The cold weather is coming, so it is extremely important that the heating system of your VAZ 2114 works properly. There could be a great many reasons for her refusal to work.
To prevent breakdowns, you should periodically check the condition of all elements of the stove and carry out preventive measures. However, it is not always possible to keep track of everything.
Today we will talk about the stove valve, which often becomes the cause of heater failure. Let's look at the main causes of breakdowns and ways to eliminate them.
Main malfunctions of the VAZ 2114 heater valve
It is not clear why, but it is this element of the cooling system that fails more often than others. This usually happens in the fall, when there is a need to use a heater. There are only two main reasons for crane failure:
- souring of the locking device;
- depressurization of the housing (leaking).
In the first case, it turns out to be impossible to open or close the tap. Oxidative processes inside lead to the elements of the locking mechanism sticking to each other.
Using force to remove constipation can lead to its complete destruction. This breakdown is not critical, and allows you to operate the car in the warm season. It is enough to simply block the flow of air into the cabin using a damper.
If a leak is detected, it is not recommended to use the car. Violation of the tightness of the valve body is manifested by the following symptoms:
- decrease in coolant level;
- presence of a characteristic odor in the cabin;
- the appearance of a greasy coating on the windshield;
- traces of coolant on rubber mats or carpet under the glove compartment.
It is worth noting that the heater valve has a non-separable body, which is why it cannot be repaired. Only replacing it will help here.
Types of stove heater taps
There are several types of heater taps suitable for one car model.
- Standard factory plastic faucet with a rubber membrane as a locking mechanism. As is often the case with domestic car models of past years, this crane is the least expensive and the most unreliable. Such a faucet “likes” to oxidize, stick and rust.
- Ball valve. In such a unit, instead of a rubber membrane, a ball with holes is installed. This design of the part is much more reliable, but still does not prevent oxidation. The cost of a ball valve is much higher than a standard factory one.
- The ceramic heater tap consists of a plastic body and two ceramic plates that perform shut-off functions. The most reliable option for a stove heater tap, however, due to the low throughput of a ceramic tap, its heat transfer is low. In addition, ceramic taps are prone to leaks. A ceramic tap is the most expensive option for stove heater taps.
Causes of breakdowns
It so happens that replacing the VAZ-2114 heater tap occurs more often than working with other elements of the car’s heater. Apparently, even at the production stage, the engineers did not think through this unit well.
The heater valve breaks for two reasons:
- Locking devices become sour. Because of this, the driver cannot open or close the tap. Oxidation provokes sticking of the locking elements to each other. If you use force, you risk breaking the locking devices. This is not so scary in the warm season, since air flows can be controlled by dampers. How to check the faucets of the VAZ-2114 stove for souring? Just give it a spin. If this requires a lot of force, the element is worn out and needs to be replaced.
- Violation of tightness. Depressurization entails a leak of coolant. Such a breakdown is indicated by a decrease in the coolant level, the appearance of a smell of antifreeze or antifreeze inside the car, the formation of greasy spots on the windshield and traces of coolant on the floor (in the glove compartment area, at the feet of the front passenger). Checking for leaks is easy. If it is broken, you will notice it immediately by characteristic signs.
Important! The stove faucet has a non-separable body. Therefore it is impossible to repair it. If an element breaks, you only need to replace it.
Work algorithm
The faucet can be replaced in two ways - with full or partial drainage of antifreeze.
The first option is suitable for those who decide to simultaneously replace the antifreeze. Before starting work, unscrew the drain plugs and wait for the coolant to drain into the container, after which we proceed to remove the assembly.
Replacement with partial drainage is suitable for those who have a supply of antifreeze for refilling. We place a container under the car at the junction of the cooling system pipe with the tap and disconnect this pipe, after which we lift its end up and fix it in this position. The loss of antifreeze will be 1.0-1.5 liters (it will drain from the heater), while the coolant will remain in the cooling system, but we will replace it after the work is completed.
Replacing the faucet of the VAZ-2114 stove is carried out using the following technology:
Loosen the clamps
Disconnecting the heater tap rod of the VAZ 2114
- We place the car on a pit or overpass and wait until the engine cools down (not completely, but so that it remains warm).
- Drain the antifreeze (partially or completely).
