Replacing fuses on Lada Largus

Preparatory stage:

  • A set of new fuses;
  • Rags;
  • Additional lighting if there is not enough natural light;
  • New relays to replace.

Algorithm of actions:

  • We place the car on a flat platform, open the driver's door;
  • From the end of the torpedo we snap off the plastic cover, under which there is a mounting block with fuses;
  • Using plastic tweezers, remove each module one by one and check its serviceability. This is rational if we do not know the exact number of the faulty module.

In order to simplify the process of identifying and searching for modules on the board, there are markings and pinouts on the back of the cover. Insert a new one in place of the faulty fuse and snap the cover on.

Replacing modules in an additional unit is no more difficult than replacing the interior.

  • Open the hood, in the upper left part of the engine compartment, behind the battery there is a mounting block;
  • We unclip the plastic cover of the power supply unit and use pliers to remove the faulty fuse;
  • If you need to replace the relay switch, then additionally disconnect the terminals from the limit switches.

Upon completion, install the housing cover of the mounting block in its original place. We start the engine and check the operation of the units.

The average service life of domestic fuses is 50 – 55 thousand km. Foreign analogues “nurse” for 5 – 10 thousand km. longer. If you encounter difficulties with installing the mounting block or replacing fuses, contact a specialist auto repair shop. The functionality of a number of mechanisms and units on a car depends on the quality of work.

Block under the hood

It is located on the left side of the engine compartment next to the battery and is covered with a protective cover.

Dear customers, in order to avoid errors when sending a 12V cigarette lighter assembly, in the “Comment” line indicate your car model and year of manufacture, new or old model.

A cigarette lighter is a device used to light cigarettes while driving in a car, and the cigarette lighter socket is also used to connect various electrical appliances to the on-board car network: first of all, the cigarette lighter itself, a car compressor, a mobile phone charger.

The cigarette lighter 253312702 is a metal spiral in a plastic case (insert) that is inserted into a special socket in the interior of the Lada Largus. When turned on (pressing the insert), the cigarette lighter is connected to the vehicle's on-board electrical network and is held in this position using special bimetallic plates, resulting in the effect of heating the conductor (incandescent coil) when an electric current flows through it (thermal effect of current). After reaching a certain temperature (usually after heating the coil red-hot), the bimetallic plates separate and the cigarette lighter insert automatically (under the action of a spring located in it) returns to its original off state, thereby giving a signal that it is ready for work. Lighting is carried out by touching the tip of the cigarette to a hot coil.

The cigarette lighter has a safety device against overheating and fire if the insert jams in the cigarette lighter socket (which can happen, for example, when the holding bimetallic plates are deformed due to an attempt to connect third-party equipment to the socket, although usually the opposite effect occurs - the insert stops being fixed in the socket).

The simplest such device is a low-melting metal washer, melting under the influence of elevated temperature, it short-circuits the power supply to the cigarette lighter, as a result of which the fuse in the fuse box blows, and the cigarette lighter is de-energized. However, such a malfunction sometimes initiated an attempt to replace the fuse with a more powerful one, or install a jumper - a “bug”, which, in turn, led to melting of the cigarette lighter wiring. To eliminate this, some cigarette lighters had a fuse built into the socket itself. If the washer melted or the fuse in the socket burned out, the cigarette lighter had to be replaced. Recently, a thermal reusable bimetallic fuse in the cigarette lighter socket has become widely used, which, when overheated, bridges the power contacts and leads to the fuse in the fuse box blowing, but after cooling, these contacts open again. It is worth noting that such overheating can also occur if there is poor contact in the socket with the plug from third-party equipment, if this equipment is connected for a long time and (or) consumes increased power.

