To increase safety (so that the driver does not start driving with the door open and for the alarm to work), cars are equipped with open door sensors (popularly “limit switches” or “limit switches”). Their malfunction causes the interior lighting to work incorrectly and prevents the car from being armed. Let's figure out how to check and, if necessary, replace door switches.

The Lada Kalina car consists of hundreds of parts, assemblies and mechanisms. These are, for example, wheels, steering wheel, doors, trunk, engine, etc. But at the same time, the car has a number of parts, the existence of which only people involved in the repair and operation of cars have any idea about. This includes the door switch Kalina, what kind of unit it is and what its functional purpose we will consider further.

Checking the door switch

When the rod is recessed, the contacts are open. First of all, we check the serviceability of the sensors by opening all the car doors one by one.

Check with a multimeter. We connect a multimeter to the limit switch terminals in ohmmeter mode and check the closure of the sensor contacts (the contacts must be closed, the resistance is close to zero). We press the sensor rod and check the measurements (the contacts must be open - the resistance tends to infinity).

Let us remind you that in some cases (for example, in the cold season) limit switches may work intermittently. For Lada Vesta, Grant and Kalina 2 you can use this solution, and for Priora this.

Alarm system "Lada-Kalina", part two. Password!

What should a motorist do if his anti-theft system suddenly fails - he is confused in determining the reasons, and he has been waiting for a long time for help or there is no one from anyone?

There is a reserve for this case. The developers have provided the ability to start the engine without reading the code key: you need to tell the controller a certain password. On Kalina it is asked by pressing the gas pedal. The algorithm is recorded in the non-volatile memory of the controller. Of course, initially this password is not activated: if the ignition is turned on and the engine is not running, then the “Check Engine” symbol on the instrument panel, without blinking, lights up. If the password is activated, then a minute after turning on the ignition the symbol will go out: enter the required numbers and start.

The procedure for recording a password is similar to training an APS.

1. Having inserted the training key into the lock, turn the ignition on and off, then remove it: the APS indicator flashes for 6 seconds - during this time you need to…

2. ...turn on the ignition with the working key. Three buzzer beeps sound, then two more - turn off the ignition and remove the key. The indicator blinks again for 6 seconds - you need to be in time...

3. ...turn on the ignition with the training key... Three beeps, then two - turn off the ignition, but do not remove the key. Soon, one beep will sound and the indicator will flash faster.

4. Turn on the ignition - the “Check Engine” symbol flashes. After about a minute it will go out - it’s time to enter the password. It must consist of six digits. The limits are 111111 and 999999. Choose to your taste. For this…

Purpose in different cars

Without the participation of limit switches in a car, even such a process as opening and closing doors, hood or trunk is not complete. If there is an unauthorized attempt to open them, the security alarm is immediately triggered, which is connected to the corresponding parts through certain wires.

Without the help of a switch, the lamp inside the car will not automatically turn on at night, the control sensor will not work, etc. The trunk lighting will not turn on when it is opened. The brake lights will not light up when you press the brake pedal if the corresponding part – the “frog” – is faulty.

The units vary in shape and installation location depending on the make of the car. The door elements of many cars are located in the door opening (slam). It’s just impossible to see where the door switches are located on Kalina, since the part is hidden in the door lock.

Method No. 2 (limit switches in locks)

Required

: 4 meters of wire, terminals from the ISO connector of the radio, remove the door trims.

Rear doors

:

  1. Remove the block by pressing on the plate.
  2. Open the plug on the connector.
  3. Insert the terminals into pins 1 and 3 until they click.

Front right door

:

  1. Remove the block, pull the fungus down.
  2. Open the plug on the connector.
  3. Insert the terminals into contacts 1 and 4 (or 4 and 6 depending on the configuration and year of manufacture of the vehicle) until it clicks.

We connect the limit switches parallel to the driver's door limit switch (you can have one wire to ground, the other to the driver's door limit switch).

If you cannot disconnect the connector without removing the lock:

  1. Remove three bolts securing the lock and one bolt securing the glass guide.
  2. Remove the door handle and door lock button.
  3. Disconnect the rods and remove the lock.

What's behind this name?

This is the common name for a limit switch. In it, two contacts are connected or separated from each other by means of a movable rod, but thanks to the return spring, they are not fixed. When not pressed, the contacts are closed. As soon as a certain force is applied to the limit switch rod (for example, when closing a door), they open and the electrical circuit is broken.

Visually, the part is a small switch, the task of which is to transmit a signal from it through wires to the corresponding control system when closing and opening contacts.

In the early releases of VAZ models, the weak point was the poor location of the door limit switches - in its slam. They were constantly exposed to the environment and often failed. Subsequently, modifications were carried out on Lada Kalina Cross station wagon, Lada Xray hatchback, etc. The parts began to be installed inside the door - in the lock, which is well protected.

Plus and minus - what is their difference?

The operating principle of automotive limit switches is almost the same for all. However, there is a difference in polarization. They are divided into plus and minus.

For the most part, negative limit switches are installed on the car. They are present in all VAZ models, including Kalina. The peculiarity of their operation is that when the door is opened, they short to ground (minus).

Positive limit switches are less common; they are present in some foreign cars and the Volga. To find the positive end switch, you need to:

  1. Find the appropriate wire and connect it to the voltmeter.
  2. Open the car door slightly. If the voltmeter scale shows +12V, the element is positive.

Why connecting an alarm system to limit switches is an important process

In all modern cars, an important safety element is the security alarm system. The main role in it is played by transmitting devices. The correct operation depends on how correctly they are connected.