- We disconnect the coolant supply and drain from the faucet on the side of the engine compartment.
- In the passenger compartment, remove the side decorative trim of the console on the passenger side.
- We loosen the clamps securing the pipes to the faucet fittings in the cabin and disconnect the pipes, having first placed a rag under them. If you plan to replace the pipes, you can disconnect them from the heater radiator and remove the faucet along with the pipes.
- Disconnect the control mechanism cable from the locking diaphragm axis lever. If it is not possible to separate them from the passenger side, then you can get to them from the driver’s side (after first removing the plastic trim).
- We climb under the car. We find two nuts securing the faucet body to the engine shield and unscrew them and remove the washers from the studs.
- We move into the cabin and remove the unit.
We recommend: Cars with the most expensive maintenance!!!
Assembly is performed in the same sequence as dismantling.

Purpose and principle of operation of the heater tap on the VAZ 2107
In short, the purpose of the stove tap is to give the driver the opportunity to switch between “summer” and “winter” modes of heating the interior. To understand what we are talking about, you need to understand how the heating system of the “seven” works.
The fuel taps on all “sevens” without exception were membrane valves
So, the VAZ 2107 engine is cooled by antifreeze circulating in the so-called jacket. Antifreeze passes through the jacket, picks up heat from the engine and heats up to a boil. This boiling liquid must be cooled somehow. To do this, antifreeze is directed through a system of special pipes from the jacket to the main radiator, which is continuously blown by a massive fan.
The 7 engine cooling system has two radiators: the main one and the heating one.
Passing through the main radiator, the antifreeze cools and goes back into the engine for the next cooling cycle. The radiator (which in the early “sevens” was made exclusively of copper) becomes very hot after antifreeze passes through. And the fan, which continuously blows on this radiator, creates a powerful flow of hot air. In cold weather, this air is directed into the cabin.
More information about the VAZ 2107 cooling system: https://bumper.guru/klassicheskie-modeli-vaz/sistema-ohdazhdeniya/radiator-vaz-2107.html
In addition to the main radiator, the “seven” has a small heating radiator. It is on this that the heating tap is installed.
The heating valve on the “seven” is attached directly to the stove radiator
In winter, this tap is constantly open, so that hot antifreeze from the main radiator goes to the stove radiator, heating it too. The small radiator has its own small fan, which supplies heated air directly into the car’s interior through special air lines.
The heating system of the “seven” has its own fan and a complex system of air ducts
In summer there is no need to heat the interior, so the driver closes the heating tap. This makes it possible to use a heating fan without heating the interior (for example, for ventilation, or when the windows are fogged up). That is, a heating tap is necessary to quickly switch between small and large antifreeze circulation circles in the “seven” heating system.
HOW TO CHANGE THE STOVE TAP WITH YOUR OWN HANDS?
You will need a pit to work with because the heater valve is located at the bottom of the hood, under the side trim on the passenger side. Replacing the stove valve on a VAZ 2114 is carried out in several stages:
- On the faucet, you need to brush the fasteners, rinse them with brake fluid, and leave them for a while so that the fluid cleans the threads on the studs and the nuts are easier to unscrew. To wash studs, it is better to use WD-40, if available. This is an important stage in the work, because rusted bolts can grab the nut so much that unscrewing them becomes problematic. Sometimes when unscrewing nuts, the bolts need to be held with an additional wrench or pliers.
- In the cabin, remove the side trim. Now you can see the pipes leading to the tap. Loosen the hose clamps and remove the hoses one by one. At the same time, keep a container with antifreeze near you, which you immediately place under the emptied pipes so that the remaining antifreeze flows out.
- If you decide to replace the hoses, they must also be released from the radiator. But if they are in satisfactory condition, then when you start assembling, you will only need sealant.
- Return to the pit and use a 10mm wrench to unscrew the nuts holding the tap in place.
- Go back to the body again and try to remove the heater valve of the VAZ 2114 towards the passenger seat. In this position, remove the lock and release the cable that controls the tap.
- Now you can install the new faucet. First put the cable on it, secure it with a spring clip, and only then can you screw it into place. Install O-rings between the valve and the body. Use sealant to secure the stove pipes in place. Don't forget to pour the antifreeze back into the radiator at the end.
