the system and, accordingly, the engine. Also, no one will undertake to claim that the new spark plug will withstand the regulatory service life of 30 thousand km.

    We change spark plugs if the following circumstances occur:

    • there were signs of a poor (not the first time) engine starting;

    The results of the tests performed are presented in the photo in the form of graphs. As you can see, it still makes sense to buy imports: using spark plugs from Bosch, as well as products from the Finwhale, Brisk and Champion brands will provide a noticeable increase in power. If you want to save on fuel, then ask for NGK products in stores. Additional comments are unnecessary here.

    Forced engines are characterized by an increased compression value, and VAZ engines. By installing Brisk spark plugs, you don't have to worry about sparking at high pressure. But note that NGK candles have similar characteristics. It turns out that NGK products should be considered the optimal choice, however, recently counterfeits of this brand have appeared.
