The relay and fuse box is also called the mounting block or black box. If problems are identified in the car related to electrical equipment, first check the fuses and relays. If they burn out, we replace them with the same ones, but first we must determine the cause of the burnout.
Designation and fuse diagram of Lada Granta 2011
Now you need to study the diagram and location of relays and fuses. It looks like this:
I highly recommend going here. And buy a small handful of fuses. Let them ride in the car with you. They are more expensive in the store, and replacement at the service center will cost 200-300 rubles. As a rule, it burns out suddenly , and may not always be at hand. This is where this set will help you out.
How is diagnosis made? Let's say the cigarette lighter doesn't work. We are looking for the fuse that controls the cigarette lighter in the car. According to the diagram below, this is F20 - 15 Amperes. By the way, if the fuse is blown, then the sound signal will not work with it.

How to replace fuses or relays
First you need to prepare the necessary tools and supplies:
- Flat screwdriver;
- Driver for 10;
- Tweezers.
Next, place the car on a flat surface and, opening the hood, remove the battery terminals if you plan to open the power fuse box. If you need the main unit, simply remove the cover. Next, unscrew the bolts securing the pads and the board. Each element is checked visually and using a multimeter. Use tweezers to replace damaged fuses.
Features of the first mounting block
It differs from its predecessors in the number of fuses - now there are 32 of them. Many of them are responsible for several circuits at once, as in the case of the F1, which is simultaneously responsible for the ignition coil, injectors, engine control unit and fan. Each element is designed for a certain maximum current. For example, for F8 it is 30 Amperes.
The nuances of manipulating the power unit
In case of problems with the fuse box, you must act in accordance with the regulations. So, if one of the elements burns out, not only it, but also the current collectors for which it is responsible are checked.
Replacement of elements is carried out strictly in accordance with the instructions, otherwise it can lead to problems in the entire vehicle control system. It is important not to use fuses with a maximum power rating greater than that specified in the instructions - this may result in a fire in the electrical circuits of the machine.
We act in the salon
The main mounting block is located inside the car, on the left side of the dashboard. To get inside, remove the cover into which the exterior light switches are integrated. The “Lux” and “Norma” modifications also require disabling the trunk release button.
The required fuse is found using the circuit and removed with tweezers, replacing it with an analogue one. After all the manipulations, reconnect the negative contact to the battery and check the operation of the electrical circuit. If it is working properly, the cover is returned to its place.
Lada Granta relay designations
Now let's look at the relay symbols. There are 12 of them in total, but all subsequent releases and configurations (since 2015) can increase the number of relays to 18 pieces, and the number of fuses to 52.
- K1 - Relay for turning on the cooling fan
- K2 - Power window relay
- K3 - Starter relay
- K4 - Additional relay for controlling the DRL relay, low beam headlights, high beams, heated rear window, windshield wiper and washer, as well as a cooling fan.
- K5 - Hazard and turn signal relay
- K6 - Windshield wiper
- K7 - High beam headlight relay
- K8 - Horn relay
- K9 - Low beam headlight relay
- K10 — Heated rear window
- K11 - engine ECU
- K12 - Fuel pump relay
Common causes of fuse failures
- Natural factor - due to long-term operation of the technical device;
- Mechanical damage, accident, impact, collision;
- Short circuit in the circuit;
- Damage to insulation, oxidation of terminals, loosening of contacts;
- Water entering the mounting block, condensation formation, deformation due to high operating temperature.
Designations of relays and fuses for Lada Granta since 2015
There are many more fuses and relays here, since the equipment of the car has become much wider.
But these are fuses in the cabin. It's time to disassemble the fuses in the engine compartment.
We gain access to the fuse box in the cabin
In the Lada Granta, the fuse box, or as it is also popularly called, the mounting block, is located to the left of the driver. To gain access to it, you need to lower the protective decorative plug down.
Removing the decorative plug
Location of the latches of the decorative plug of the mounting block
Removed from one mount
For ease of use, I recommend completely removing the decorative plug and putting it aside. To do this, you need to remove the chip from the trunk opening button. The chip can be easily removed; there are no latches that hold the chip in place.
Remove the chip from the trunk button
Also, the chip is made for fools; you won’t be able to put it on incorrectly, so you don’t need to remember its seating position.
