With boxes 2181 everything is somewhat more complicated. Changing the oil in the Lada Granta gearbox can be done either using the control hole on the crankcase or through the switch hole. 3. We wind up a new “consumable”.
4. Make sure that the drain plug is tight (don’t forget about the new sealing washer - install it to replace the old one).
5. Fill in new lubricant in the required volume (do not exceed the level - there is a risk of damage to the seals);
6. We screw the plug on the filler neck, start the Lada Granta engine and observe.

The monitoring process is necessary for the following purposes:

• make sure there are no oil leaks through the new filter (if there is one, “press” the element by tightening it);
• make sure that the filter is suitable and the LADA Granta lubrication system is functioning normally (this is indicated by the lamp on the dashboard going out after 4-5 seconds).

Changing the lubricant begins with preparing the car. Make sure the car is on the handbrake to avoid putting yourself in danger. Warm up the engine to operating temperature, then turn it off.

1. If access to the drain hole is difficult, remove the crankcase protection from the car.
2. Prepare all the keys, a container to drain the old lubricant, newspaper and rags.

• A hammer and a long, strong screwdriver
  . Actually, this method is used to unscrew most intractable filter elements. Since the walls of the element are soft, they are usually aluminum, or tin, and other soft metals. It breaks through very easily (just like a tin can). What we do is drive a long and strong screwdriver all the way through, that is, so that it goes in on one side and comes out on the other. And then we unscrew it like a lever. The most important thing is that everything can be done without a special key, and actually using the tools that are always in the garage. The only downside is that your hands are dirty, because some of the oil is always inside.

• Hammer and chisel
  . This is generally the method that they say “ATAS”, there is nothing to explain here, we take a chisel and “fuck” it with a hammer, the most important thing is to hit closer to the bottom, to the place of fastening, and counterclockwise. The case, of course, will be all dented, but the most important thing is to unscrew it. The downside here is not only that you can get dirty, but also that you can hit the engine block with a chisel. I personally recommend the method with a screwdriver, it is still less dangerous.

As you can see, there is nothing complicated, you can do without a special key, just pierce the housing with a screwdriver.

Replacement operation

It is recommended to change the oil only when the engine is warm. And yet, it would be better to drive the car into a pit. Otherwise, you will have to find the drain plug by touch. Only the replacement procedure is discussed here. A list of recommended materials is provided in Chapter 3.

Disconnecting the battery from the network

First of all, you will need to disconnect the negative terminal. Here you need a “10” wrench (see figure). Next, unscrew the filler plug, and then perform the following steps:

1. Make sure that the filler neck has been opened;
2. Use a 12mm spanner to unscrew the drain plug. It is not necessary to remove the crankcase protection (Fig. 1);
3. The cork is unscrewed as follows: make two turns with the key, and then, substituting a free container, unscrew the cork by hand (Fig. 2);
4. You have to wait until the oil drains out completely. Know that the temperature of the waste material is 70-80 Gy. Ts.;
5. If you change the filter, first loosen the fastening with a special puller (Fig. 3). The filter housing will be accessible from the engine compartment;
6. A new filter needs to be prepared: oil is applied to the sealing ring, and the filter itself is filled with new material (Fig. 4). In this case, 100-150 grams of oil (1/2 volume) are used;
7. After preparation, the filter is installed, tightened, then pressed with a puller (3/4 turn);
8. The drain plug is screwed into its rightful place. You need to press it harder, but try not to break the thread;
9. 3.2 liters of oil are poured through the filler neck (for all engines).

If the filter has been changed, add another 100 ml to the indicated figures. Steps 2, 3, 5 and 6 are illustrated in the photo.

The last step is to connect the battery to start the engine. It is necessary to ensure that the control lamp goes out. Then check the oil level using the dipstick and, if necessary, top up (100-200 ml).

This engine warning light should come on for a couple of seconds after starting.

Choosing a puller

What kind of universal pullers have not been invented to make life easier for the car owner. But any puller always belongs to one of the types: chain, rod or plier puller. Each of the three types is illustrated in the photo.

Everyone knows that universal pullers are inconvenient to use. Yes, and they are expensive. Therefore, sanding paper, cloth gloves, etc. are used. But it often turns out that the filter is screwed on tightly.

The outer diameter of the Granta oil filter is 76 mm. A part manufactured by Renault can serve as a puller for it. This part is shown in the photo, and it is called a “cup puller”.

1. It is necessary to pierce the filter housing with an awl or a flat screwdriver;
2. The screwdriver should go 40-50 mm into the filter cavity. It is then used as a lever.

9. Take the new filter, lubricate it with new oil and screw it into place by hand. When the O-ring makes contact with the cylinder block, turn the oil filter another three-quarters of a turn.
10. We return the drain plug to the pan and screw it in, insert the dipstick back.
11. We proceed directly to filling the engine oil. Pour oil into the filler hole, tighten the neck with the plug clockwise.
12. Testing. Run the engine for a couple of minutes. Check to see if oil is leaking in the area of ​​the filter and drain plug, and if the low oil pressure warning light is on. Stop the engine and allow the oil to drain into the crankcase. Check the oil level: if the mark is between the minimum and maximum values, everything is in order. If leaks are detected or the oil level is in doubt, tighten the drain plug and oil filter.

This completes the replacement process. It is advisable not to dump the waste material into the ground, but to use it again for any technical purposes.

Mastering these simple skills can save your car from breakdowns and you from unnecessary expenses at a car service center. Half an hour will be enough to complete all the actions, even if you are doing this for the first time.