Replacing the stove valve of the VAZ 2115, as well as the VAZ 2113, is carried out in the sequence described above. The design of the heater in these VAZ models is the same as that of the VAZ 2108.
Repair of VAZ 2114 crane
As a rule, faucets are not repairable and if they become sour, leak, or changing the lever does not produce the desired result, they are replaced. This is much faster than trying to repair it. But what if it is not possible to buy a new faucet, and the problem has already occurred? Then there is only one way out - to try to repair the heater control valve. When liquid runs out from under the rod, you, of course, are unlikely to be able to somehow eliminate this, because only a few can select bushings or machine a new rod and sealing rings. But if the through pipe bursts or shrinks, then installing a tube of the same diameter into it and coating it with sealant will help for a while.
In the case when we are dealing with plastic, the cause of the leak is a damaged rubber membrane; the problem is also fixable, although not simple. You need to remove the valve from the heater and disassemble it. You will have two parts: the body itself and the lid with a cone and cuff. To remove the cover from the body, it is necessary to cut off the rolling belt from the side of the cover. The easiest way to do this is with an electric drill, in the chuck of which you attach a chisel or scraper.
Where to loosen the clamps
Next we have to do the flaring. To do this, drill 4 holes through (size from 0.1 to 3 mm.). This should be done strictly along the edge of the rolling. Do not allow the drill to deviate towards the middle of the cover. If this happens, further work on repairing the VAZ 2114 crane will be greatly complicated due to damage to the sealing band located on the seating surface of the cuff in the body.
The next step is to drill out the rivet that is in the cone, remove the old cuff and the remains of the rivet. You will get a hole where you need to make an M4 thread.
The new cuff can be cut from a car inner tube (preferably from a truck). The heater valve must be in the closed position. Next, you need to cut along the contour of the cover (top), making four holes for fasteners at their location (along the edges and in the middle).
A new cuff is secured to the top of the cover using a screw (M4 - the hole for it is already ready), as well as the valve itself, then you need to align the holes and tighten them with screws (M3). In this case, the nuts will be on the side of the cover.
Inlet pipe
In general, the work on repairing the VAZ 2114 heating tap is completed; now we check the tightness by first closing the outlet channel and blowing from the inlet pipe.
Think about whether you have the strength to repair it yourself? No? Then there is only one way out - only replacement.

Replacing the VAZ-2115 heater tap most often worries the owner of a domestic vehicle in two cases - if the switch has soured or the motorist has discovered an antifreeze leak that has occurred in the housing.
Heater valve VAZ-2115
The VAZ-2115 heater valve, which required repair due to the first problem, is most often changed in the spring-autumn period, when with the onset of the first noticeable cold or spring warmth, the motorist does not turn on the switch, fixing it only in one extreme position (closed or open) . As a rule, souring of an element occurs due to its being in one position for a long time.
In turn, replacing the stove tap due to a second malfunction is the result of normal aging of the seals.
The heating must always be in working order, if, for example, the first case does not threaten the car owner with huge problems in the future, then the second situation should be paid attention to immediately, the cost of the consequences of such an antifreeze leak can result in a cost that is several times higher than the price of the faucet. It is worth noting that, along with other important procedures, qualified specialists recommend replacing the stove filter every fall; this element of the system is often clogged with leaves and other debris, which reduces the flow of air entering the cabin.
Reasons for replacement
If the heater valve fails, it will have to be replaced. There are two main reasons that lead to the need for such a procedure.
Cause | Explanation |
Oxidation | Due to oxidation, the performance of the faucet is significantly reduced. This is not the most difficult problem, but difficulties may arise when constantly opening and closing the faucet. It's better to replace it right away |
Coolant leak | This problem is more complicated and can bring more problems. This is due not only to the likelihood that the interior will be filled with antifreeze, which will have to be washed out. Coolant leakage leads to engine overheating. |
Agree, it would be a shame to spend a lot of money on restoring or even replacing the power unit if the reason for this is a banal breakdown of the stove faucet.
To prevent such problems, we strongly recommend that at the first sign of failure of this unit, you take appropriate repair actions.
