Methods for controlling the Centurion signaling

How does the Starline A93 alarm with auto start work?

The Centurion security system can be used on any type of car and is distinguished by the fact that in addition to standard functions, it is capable of transmitting alarm voice signals or SMS messages to any pre-programmed numbers.

This unusual feature requires certain preliminary steps to be taken before you begin the process of installing the Centurion system on your car yourself.

First of all, you need to insert the SIM card corresponding to this particular alarm set into any available mobile phone. Next, in the specified SIM card, you should disable the ability to request a PIN code when you turn on the phone. An outgoing test call is made for the new SIM card, allowing the card to be activated. After completing these steps, the ready-to-use SIM card can be safely inserted into the corresponding slot of the receiving-processor module.

Installing a centurion alarm system is not particularly difficult, however, when choosing specific locations for individual elements of the security system, it is advisable to use the recommendations below:

  1. It is best to install the receiving-processor module under the main dashboard of the car, securing it with standard clamps and screws;
  2. The GSM antenna is usually mounted on the windshield on the passenger compartment side, or on a free space under the dashboard. The antenna harness is connected at the shortest distance to the coaxial connector of the receiving and processing device;
  3. A place for an external microphone is also found in the cabin, based on the condition that it should be as far as possible from the GSM antenna and should not be obscured by components of the cabin interior;
  4. The motion sensor is installed in a horizontal position, in the very central part of the cabin, and the harness suitable for it should be oriented forward;
  5. Install the indicator diode at your discretion - the main thing is that it is in the driver’s field of vision and at the same time clearly visible from outside the car;
  6. The temperature sensor is placed as close as possible to the engine block, or directly on it;
  7. The siren is fixed under the hood in such a way that it cannot be reached even from the bottom and, in addition, there should not be strong sources of heat near it.

Attention is drawn to the fact that all the main lines of the security system are equipped with their own self-restoring fuses, which means there is no need to install additional current protection. The connection diagram attached to the text provides comprehensive information about all the wires involved in the operation of the car alarm, and the main lines have the following standard color markings:

The connection diagram attached to the text provides comprehensive information about all the wires involved in the operation of the car alarm, and the main lines have the following standard color markings:

  • Black wire body” - connects using a special clamping terminal to a carefully cleaned metal surface of the body. It is best if this wire has a minimum length;
  • Red wire “system power” - connects to the main power bus of the car to the +12V terminal;
  • Pink wire “ignition” - this wire is connected to the main +12V bus through the ignition switch, in other words, a potential corresponding to +12V appears on it only after the key is turned to the “Ignition” position;
  • Purple wire “hood input” - connects to the contact sensor for the closed (open) position of the hood.
  • Red-green wire “driver’s door” - connects to a separate door contact sensor on the driver’s side;
  • Green wire “closing central locking” – connects to the corresponding power output of the central locking control unit. The appearance of active voltage on it indicates arming;
  • Blue wire “central lock opening” - connects to the corresponding power output of the central locking control unit. The appearance of active voltage on it indicates that the vehicle has been disarmed.

The Centurion X-Line alarm system is designed to protect vehicles equipped with a 12 V on-board power supply. The product supports automatic engine start, the remote control with 2-way communication is equipped with an information display. Production of the equipment has been discontinued; Chinese copies of the product are on sale.

How to install

A brief sequence of actions required to install the equipment:

  1. The microprocessor module is built into the instrument panel near the driver's workplace (to reduce the length of connecting cords).
  2. The antenna unit is placed on the top of the windshield, which allows you to increase the range of the remote control. The patch cable is installed at a distance from the standard wiring and factory electronic components.
  3. The status diode is mounted on the top plane of the panel. The setting switch is hidden under the panel.
  4. The horn and locking relay are installed under the hood. It is necessary to provide protection for components from water and hot parts of the engine structure.
  5. The temperature sensor is located on the engine, the shock sensor is mounted inside the car and then adjusted.
  6. To install the factory harnesses, use the electrical diagram given in the documentation. Control of door and hood locking is carried out by standard contact units; some vehicles require the installation of additional elements. If the part is installed in a hole drilled in the body, then the metal is protected from corrosion.

Functions

The functionality of the device includes the following options and modes:

  • passive engine blocking;
  • requesting an emergency deactivation confirmation code;
  • step-by-step disabling of security functions;
  • arming the alarm with the engine running;
  • quiet anti-theft mode;
  • power control of door activators;
  • trunk control;
  • calling the user to the car;
  • silent switching of the system to security mode;
  • synchronization with the phone (when connecting an additional module);
  • energy saving mode;
  • flexible configuration of additional channels;
  • remote engine start upon user command;
  • automatic switching on of the motor at a selected frequency or at a specified time;
  • autostart based on engine temperature.