If connected correctly, the effect in the Lada Kalina car is as follows:

  1. The security alarm system reliably locks the doors, hood and trunk of the car.
  2. In case of unauthorized opening, thanks to a properly adjusted alarm system, the car will begin to emit characteristic loud signals.
  3. If the driver forgot to close the doors or trunk, the system will notify him about this.

Limit switches are installed in the security circuit in two ways:

  1. General diagram, elements work on the principle of one wire.
  2. Individual, a separate wire is connected to each end switch.

Replacing the door switch on a Lada Vesta car

The design of the Lada Vesta limit switches is quite simple. The replacement work will not take much time, and the spare part itself is quite inexpensive. It often happens that the problem lies in the boot, which freezes in the cold - in this case, there is a solution: you can order a similar part with the catalog number “104035756”, and until the time of replacement, simply remove the old boot. The cost of such an analogue is about 70 rubles, and the quality of the part will not force you to return to this problem.

Thanks for subscribing!

After you have purchased a Lada Vesta door switch, you need to spend half an hour replacing the part. To do this, carefully remove the old limit switch, disconnect the connector and connect the new limit switch to it, then assemble the assembly into place. Don't forget to put on the boot after connecting.

An important point - do not drop the wire into the hole in the body, otherwise it will be almost impossible to get it out. But if this happens, then make a hook out of wire and try to hook the connector with it.

Good day!

Now I will “delight” (distress) the uninitiated. Those who periodically read www.lkforum.ru are in the know.

The background is like this. While looking for something (I don’t remember) on the LK forum, half a year ago I came across this thread: Experiment with locks. Check

For those who are LAZY to read there, I’ll just post a little description:

I accidentally discovered this thing: you put the car on the alarm, and then, if you slowly and very carefully open the door with the key, then nothing works. I checked it on several viburnums. The same. This is fine?

... You turn the key about 45 degrees, half of its possible turn, and slowly open the door using the handle without changing the position of the key. It must open silently. If your alarm goes off, then you are very lucky.

... you open the door like this: first you start turning the key and at the same time pull the door. It’s better to check on the interior lamp; if you can open the lamp without lighting up, then there is a glitch. ...

Read the solutions there.

I scratched my butt and went to check, of course!

So what do you think? Of course, I was upset... I was slightly shocked. My locks open too...

My solution, read below (like many, or few).

What is needed:

1. A pair of hood terminals from viburnum (80.3710A) - 100 rubles 2. soldering accessories (soldering iron, tin, rosin (flux)) 3. Wires (for extension) + 2 screw terminals 4. Electrical tape 5. Straight arms

Let's begin. Installation of limit switches

1. I bought a hood switch at the car market (not only Kalinas have these). In the photo I compare it with the factory one. Exactly the same!

2. At the same time I took the plugs to the limit switches. It was possible to do without them... Just a little more work with the soldering iron.

3. Unscrew the 5 screws securing the front sill trim and remove it.

4. Unscrew the 4th screws securing the rear sill trim and remove it.

How to find limit switches quickly and without any problems

In some cases, for example, when you need to connect an alarm, it becomes necessary to find the driver's door switch for the Lada Kalina. To do this you need:

  1. Open the “Operation Manual for the LADA KALINA”, study the diagram of systems and components associated with limit switches, as well as the wiring diagram that powers these elements. Identify the node by number.
  2. Study the overview of the operation of the alarm system installed in this vehicle. The installation points for the limit switches are indicated there.
  3. Use an ammeter to find the location points.

How to check limit switches

From time to time there is a need to check the serviceability of the limit switches. It is their fault that the alarm system starts to malfunction and the interior light does not turn on. It is recommended to check the functionality of the limit switches in a comprehensive manner, i.e. check the wiring first, and then the element.

The procedure for checking the serviceability of the wiring and door switch when the interior lighting is turned on and off incorrectly:

  1. We remove the limit switch.
  2. Using a voltmeter or multimeter set to voltmeter mode, we measure the voltage at the contacts of the wire block. If there is no voltage, then the lamp itself or the wires powering it are faulty. If it is there, but less than 12 volts, then the wire connecting the limit switch to ground is damaged.
  3. Switch the multimeter to ohmmeter mode.
  4. We connect it to the limit switch wires. In the initial (not pressed) state of the limit switch, the ohmmeter should show a resistance close to zero. If the device shows a different number, then the element is faulty. When the rod is pressed (contacts are open), if it is in good condition, the resistance reading on the device will tend to infinity.

Lada Granta "SONN" › Logbook › Connecting standard door switches

Good day to all!

Like many non-luxury grant drivers, after the purchase I learned with horror that the car only has one door switch, on the driver’s side. Of course, when installing the signaling, 3 more missing limit switches were installed. But who knew that they were already installed in the locks. Even the alarm installer was not in the know. AVTOVAZ simply regretted running the wires into the doors to connect them. At first I thought that the limit switches were even better in rapids, but winter put everything in place. In winter, the rubber band on it becomes stiff and the end switch “sticks” when pressed. But that's not all. I noticed that when the car is loaded (5 people in the cabin), when making sharp turns, sometimes the light in the cabin comes on, so the body plays and the door moves back a little, releasing the limit switch. As a result, almost immediately I wanted to convert everything to limit switches in the locks. But it took me a long time to get ready, the car is almost two years old and I just got around to it. But the work took less than two hours, I did it alone. For now I limited myself to the rear doors. The front ones are completely noisy, I don’t want to open them. YES and they work better.

Installation: As it turned out, the terminal blocks do not have terminals for limit switches, so in addition to the wires, you also need to install terminals. In the vastness of the drive I found that the terminals from the ISO connector of the radio are ideal for this task. Thanks bimulyk for this.

ISO connector of the radio. Carefully remove the terminals from the connector of the radio, do not look at the bottom part in the photo above