We recommend: Lubricating compounds for guides and calipers - which lubricants are better and why
How to determine a breakdown
There are several ways to detect that something is wrong with the stove:
- Inspect the unit visually;
- Check the current coolant level and monitor it if it drops sharply;
- Raise all the carpets inside the cabin, determine if there are any traces of coolant on the floor;
- Check the operation of the radiator;
- Make sure that the pipes through which the liquid passes are intact.
Traces of leakage
If the warm air supply regulator, that is, the faucet, cannot be repaired, it cannot be repaired, then be sure to urgently replace the unit. To do this, it is not at all necessary to go to a service station. This kind of work can easily be done with your own hands.
Choice
Before replacing, you must purchase a new faucet. Today, manufacturers offer VAZ 2114 owners a choice of three options:
- Factory product;
- Ball valve;
- Regulator made of ceramic plate.
Each of them has its own advantages and disadvantages, so it is impossible to single out a clear favorite among the presented options. Decide for yourself based on the cost and functionality of the unit.
Replacing the heater valve on a VAZ 2114
Today on sale you can find taps with a metal shut-off device and with a ceramic one. The latter are considered more reliable, as they are resistant to oxidative processes, however, as far as tightness is concerned, models with a metal lock are in no way inferior to them.
There are also valves with a ball locking mechanism, but they are also not particularly reliable. The table below shows the models of heater valves for the VAZ 2114. The price of the valves varies from 150 to 350 rubles, depending on the model.
Manufacturer | Catalog number | Material locking mechanism |
OAT DAAZ | 21080-810115000 | Metal |
AvtoVAZ | 21080-810115000 | Metal |
Tsn-Citron | 8.5.2 | Metal |
"Road map" | 21080-8101150 | Ceramics |
JAVVA | 2108-8101150 | Ceramics |
Luzar | 2108-8101150 | Ceramics |
Tools and supplies you will need to replace the faucet:
- set of wrenches;
- Phillips and flat screwdriver;
- pliers;
- container for collecting drained coolant;
- rag.
First, we place the car on an overpass or in a pit. Let the engine cool down. Next you need to drain the coolant. This can be done by unscrewing the drain plug (key 13) on the cylinder block, after opening the expansion tank, or through the drain hole at the bottom of the cooling radiator.
Next, we find under the hood on the front passenger side two pipes leading into the cabin. Using a Phillips screwdriver, loosen the worm clamps and remove the hoses. If coolant leaks from them, substitute a container and use a rag.
Now let's go to the salon. In the front passenger seat at the bottom left we look for the pipes going from the radiator to the heater tap. For convenience, remove the left panel cover covering the radiator. Loosen the clamps securing them and disconnect the hoses. If liquid leaks, use a rag.
When the hoses are disconnected on both sides, go back under the hood and unscrew the 2 nuts on the studs securing the pump housing. Here we use the key for 10. We move into the salon and pull the tap towards us. Using pliers and a flat-head screwdriver, disconnect the drive cable of the faucet locking mechanism, after first removing the bracket that holds the rod.
We remove the broken heater tap. We begin the installation of a new faucet by attaching the cable and pipes going to the heater radiator.
Then we reassemble in reverse order. Once installation is complete, do not replace the panel cover. After pouring coolant into the radiator, start the engine and warm it up until the fan turns on.
We check the operation of the system by opening the damper, turning on the heater fan, and moving the valve control lever left and right.
We periodically visually inspect the faucet and the connection points to it for leaks. If everything is fine, replace the instrument panel cover.
Which heater tap to choose
The ceramic faucet from YVVA is, according to most, the highest quality.
For VAZ-2113-2114-15 models, a single valve from 2108 is suitable. The car is equipped with far from the highest quality spare parts from the assembly line, since the membrane valve is completely plastic. True, analogues have not gone far. So, the opinions of many auto repairmen differ regarding which heater tap to choose for the VAZ 2114 and other Samar models. Some claim that you shouldn’t overpay and just buy a regular plastic one. Others say that a ceramic one can last a little longer than 50 thousand km (approximately the same service life of a standard heating faucet) and if it is not possible to install a ball one, then it is better. And still others even advise redoing the system in order to move the whole thing under the hood, and install a regular water tap there to forget about the leak problem forever. Therefore, let’s see what the manufacturers offer us, what the price is for the heater tap, and decide which one is best for your “four” to choose.
