As you know, fog lights are not installed on the VAZ-2114 from the manufacturer's factory. This is an additional option that is available when selling a car at an authorized dealer. But sometimes even this node can fail. In this article we will look at the causes of breakdowns, as well as methods for solving them.
The video below shows how to properly connect the PTF to the VAZ-2114 wiring. A detailed connection diagram is provided:
Installation of electrical equipment and fog lights on the VAZ-2114
General view of fog lights
In order to understand why the fog lights failed, you need to know a little about how the electrical equipment of the car as a whole works, as well as the connection diagram for this unit in the general electrical circuit.
So, let's look at the basic electrical equipment diagram of the VAZ-2114:
General diagram of the vehicle's electrical equipment including PTF
And also, diagrams for direct connection of fog lights.
Reasons for failure
Now that all the electrical connection diagrams for the fog lights have been disassembled, you can proceed directly to determining the reasons for their inoperability or failure:
- Fuse blown.
- The light bulbs burned out.
- Oxidation of contact connections.
- There is no contact to ground.
- The button doesn't work.
- No power.
- Incorrect connection.
- Relay is broken.
PTF lamps do not light up (troubleshooting methods)
Now that all the reasons have been identified, we can proceed directly to considering the issue of solving the problem. For diagnostic operations you will need a tester, but for repairs you will need a set of screwdrivers, keys and some spare parts.
Now, let's look at how problems need to be solved in different cases.
Fuse blown
Fuse diagram in the mounting block
The most common problem among electrical equipment. A blown fuse breaks the electrical circuit, but at the same time protects the parts from a short circuit. It is worth noting that each headlight has its own fuse, so you need to check those marked F8 and F9 . The nominal current passing is 7.5A .
If both fog lights on the car go out at once, then you don’t have to go into the mounting block and it’s a different problem.
Burnt out light bulbs
Another common reason for fog lights not working is the bulbs burning out due to a short circuit or natural wear and tear.
New PTF lamp and socket close up
To check the serviceability of the part, we install a new lamp in the seat, and if it lights up, then the matter is definitely a failure of this particular element. As in the previous case, two lamps cannot burn out at once.
Oxidation of contact connections
Due to poor sealing, the PTF contact has oxidized
Often, another problem is that the connectors connecting the fog lights directly to the headlights become oxidized and do not make proper contact, which can cause flickering or loss of light.
In this case, the treatment method is to clean the contact group of the connectors.
No contact to ground
Ground wire from battery
The reason for the failure of the fog lights is that there is no reliable contact to ground.
This is due to the fact that the wire is exposed to the open air and is exposed to external factors, which can lead to corrosive damage. So, the method of treating a malfunction is to strip the contact connection between the wire and the ground.
Required parts and tools
If you decide to install fog lights on a VAZ 2114 yourself, in addition to the kit of the element itself, you need to have a suitable tool for the job on hand:
- Drill and drill bits;
- File;
- Electric jigsaw;
- Tape measure and marker.
Don't forget that additional wiring will be required, so you will need:
- Set of wires;
- Electromagnetic relay;
- PTF power button;
- Ties and clips for fixing wires.
Perhaps everything will come as a set when purchasing fog lights, but it is best to purchase according to the list and not be distracted during the work by unnecessary trips to the auto store.
Useful : 7 reasons why foglights do not light up
The fog lights must be connected via a button and a relay, since the system has high battery consumption. If you neglect this advice, you may later encounter problems with rapid current consumption while parked. A kit for connecting fog lights can be found in car stores, the price is about 500 rubles. And light elements from a good company Bosch will cost about 1000 rubles.
VAZ 2114 2115 2113 fuses and relays
Lada Samara is a general designation for the VAZ 2113 2114 2115 . They were produced with a sedan body, as well as 3 and 5 door hatchbacks, mainly with 8 and 16 valve gasoline engines. Years of production: 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013. During this time, some models were updated. In this publication we will show a description of VAZ 2115 2114 2113 fuses with block diagrams, their locations and photographs of the design. Note the cigarette lighter fuse.

The design of the blocks and the purpose of the fuses in your VAZ 2114 2115 2113 may differ from the one presented and depends on the year of manufacture and level of equipment.
What are fog lamps for?
The first prototype of the hatchback was assembled back in the year. And in combination with high-quality manufacturing materials, it ensured reliable operation.
Many PTF kits contain special decorative plugs that add attractiveness and neatness to the installed headlights and facilitate the installation process.
To summarize, we can say that in the first case, the qualifications of the work are minimal, and it can be done by yourself, without having specific knowledge, while working with an electrician requires a specialist who needs to be paid. When purchasing a bumper with holes for fog lights, you will need to purchase the lights themselves and all the necessary components for connection. Self-installation of PTF is the most common installation method, since it requires minimal financial investment.
Otherwise, the clip fastening can be broken, and during subsequent installation the casing will not sit tightly in place.
There is a gear on the motor shaft that meshes with the teeth of the rack.
It should fit between the door clip and the door frame.
Driver's door switch button. Installation of the VAZ 2114 engine start button. Do-it-yourself installation.
Main unit
The main fuse and relay box is located in the rear part of the engine compartment, in the installation department, under a protective cover.

Fuse box diagram and location on VAZ-2114, 2115 and 2113
Remember one important thing, before you start disassembling the stove, wiper, headlight or anything else - make sure that the fuse responsible for this circuit has not blown. And in addition to the fuse, make sure that power is supplied to the non-working unit, because the mounting block and wiring of the car Over time, subject to external factors and influences, it may fail. The wire can most often suffer mechanical damage, the connectors can oxidize, but a track in the fuse block can burn out or even some of the conductive elements simply rot into dust.
By the way, it’s not for nothing that we focus attention on the latter - the location of the fuse box in the “chisel-samar” family is not entirely successful, water often gets on it, and due to the design features and its poor protection from moisture, various troubles are practically “guaranteed” by the manufacturer.
Today we will look at the diagram and location of fuses and relays VAZ 2113, 2114, 2115

It’s better not from the ignition switch, but from the generator, that is. started the car and after a second they turn on, they will last longer
In bad weather conditions, so-called fog lights play a significant role in ensuring traffic safety. But, unfortunately, VAZ 2110 cars are not equipped with fog lights (PTF). Is it possible to install them yourself without breaking the law, and if so, how to do it? Today we will look into this issue.