Advantages and disadvantages

The Centurion IS-10 car alarm has both positive and negative owner reviews. The advantages of the device in question include the following qualities:

  1. Availability of feedback. The display shows complete information about the status of the vehicle and the anti-theft system.
  2. Conversational coding. This method of protection eliminates the possibility of intelligent hacking.
  3. Possibility of auto engine start. When this function is activated, the user receives a car ready to drive.
  4. Immunity from interference. The alarm works smoothly in a big city.
  5. Low power consumption, helping to preserve the car's battery charge.
  6. Extended operating temperature range. The anti-theft agent can be used in regions with harsh climates.
  7. Ability to control the system using a telephone. Implemented when a GSM module is connected and allows you to receive alerts on your smartphone.
  8. GPS monitoring. Helps determine the location of the vehicle with high accuracy.
  9. Possibility of using a CAN module that ensures compatibility of the alarm system with all vehicles.

Most users consider the following disadvantages:

  • interruptions in the operation of the key fob (the security mode button often does not work);
  • short range of the communicator;
  • uncomfortable buttons;
  • no siren included.

Selecting an autorun algorithm

Be aware that autorun will need to be enabled:

  1. Press the F button for 3 seconds;
  2. Press the F button 3 or 4 times - this will start by timer or temperature;
  3. Each press of button 3 causes the “START” icon to appear or disappear.

When turned on, three beeps follow, and when turned off, four beeps follow.

Selecting an automatic start method

You can change all values, that is, interval and temperature, like this:

  • How to set up the StarLine E90 alarm key fob
  1. The F button is pressed for 2 seconds;
  2. Press button 3;
  3. By pressing buttons 1 and 2, select one of the icons labeled “START”;
  4. Press button 3;
  5. Complete the selection by pressing buttons 1 and 2;
  6. Wait 10 seconds.

In general, nothing complicated.

See what option 4-7 looks like. The first option, according to the instructions, implements the following algorithm:

  1. The temperature is checked at the specified time.
  2. Let's say it is below the set value. Then it will start.

The focus is only on temperature. But time also matters if we talk about “option 1”.

Operation and Installation Guide

Installation details may vary depending on the model, but in general the installation process is as follows:

  1. First of all, it is necessary to install the control device - the block. This component should be placed inside the car, in a place where the criminal cannot find it. Also, during installation, you need to take into account that exposure to moisture or elevated temperatures can damage the unit.
  2. Then the antenna adapter is installed. It needs to be installed in the upper part of the windshield, this will allow you to achieve the best signal reception.
  3. After this, the siren is installed. This element of the system should be placed in the engine compartment, but keep in mind that it also does not tolerate exposure to high temperatures and moisture. So place the siren away from the cylinder block.
  4. When these elements are installed, a service button is installed, which will allow the siren to be turned off in case of loss of the remote control. Please note that the button must also be installed in a place inaccessible to an attacker, but in such a way that you can quickly reach it if necessary.
  5. Then a shock sensor is installed. It needs to be mounted directly on the car body, preferably in the cabin, near the ceiling. Thus, its coverage area will be as effective as possible.
  6. Next, safety elements are installed; they are necessary in order to prevent the signaling system from malfunctioning in the event of problems with the network.
  7. Then all elements are connected to the control unit using the installation kit and wiring that comes with the kit.
  8. Once everything is installed, all that remains is to configure the shock sensor. It is necessary to optimally select the sensitivity of the controller so that it does not operate without reason.

Learning to identify the model by key fob

If you need to find out the model of the alarm from the control panel, then you have several ways to do this:

  1. First, you should inspect the key fob and its keys - the signaling model may be marked on the device body. Please note that this data is usually indicated in a minimal font, almost invisible to the eye, so you should take a closer look; alternatively, you can use a magnifying glass.
  2. If visual diagnostics do not produce results and there is no data on the remote control, then pay attention to the design. It happens that some models of alarms have key fobs with an original design, characteristic only of a certain type.
  3. If this method does not help, then you can try to search for information on the Internet. Today there are many sites where you can upload a photo of your remote control and get, if not an exact answer, then the closest one. But if the signaling model is very old, then this method may not help.
  4. The last option is to seek help from specialists - this could be an auto electrician or an entire service center that installs and maintains alarms.