Plastic membrane (original)
In the factory configuration, the machine has a standard coolant control valve 21080-8101150-00 , which has only one, and even then a dubious, plus: low price. But you have to pay these 60 rubles again and again, every season - the leak starts where the flow control axis is located. So, given the problems that you have to face due to the failure of your car’s heating tap, it’s worth considering more reliable options. Although, to a large extent, the quality of the stove’s membrane tap depends on the manufacturer, and there may be several of them. For example, a standard plastic heater valve for the VAZ 2108 is produced by DAAZ, and in several packages (one of them is specifically for AvtoVAZ). But besides them, on store shelves you can also find such budget ones as: Aroki and Grand RiAl. This means that the problem of unreliability may lie precisely in an unscrupulous manufacturer.
Ceramic heating tap
Ceramic Luzar and ball Chance-auto heater valves for VAZ 2108-14-15 from the middle price category and the same quality.
Of all the options listed, this one is the leader in popularity. But don't think this is an obvious choice. Quite often it fails no less than the standard one, and only lasts for a couple of seasons. It is chosen solely because the ceramic curtain inside the locking mechanism keeps it tightly closed. This is where the advantages end; like the previous one, it is also not deprived of disadvantages. Firstly, it is a higher cost compared to the factory and ball models. Secondly, the throughput in this option is lower than the ball one. Thirdly, there is a lot of defects, and either at the junction or from under the lever (damper axis), a leak soon begins to appear. Moreover, most often it is the latter problem that is the reason for replacement. And all due to the fact that at the factory the hole for the rod is made with poor quality and the rubber seals quickly wear out. If reducing the incoming heat is not critical for you, and the presence of a share of high-quality parts does not frighten you, you can also purchase a ceramic heating tap.
The situation with them is exactly the same as with standard ones, different manufacturers - different quality. According to reviews of many owners of VAZ 2108, 2109 and 2113-15 cars, they are looking for the Ulyanovsk YAVVA (spare part code 2108-8101150-12 ) which will cost 350 rubles, since it has good equipment (fastening nuts, washers, rubber sealing rings), aluminum body, ceramic insides. LUZAR LV0108 on the market (100 rubles cheaper, but few are satisfied with the quality, since it lasts for 2 years or even less), modified Pramo (21088101150P), quite expensive PEKAR (costs about 500 rubles), and also the Polish Avrora (HV-LA2108) and the very budget TSN 852 (even more quality problems than the Luzar).
Ball valve for radiator
This is already a more suitable part if you focus on the price-quality ratio. for a radiator ball valve (cat. no. 2108-8101150-14 ) is slightly higher than for a standard model, but the quality is also higher, but compared to ceramic valves it is even cheaper. However, here too there is a relatively high susceptibility to souring.
The market represents only a couple of manufacturers of such faucets: Ulyanovsk ( Simbirsk Foundry Alloy ) and Chance-Auto . One of the main disadvantages of the SLS ball valve is that it is very difficult to move it from the closed state to the “open” position. And this, in turn, negatively affects the stops in the plastic drive mechanism of the dampers and the tap at the places where the cables are attached. Owners of "Samar" probably encounter such a problem even with regular efforts. So, most likely it will have to be modified, but the thickness of the walls of the pipe and the quality of the plastic inspire confidence. But the axis, although it wobbles a little, but the ball rotates in the plastic inserts and holds it very tightly. Which is true, just like ceramic, over time it will flow along the lever bushing.
Water tap in car
Yes, and this method has a right to exist. Some people think this is an overly simple solution to the problem, while others have been using it for a long time without any problems. Below we will look at this option in more detail.
Choosing a new faucet
VAZ-2114 owners are often interested in what is better to choose instead of the old faucet and how to find a good, proven element.
Some will say that only the original faucets for the stove on the VAZ-2114 perform well. This is actually a misconception. In fact, the locking mechanism of such taps is based on a rubber membrane, and the duralumin body rusts and sours. Their only advantage is the price. The cost of a new faucet will be up to 120 rubles. But if the car is used frequently, the elements will have to be changed every year.
If you are replacing the stove tap, choose one of two options. Decide for yourself which faucet to choose, based on your available budget. Both elements are good:
- Ceramic. The locking mechanism is made of ceramic, and the body is made of high quality plastic.
- Ball. The essence of such a locking mechanism is a ball with holes.