The nominal supply voltage of the cigarette lighter in modern cars is 12 volts. “Plus” is supplied to the central contact of the cigarette lighter socket and the bimetallic clamping legs of the plug, and is transmitted to the outer side of the spiral of the cigarette lighter insert (from the bimetallic plates), or to the “tip” of the plug of the connected devices (from the central contact). “Ground” (“minus”) - from the socket base to the insert base, or the side contacts of a non-standard plug.

The cigarette lighter socket makes it possible to connect many electrical appliances and devices necessary on the road: a navigator, chargers for phones, smartphones and laptops, car electric kettles, and the like.

A common mistake that can lead to very sad consequences is replacing the cigarette lighter fuse with a more powerful one. At best, this will lead to melting of the cigarette lighter socket housing and the wires suitable for it, failure of the connected device and a short circuit, at worst - to fire and fire.

The reason is the fuse

Before you start repairing the VAZ Largus car cigarette lighter, you should check the condition of the protection. The fuse may have blown and needs to be replaced. A sign that it is the one that is faulty will be a non-working radio. The fuse is located in the mounting block, which is located on the left end side of the front panel.

  1. Open the driver's door.
  2. We remove the decorative cover, on the back side of which there is a diagram of the arrangement of the elements.
  3. Use your hand or tweezers to pull out fuse F38.
  4. We check the functionality of the system.
  5. We carry out reverse assembly.

When making repairs, it is important to install a fuse with a rating recommended by the factory - 15 amperes. Otherwise, in the event of a short circuit, there is a risk of melted wiring or fire. Do not connect powerful devices (more than 180 watts), the fuse will trip. The calculation formula is P=I*A (Power 180 Watts = Voltage 12 volts * Current 15 amperes).

Backlight repair

After preparation, you can begin to remove the part.

  1. We turn off the engine, open the hood and turn off the power supply by removing the wire from the negative battery bank. An alternative is to remove the F38 cigarette lighter fuse from the interior mounting block.
  2. We pry up the panel with the buttons (or plugs) for the rear power windows and disconnect the connection pads.
  3. Unscrew the screw securing the tunnel.
  4. We dismantle one of the parts.
  5. Unscrew the two screws under the side mirror control unit.
  6. We dismantle the two fasteners inside the glass stands.
  7. We pry up the gearbox cover with a screwdriver, freeing it from the clamps, and remove it.
  8. Unscrew the two fasteners on the left and right sides of the tunnel.
  9. Raise the tunnel and disconnect the plug of the car cigarette lighter wires.
  10. We dismantle the metal ring of the device.
  11. We take out the light filter along with the lamp.

Now you can remove the cigarette lighter, change it or repair the backlight (see video). Installation is carried out in reverse order.

How to remove the cigarette lighter?

To work you will need a tool. To remove the cigarette lighter on Largus or replace the fuse, you need:

  • screwdriver;
  • Torx key T20;
  • socket head 10.

For possible repair of the cigarette lighter socket or fuse:

  • insulating tape;
  • knife;
  • heat shrink;
  • tester;
  • new wires with a core cross-section of at least 1.5 square meters. mm;

The cost of a cigarette lighter for Lada Largus is 300 – 700 rubles. The device is sold as original and non-original assembly. The article number of the factory part is 8200046338. It is also worth purchasing an original fuse.

Video about additional cigarette lighter

Sometimes a second outlet is needed in the trunk or other location. For this you will need:

  • drill with a bit of suitable diameter;
  • files;
  • wire cutters;
  • cables, cross-section diameter 1.5 sq. mm;
  • insulating tape;
  • new cigarette lighter.
  1. We open the circuit.
  2. We find a level place.
  3. We cut a hole of a suitable diameter and clean the edges.
  4. We install the car cigarette lighter, connect it according to the pinout.
  5. We test the functionality and assemble the unit.

I suddenly encountered the problem of a non-working cigarette lighter when I wanted to connect the navigator through its connector. Before this everything was fine, I used the compressor and a car vacuum cleaner twice. The solution turned out to be trivial - replacing a blown fuse, but I had to go to a service station.