Price issue

The price of a system is determined by its efficiency, as well as functionality. The cost of Centurion alarms ranges from 3 to 9 thousand rubles.

Characteristic

The Centurion alarm system is a system for protecting the vehicle in the absence of the driver. Almost all models of official or civil car alarms are characterized by their small size and stylish key fob design. Most key fob models use a pulse coding system, as a result of which the code will change each time the key is pressed. Accordingly, the use of interception systems and grabbers by attackers will not produce any results.

Centurion car alarm

In addition, many models of service and regular car alarms are equipped with two-level microwave shock sensors. Such a device will notify the motorist not only of a strong, but also of a weak impact on the car body. It should be noted that the device will respond to touches on the car every 5 seconds after you have activated the alarm.

As for the other features of anti-theft systems:

  1. Many models are equipped with a dynamic anti-interception code.
  2. Key fobs with control buttons are made in steel cases, which eliminates the possibility of them being damaged if dropped.
  3. The key fobs are equipped with special buttons that allow you to find a vehicle in the parking lot if you have forgotten where you left it.
  4. You can only turn on the central locking - without using the siren and shock sensor.
  5. If necessary, you can activate the car alarm while the engine is running.
  6. The system initially includes central locking relays.
  7. Like many other devices, the Centurion car alarm is equipped with a special service button (author of the video - Learning to drive a car. All the secrets for beginners).

Learning to identify the model by key fob

You don’t have many options to determine the car alarm model using the key fob:

  1. First of all, it is necessary to completely inspect the remote control itself with the buttons - often the manufacturer indicates the system model on it. This information is usually in small font and may be almost invisible, so take a close look at the device.
  2. If the remote control with buttons does not have the necessary information, evaluate its design. In some cases, the manufacturer produces remote controls with a unique appearance that is unique to a certain brand.
  3. If these options do not help you, all that remains is to use the services of specialized centers that service anti-theft systems. You can find several sites online where you can, in principle, identify the model based on one type of remote control, although this is problematic.

Benefits of using the system

This car alarm has a low cost. You can install it yourself, according to the instructions included in the package. Also, the advantages of using this particular system are the following:

  • multifunctionality of the security device;
  • communication range, from 300 to 500m;
  • support for automatic radio signal check mode;
  • There is an auto-start function; you can turn on the clock, alarm clock or timer on the key fob.

Experts in the field of car alarms note that the presented model has practically no drawbacks. The only thing that can be called a negative side of this mechanism is that there is no separate input for the volume sensor.

Video “Tango V2 model review”

A detailed review of this model from the consumer is presented below (author - Vit Shaden channel).

Profitable and reliable – this is how the manufacturer positions the Centurion Xsafe Bet

. Electronics, which has a noble pedigree, has appeared in a new guise on the consumer market and has captured a fairly large sector, thereby claiming a leading position. The new development is distinguished by the use of the most advanced ideas in the field of automobile security. However, in order for the Centurion alarm system to demonstrate all these ideas, the instructions

user must be read from cover to cover.

By fulfilling these conditions, the user will receive an exceptional product (again, according to the manufacturer). A lot of service functions and, of course, high protective properties will help make the car more comfortable and protected from various misfortunes. The alarm system is designed for installation on passenger vehicles equipped with any types of engines and transmissions. According to the creators of the product, the Centurion security system is capable of satisfying the needs of the most demanding car owners. Well, all that remains is to scroll through the user manual to make sure that what is said is true.

User manual

After installation, the user enters the necessary operating parameters into the unit’s memory; the alarm supports 19 programmable parameters, which are grouped into 5 tables. To start the adjustment, turn on the ignition three times, and then press the programming switch 2, 4, 6, 8 or 10 times (depending on the table number). A key fob is used to enter the desired value into memory. The programming mode is exited by turning on the ignition or automatically (after a 15-second pause).

The complete manual included with the product contains descriptions of the control panel buttons. To activate the security mode, use a single or sequential action (double or triple) on the button with the symbol of a closed lock. Successive presses turn off the shock sensor or siren. A complex press on the switches with the lock closed and with the silhouette of the car activates the hidden security mode.

There is a search for a car in the parking lot, which is launched by pressing the security activation button. Holding the button for a long time allows you to turn on the panic mode, in which light signals are emitted. If the driver places the communicator in his pocket, the operating instructions recommend locking the buttons (by briefly pressing the key marked Set, and then pressing the security activation switch for 2 seconds).

The equipment supports automatic activation of security by a signal from a 30-second timer (after locking the doors). The mode can only be configured when programming the central unit. The design of the head unit provides a function that remembers the last activation of the security mode. The communicator screen displays the zone that caused the alarm, and also gives 4 signals from the siren and 3 flashes from external lighting equipment.