The following manufacturers can be distinguished:
- YAVVA;
- Citron;
- Road map;
- DAAZ;
- Luzar (Luzar).
Node malfunctions
There are three faults in the valve of the VAZ-2114 stove, but if they occur, the unit must be replaced, since it cannot be repaired.
Crane breakdowns:
- Incomplete opening/closing of the channel. It occurs due to wear at the junction of the axle and the shut-off valve. As a result, a significant backlash appears, due to which, even when the valve lever is moved to the extreme position, the damper does not open the channel completely. This malfunction negatively affects the performance of the stove.
- Gate valve jammed. This happens because the tap has not been used for a long time and the moving element has become stuck and does not move. Attempts to open with force result in the rupture of the connection between the axle and the valve or the formation of strong backlash, which causes the valve to also become inoperable.
- Loss of tightness. The tightness of the unit is ensured by seals on the damper axis. If these elements are worn out or damaged, the liquid flows out through the mounting hole of the axle. This malfunction does not affect the performance of the stove, but antifreeze leaks will appear in the interior.
We recommend: Why did antifreeze turn brown?
The first two faults can only be identified visually by removing the valve from the car. As for the loss of tightness, a symptom of a breakdown will be traces of antifreeze on the floor mat in the cabin. And since a leak can occur due to leaks at the junction of the pipes with the heater elements, when leaks appear, first of all, find the location of the leak. If the faucet leaks, there will be traces of antifreeze on the body.
WHY DOESN'T THE OVEN TAP WORK?
One of the reasons for a non-working faucet is souring. As a result of corrosion under the influence of chemical liquids, the flag loses its mobility, and the tap stops opening or closing. If this happened when the tap was open, then warm air will flow inside even when no one needs it.
Sometimes a failed heater faucet in a VAZ 2114 leads to air in the system, the stove does not heat, and cold air enters the cabin.
But the most common defect is a leaking stove tap. Antifreeze gets into the car body and stains the floor mats. In both the first and second cases, it is necessary to replace the VAZ 2114 heater valve.
If you find antifreeze under your feet, do not rush to immediately buy a new faucet. The leak can come from a burst pipe; even the heater radiator can leak. First, find out where the antifreeze is leaking from, and only then go to the auto parts store to make purchases.
Dismantling and replacing the stove valve on a VAZ-2114
It seems that to replace the faucet on a VAZ-2114 you need to remove the instrument panel. In reality, it will be enough to remove the side trim piece, as well as the glove compartment. The main rule is to unscrew all the screws that you can see.
Right sidebar
The result of our efforts is what is shown below.
The result of dismantling the cladding
And now you can see two “internal hoses”. What to do next is clear to everyone.
What can you see under the cladding on the right?
Loosen the clamps installed on the faucet side and remove the hoses. By the way, antifreeze may leak here (it is poisonous).
Under the hood
Below, near the partition, you can see two “external hoses”. Loosen the clamps and remove the hoses from the pipes. Next, use a spanner to unscrew the two nuts (see photo).
All the actions performed under the hood
Let's go to the salon.
In the cabin
Without disconnecting the rod, remove the faucet (photo 1). Then immediately remove the “holder” (photo 2). And then, by pulling the assembly outward, it will be possible to remove the mechanical rod completely.
Three final steps
As you can see, everything is simple. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
What is needed to replace the heater valve on a VAZ-2115 car
If a faucet is leaking, it must be replaced as soon as possible. Otherwise, the coolant can seriously flood the entire cabin. In such a situation, you will not only need to make repairs, but also spend quite a lot of time cleaning the car.
What is needed to replace the stove faucet? You only need a few tools and supplies:
- set of socket and socket wrenches;
- Screwdriver Set;
- new part. It is best to choose modern ceramic taps, which are equipped with all the necessary sealing elements;
- WD-40 liquid;
- silicone sealant ensuring reliable sealing of the system;
- any container into which you will drain coolant.
It is best to carry out car repairs in a pit or using a lift - this way you can get free access to all the parts.
How to replace the heater valve on a VAZ 2113-VAZ 2115?