Removing fuses and contact relay
To replace (remove) fuses and contact relays, the mounting block is equipped with special tweezers. For fuses - small tweezers, for contact relays - large tweezers.
Auto-assistance
An electronic speedometer is installed on the Lada Granta passenger car, which receives information about the speed of rotation of the secondary shaft of the gearbox using a speed sensor. The main reason for speedometer failures to perform its function is the speed sensor. This is mainly due to the fact that dirt and water get into its location when the car is moving in bad weather, and as soon as its seal is broken, problems with the speedometer readings begin.
In addition to the speedometer, the odometer also stops working, the electric power steering is switched off at times, and the electronic gas pedal (E-pedal) begins to glitch. To make the electric power steering and E-pedal work, you will need to turn off and then turn on the ignition while driving, which creates certain inconveniences when driving. Therefore, there is no need to delay repairing the speed sensor.
If the speed sensor fails, then the speedometer needle goes to zero, and a check lights up on the instrument panel, indicating that a malfunction has occurred, which can be determined by diagnosing the error code. It is better to remove the speed sensor on an overpass or in an inspection hole, since access to it is much better from below than through the engine compartment. After replacing the speed sensor, it is necessary to erase the error from the ECM memory. This can be done by removing the negative terminal of the battery for about five minutes.
When the speedometer needle starts to twitch, and then it turns off and turns on again after a while, then we can make the assumption that contact is periodically lost in the speed sensor connector. If the driver does not pay attention to this malfunction, then after some time of operating the car, corrosion will destroy the contact so that the speed sensor will not be able to transmit signals to the ECM and the speedometer will stop working. Therefore, when installing a new speed sensor, seal it with sealant and electrical tape so that moisture does not get inside it and to the contacts of the block.
The electrical circuit of the speed sensor is protected by fuse F7 (7.5A), located in the mounting block to the left of the steering column. It can also burn out in the event of a short circuit, but if this happens, not only the speedometer will not work, but also the engine of the Lada Granta will become unstable. This will happen due to the fact that fuse F7, in addition to the speed sensor, also protects the circuits of the mass air flow sensor (MAF), oxygen sensor and canister valve.

Symptoms
Car components rarely fail unexpectedly. Breakdowns are often preceded by various symptoms. There are also such cases when the speedometer breaks down. These include:
- Partial or complete failure of the arrow. The device stops showing data, freezes at a certain level, turns on periodically, and trembles.
- Complete failure of the instrument panel. The tachometer, odometer, and instrument lighting stop working.
- The error signal “P0500” appears. This code directly determines the speedometer error.
- The car loses power at the start, during acceleration.
- The power unit is difficult to start, stalls at low speeds, and is unstable when shifting into gear.
- Complete failure to ignite a flammable liquid while driving.
- High fuel consumption.
Symptoms of unstable operation of the power unit can be directly attributed to a breakdown of the speed sensor. It is on the basis of its data that the ECU controls fuel consumption for engine idle speed, and also maintains the balance of the amount of mixture while driving at different speeds. The following will describe in detail why the speedometer on the Grant does not work and the reasons for each breakdown.
Mounting block located under the hood
In addition to the fuse box described above, Grants have another device with similar functionality, located under the hood of the car. The fuses included in it, called power fuses, protect the following elements of the machine:
- stove fan;
- generator;
- headlights responsible for low beam;
- electric power steering.
This unit looks like a box installed in a vertical position and is located next to the battery and coolant reservoir. Getting to the power fuses is easy - remove the top cover from the mounting block and you will have direct access to all elements of the block.
We act in the salon
- The fuse box is located on the left side of the instrument panel. Remove the cover with the outdoor lighting mode switch integrated into it. If the work is carried out on the LADA Granta “Lux” and “Norma” modifications, then do not forget about the need to disable the button used to unlock the trunk lock.
- Armed with the diagram, we determine whether the cigarette lighter fuse or the fuel pump fuse has become unusable, and so on. We look at the integrity of the thread and draw the appropriate conclusion. If the element is unfit, then we replace it with a new analogue by fixing it in the mounting socket. We repeat this action with the entire list of blown fuses.
- We connect the “minus” back to the battery and check the functioning of the electrical unit in which the fuse was replaced.