The head module supports the programmable function of illuminating the area around the car. It is possible to install a 2-stage door unlocking; the first time you press the security switch off button, only the driver's door is unlocked. Pressing the button again will unlock the remaining doors. If, after disarming, the opening of the limit switches is not detected, then after 60 seconds the car is armed.

Remote start is activated by double pressing the switch indicated by the loudspeaker icon. After the signals are broadcast, the doors are locked and the engine starts after 5 seconds. The power plant operates until it warms up (the time is preset), and then stalls. It is possible to forcefully turn off the engine by pressing the key with the speaker symbol.

The alarm supports auto-start with a repeat after 2 or 3 hours (programmable parameter). To start the mode, use the button with the speaker symbol, then press the key with the silhouette of the car (after the side lights flash). It is possible to start with temperature control; the driver programs a threshold value from 3 options (-15, -20 and -30°C). The mode is activated using a button with a speaker symbol. The watch allows you to start the engine every day (by successively pressing the buttons with the text Set and with the image of a speaker).

The system turns on 24 hours after the security mode is turned on. The LED indicators are turned off.

Connecting and setting up a security system

It is recommended to install and connect the security system in a car at a specialized service center. However, if a person decides to connect the alarm himself, then it is necessary to strictly follow the instructions specified in the installation manual.

You must also follow several rules:

  1. Read the instructions. The first step is to study the alarm installation manual in detail and act in full accordance with the instructions.
  2. Safety precautions. Disconnect power from the battery (and do not connect it until complete installation), and also be careful, because this is working with electricity.
  3. Placement of alarm elements. It is prohibited to install elements of the security system near the pedals and steering controls.

If such work is being performed for the first time and the motorist has little knowledge of electrical components, then the connection should be made under the full control of an auto electrician. The alarm connection points are indicated in the diagram included in the instruction manual. During work, these instructions should be strictly followed.

Some alarm owners are wondering how to enable auto start? Let's look at the example of the Centurion Tango v2 security system; the activation principle is almost identical to other models. To remotely start, you must press the button with the image * twice within 3 seconds. The system will start the engine, turn on the lights, and the key fob will give a signal.

You can read about the purpose of the control panel buttons in the instructions, which describe each action in detail. Also, each security system has a service button (Valet), which turns off all security functions. It is secret and installed in an inconspicuous place.

Alarm characteristics from Centurion

The purpose of this anti-theft system, like any other alarm, is to protect the car from theft. Almost all models of alarms have small dimensions, which makes their installation easier, as well as functional control panels characterized by a stylish design. As practice shows, most modern systems use a signal encoding system, due to which the likelihood of intercepting a pulse and its further use is very low. This is because this system allows you to change the access code each time you arm and disarm the car.

Equipment and parameters

The Centurion alarm system includes the following components:

  1. Main control block. These are the “brains” of the anti-theft system, which essentially perform the main functions.
  2. Two remote control key fobs. As a rule, one remote control is equipped with a display and a feedback function, and the second is a backup one, which has only buttons.
  3. Advanced two-level microwave shock sensor. Thanks to this element, the vehicle owner will always be notified of possible impacts on the car body. If someone hits the tires or tries to break the glass, the sensor will interpret this as a break-in attempt and activate the siren.
  4. LED indicator. Thanks to the light bulb, not only the owner of the car, but also intruders can know that the car is under protection.
  5. System switch.
  6. A locking relay, essentially performing the functions of an immobilizer. If an attacker does break into the car and tries to start it, the relay will block the engine, thus preventing the natural movement of the car.
  7. Two limit switches.
  8. A set of wiring and mounting elements for installation.
  9. Service manual, which contains basic information on installing the alarm, its configuration and further use.

Twist model kit

We also suggest that you familiarize yourself with the main technical features of the alarm system:

  1. Most modern models allow you to protect the machine while the engine is running. This function is especially useful in the winter, when the driver needs to step away for a while, but does not want to turn off the engine.
  2. Availability of dynamic security code. This function allows you to protect the signal from interception by code grabbers and other devices.
  3. If necessary, the car owner will be able to use the signaling system as a central locking system. That is, you can connect the system without a siren, as well as a shock controller.
  4. Several independent protection zones, their number may differ depending on the system model. This means that if a malfunction is detected in one of the zones, for example, a limit switch fails, then the other zones will be fully protected.
  5. On most models, the control panels are made in metal cases, which eliminates the possibility of damage to the device if it falls.
  6. Also, most modern models have the option to search for a car in the parking lot. There is a special button on the remote control, by pressing which the siren will make several sounds so that the car owner can understand where the car is (the author of the video is Andrey Tyshkevich).