Removal: 1) First, drain all remaining coolant from the radiator. (You can see how to drain this liquid in the article: “Replacing coolant”, under the “draining” section)
2) Next, open the hood, and then find the place where the heater tap is located, and after finding it, use a Phillips screwdriver to loosen the two screws of the clamps that secure the hoses to the tap pipes.
Note! After the screws of the fastening clamps are loosened, remove both hoses from the heating tap pipes!
3) Then move into the car interior and look for the heater tap there, and after finding it, loosen the two screws that secure the hose clamps in exactly the same way.
4) Next, loosen the clamps of the same two hoses, but only in the place where they are attached to the heater radiator.
5) Now that all the clamps are loosened, completely remove both hoses from the radiator and faucet.
6) Next, get out of the car and go to the engine compartment, and then unscrew the two nuts that hold the faucet on the studs.
7) Now, having again moved into the car interior, remove the heating valve from the front panel.
Next, holding the faucet in your hand, using pliers, remove the bracket that holds the rod.
9) And at the end of the operation, when the bracket is removed, disconnect the rod itself from the valve lever, thereby completely removing the heater valve from the car.
Installation: 1) First, taking the new heater valve in your hands, put on it:
• After installing both hoses, put clamps on them, and then tighten the screws of these clamps that secure the hoses until they stop.
2) Then pass the drive rod through the hole that is present on the metal part of the faucet.
3) And then lock the rod with the bracket that secures it.
4) Next, install the heater valve in its place.
5) And then, complete the rest of the installation in the reverse order of removal.
Heating system design
The valve in question allows you to close or, on the contrary, give unlimited access to the engine-heated coolant (coolant) to the heater radiator. To enhance convection, the circuit also uses an electric fan. The latter pumps air, heat exchange occurs, and the temperature in the cabin rises.
The heater tap is located under the dashboard. You can access it by removing the side trim from the front passenger seat.
In the summer, there is no need for a heater, and therefore the damper remains closed, and, accordingly, antifreeze stops flowing into the heater. In this case, the system performs the function of ventilation, and unnecessary coolant circulates through a small circuit and cools in the main radiator.
The tap begins to be actively used in the fall, when the need for a stove arises. It is driven by a special lever mounted on the instrument panel. A drive cable comes from it, which, in turn, is connected to the locking valve mentioned above.
Causes of failure
Replacing the tap, in the case of a VAZ, is usually required if it stops working. This happens when it gets jammed. This happens due to the sedimentation of solid particles contained in antifreeze and metal corrosion on its elements.
The second reason is the appearance of a leak. It occurs after the membrane loses its tightness.
In both situations there is no choice - you have to start repairing. It is almost impossible to repair the faucet itself - it is simply replaced with a working one. The procedure is not complicated, but it is advisable to carry out all the work together with an assistant.
A leaking stove tap needs to be eliminated as quickly as possible, as it can cause many problems. The leakage of antifreeze directly into the cabin is the most insignificant of them.
More trouble will be caused by a lack of coolant in the engine cooling system - because of this, it can easily fail.
So, if the cabin suddenly smells of antifreeze, and a wet spot appears under the rug, then, first of all, it is the faucet that needs to be checked. Arm yourself with a flashlight and, having removed the side panel from the center console (passenger side), look into the opened niche. Please note that there may be a leak from the radiator, as well as from the pipes, which means it wouldn’t hurt to inspect them. However, more often than not it is the faucet that is to blame.
The process of replacing the stove valve on a VAZ-2115
First, completely drain the antifreeze into a previously prepared container to avoid leaks during the process of dismantling a leaky faucet. After completing this procedure, the following steps will be required:
- loosen the clamps securing the pipes that connect the engine to the heater tap;
- We clean the pipes using a metal brush and treat them with WD-40 liquid. This simple step will allow you to unscrew the old part without any problems;
- unscrew the nuts that secure the faucet. To do this you need to use a key of 10;
- We move into the car interior and, slightly pulling the part towards ourselves, remove the special spring retainer;
- disconnect the valve from the control cable and remove it;
- We connect the cable to the new part, install the spring clamp in place and screw the tap to the pipes.
Assembly is carried out in reverse order. When connecting a new faucet, be sure to use silicone sealant that is resistant to coolant, and also screw the drain plug into place. At the last stage, fill in antifreeze and check the operation of the system.
How to choose the right stove tap
Finally, we would like to give some useful recommendations on choosing a heater tap for your car. The modern market offers several varieties of these devices:
- The simplest option is a crane installed at the car manufacturer. It is built on a membrane element made of rubber, which often cannot withstand elevated temperatures and “sticks.” The solution to this problem is to replace the product. This is why it is better not to buy factory taps;
- a ball valve, which will cost much more than a membrane valve, but will also last much longer;
- ceramic device. The best option, which is deservedly considered the most reliable and durable. To make the body of such a faucet, a metal or polymer material that is resistant to overheating is used, and a pair of ceramic plates is used as a locking element.
Which faucet to choose for the VAZ-2115 stove? We recommend not saving on purchasing this part and choosing the most durable option. This will avoid frequent replacement and save a very decent amount of money.
About modernizing the heating tap
As already mentioned, the stove valve on the VAZ is not very reliable. Therefore, some car enthusiasts take radical measures in order to rid themselves of antifreeze leaks once and for all. The simplest modernization option looks like this: an adapter tube is cut out of the tap, and a simple ceramic water fitting with a ball valve is inserted in its place (and car owners prefer to install branded Italian fittings rather than cheap Chinese ones). The resulting design is shown in the photo below.
Car enthusiasts often install ordinary water fittings on their VAZ stove taps.
The advantages of such a replacement are obvious: high reliability and no leaks. But there is also a significant disadvantage: you have to open and close the tap manually. And to do this you will need to stop and climb under the hood every time.
Installing a stove tap directly in the cabin can hardly be called a successful engineering solution, especially if the reliability of the unit is low. So the VAZ owner will definitely have to change the stove valve, and the best thing he can do in this situation is not to wait for the coolant to flow under the passenger’s feet, but to install a ceramic valve immediately after purchasing the car.

Replacing the VAZ 2114 stove tap with your own hands (step by step)
Work is performed on a cold engine:
- Unscrew the side panel of the center instrument panel on the passenger side or remove the panel completely.
- Place rags under the faucet and the passenger's feet.
- Open the hood and unscrew the clamps of the heater outlet and inlet hoses, remove the pipes from the faucet and drain the liquid into an empty container.
- Move into the cabin and use a Phillips screwdriver to unscrew the fastening clamps of the heater radiator pipes to the faucet. Remove them and place a container to drain the coolant.
- Using pliers, remove the crane lever rod bracket and remove it from the hole in the lever.
- Then move under the hood again and unscrew the two fastenings of the faucet to the shield.
- Move into the cabin and remove the faucet.
- Install the new faucet in its place.
- From the engine compartment, secure it with two nuts. It is recommended to pre-lubricate them with anticorrosive agent.
- Move into the cabin, open the faucet completely and tighten the bracket.
- Place the pipes on the engine compartment and passenger compartment sides and secure them well.
- Fill with coolant if drained completely. Or unscrew the nipple on the throttle assembly and pour liquid into the tube until it is full.
- Replace the pipe, start the engine, warm it up, tighten the clamps of the faucet pipes and turn on the heater.
Prevention of breakdown of the VAZ 2114 crane
Following a few useful tips will help extend the life of your heater tap.
In order to prevent the faucet from turning sour, it is necessary to periodically move the closing/opening lever of the faucet from one position to another. This problem is especially relevant when the seasons change, when you drive all winter with it open, and in the summer you turn off the supply. By the way, in the heat or when you have to drive in low gears, in order to avoid engine overheating, it is recommended to slightly open the heater valve (move the control lever to the “red zone”), but to prevent heat from the radiator from entering the cabin, completely close the air damper.
Modification of the heater tap
On some faucets (in particular, very often these are Luzar and YAVVA), not only the locking mechanism itself can break, but also the plastic tube can burst, so to make the faucet last longer, you can select the diameter and insert an additional tube . Recently, the box from Luzar already has such a through tube and it is made of brass. According to many experienced car owners, installing a YVVA faucet without modification makes no sense at all - the passage pipe is flattened. And in its through tube it is necessary in any case to install a long (thin-walled) tube with an outer diameter of 15 mm.
It also goes without saying that regular preventive inspection of components is necessary - timely detection of problems will not only minimize your costs, but will also protect your health and that of your passengers from danger, since antifreeze vapors are highly toxic!