The lineup

Let's briefly look at the most popular Centurion signaling models:

  • X-Line is one of the most popular options;
  • I-10 and I-20 series models;

  • Bike Keeper - specifically for motorcycle transport;
  • IM-10;
  • XP V1, XP V2;
  • XQ.

Pros and cons of devices

It is logical that each device has both its pros and cons.

The advantages of Centurion are:

  1. Possibility of choosing a model in accordance with financial capabilities. If your budget allows, then you can buy the most functional anti-theft system; if finances are limited, then you can always opt for a more affordable option.
  2. Clear and detailed instructions included in the kit. Thanks to this, the car owner will be able to install the alarm himself in a garage without any problems.
  3. Durable keychains that can withstand impacts and falls.
  4. Multi-level shock sensors that allow you to timely detect a break-in attempt and warn the driver about it.
  5. The presence of an immobilizer is included in most models. This gives you an extra level of protection.

One of the disadvantages is the short range of action. Despite the fact that the range depends on the model of the alarm, in most anti-theft systems it is quite weak. Especially if there are obstacles in the control radius, in particular trees or buildings (video author - Alexey Tyshkevich).

The Centurion model XP alarm system is a reliable security device that allows auto-start. In another way, this model is called X-Line, and further in the text it is called the same. In general, the X-Line system was produced in three different versions. Here we will look at how to configure a system released in version V3. For the second version, that is, for V2, the instructions are the same - the differences will be the absence of some options. We are not talking about the XP V1 system - the tables containing all the options look different there. And the total number of these tables in Centurion signals is 5.

Typically, a car alarm is programmed as follows: by pressing the service button, an option number is selected, and the value is set using the key fob.

In our case, the process looks simpler:

  1. The ignition is turned on and off 3 times;
  2. The service button is pressed (2*N – 1) times, where N is equal to the table number;
  3. Press and hold the button again - N short beeps and one long beep will sound;
  4. The button is released and a new value is selected by pressing the keys on the key fob.

The first option always corresponds to button 1, the second to button 2. Press and the values will change: 1, 2, 3, again 1. To select options with higher numbers, paired combinations are used, such as 1-3, 2-3, etc. .d.

The default value will be set to the value indicated in column 1. By the way, intermittent blocking is an imitation of a breakdown.

There is a whole set of parameters that the owner cannot change. These values are always set in installation centers:

  1. Duration of pause before tracking of door sensors starts (option 1-4);
  2. Purpose of outputs connected to central locking (1-8);
  3. Central lock control pulse duration (2-1);
  4. Algorithm of operation of the additional output (2-9): a single pulse when the ignition is turned off after an autostart or a repeated pulse for unlocking in two steps;
  5. Input polarity (2-10).

Let's look at how to install the code:

  1. Set option 2-5 by pressing keys 1 and 2 for 3 seconds;
  2. By pressing the service button, enter the first digit;
  3. Turn on the ignition;
  4. If required, enter the second digit;
  5. The ignition is turned off.

The use of a personal code can be canceled. To do this, press buttons 1 and 2 briefly. But then the car alarm will be turned off in almost one action: the ignition is turned on, and then the service button must be pressed once. Still, safety must be the focus. And the instructions recommend setting the code right away.

We will consider options related to autorun. The owner does not have to change the settings of most of them: a lot here depends on how exactly the installation center performed the installation. The customizable parameters will be collected in tables:

The appearance of these tables is shown in the photo below.

Let us explain what options 1 and 5 mean (Table 3). Let's say a lineman was connected to the black-green wire in the installation center. Then:

  1. Use option 1 for option 5 as setup;
  2. If autorun starts successfully, go to option 2.

  1. Start setting up option 5-3: press button 2, as stated in the instructions, briefly once;
  2. Start the engine;
  3. Press the service button without releasing it for exactly 2 seconds;
  4. One long beep should sound;
  5. Press key 1.

If there was no signal in step 4, try changing the sensor sensitivity (option 5-4). The starter stops ahead of time - the sensitivity is increased. And vice versa.

It is also necessary to adjust sensitivity when monitoring is carried out using a voltage sensor. The installation option that is suitable for most cars is high sensitivity. If the engine stalls after starting, change the value to what was set by default. Please know that the installation center is not required to select settings for each vehicle separately.
