APS-6 is a standard anti-theft device for Lada Priora/Kalina/Granta cars. On Luxe trim levels the standard immobilizer is activated from the factory, but on simpler versions you have to do it yourself. The article provides instructions for learning the key and activating the immobilizer.
The delivery set includes 3 keys: 2 black “working” keys (hereinafter referred to as RK ) and a red “master key” (hereinafter referred to as MK ) for training the system. The indicator lamp (hereinafter referred to as CL ) signals the programming state. Its rapid flashing (5 times per second) indicates that the learning procedure is being performed correctly. Stopping fast flashing means:
- wrong action;
- exceeding the time provided for completing the training procedure;
- malfunction;
- This RK has already been trained by another immobilizer (does not fit the ECU).
Disabling the immobilizer
Before bypassing the immobilizer on Kalina and other AvtoVAZ creations, it is better, of course, to consult with a specialist, but if your knowledge of electronics allows, then you can save money on this procedure. In addition to the necessary knowledge, you will need:
- knob;
- universal joint;
- crosshead screwdriver;
- extension;
- figured bat.
Armed with everything you need, unscrew the battery and remove the protection from the dashboard. The capricious immobilizer will be located behind the heating controls, not far from the radio. Externally, the device looks discreet, like a small black box measuring 5x10 cm. After that, the hardest part begins.
To remove the treasured black box, you need to unscrew the bolts that connect the device to the control panel. Before this, you need to turn off the power supply from the APS; to do this, pull out the plug and hold it with a special lock. Don't forget to reactivate the diagnostic line after the immobilizer has been removed. Disabling the Priora or Kalina immobilizer is completed, now we need to configure the APS.
The most important thing at this stage is to completely delete all information that was left in the ECU (volatile memory) unit. This will be more difficult to do, since the immobilizer will most likely be equipped with an EEPROM system, which is responsible for storing data. There are two ways to solve this problem:
- You can modify the control unit by resoldering the chip resistor. To do this, you need to connect the unit to a PC and use a special pack-loader to read the firmware. After this, it is enough to install new EEPROM firmware and solder the chip in its rightful place.
- You don’t have to remove the chip and use the Combiset program, which works on the same principle as EEPROM.
In some immobilizer models, “tricky” EEPROMs are installed, from which it is impossible to delete all information, and unnecessary “tails” will not lead to anything good. How to disable the Priora immobilizer in this case? Yes, very simple, edit the dump file. To do this, you need to replace its bytes and enter the combination FF instead of 2-7 digits.
In order to open the ECU from the immobilizer, you need to remove the standard wiring connector and count contacts 9 and 18 in it (there are 20 in total). These wires must be bundled and insulated.
The matter remains small. We connect all the connectors to the control unit and put it back. We install the console and start the engine without any problems. Ready!
If, for some reason, you need, on the contrary, to activate the immobilizer, by the way, activating it can often help in case of interruptions in the operation of the device, then you will have to use the key.
How to activate the standard alarm on a Priora
How to disable the immobilizer on the Lada Kalina?
If the connection and activation of the standard immobilizer was not carried out at the car dealership, then it is quite possible to do this yourself, following a certain sequence of actions. Before starting activation, it is necessary to consider what exactly is included in the package of any immobilizer, namely:
the standard anti-theft device itself, which blocks the car’s electronic systems;
3 keys to it, 2 of which are black - these are working keys and 1 key is red - training. It is with its help that you can activate and train the device.
Now let's look at how to activate the standard alarm system on a Priora yourself. To do this, you can use the activation instructions, but they describe the process in general terms, which makes connecting the device much more difficult for a person who is going to do this for the first time.
Using the step-by-step instructions below for connecting the immobilizer, you can easily do it yourself, the main thing is to perform all the steps in order.
At the very beginning, you need to make sure that all the car doors are closed. After this, using the red training key, you need to turn on the ignition, after which it should work for at least 6 seconds. After this, the ignition can be turned off. If you did everything correctly, the warning light should blink throughout this entire time.
If the lamp stops blinking, it means an error has been made, there is some kind of malfunction, or the timing parameters of the connection procedure have been violated. A flashing light is a kind of indicator of the correct activation of the immobilizer.
During the period of time while the signal is sounding, you need to turn on the ignition again with the working key, and three buzzer beeps should sound; if you don’t hear them, it means something went wrong. After the buzzer has beeped three times, you need to wait about 6 more seconds, after which the buzzer should sound two more times. If this does not happen, then either the immobilizer is faulty, or it has already been trained previously using another key.
When two more consecutive beeps are heard, the ignition can be turned off. After this, you need to make sure that the lamp is still flashing and remove the working key from the ignition switch. After this, the training key is reinserted into it and the ignition is turned on again.
If you did everything correctly, three more consecutive buzzer beeps will sound, indicating that the activation process was carried out correctly, after about 6 seconds you will hear two more confirmation beeps.
After them, the ignition must be turned off again, but the red training key remains in the ignition. After another 6 seconds, the buzzer will emit another final tone and the light will begin to flash twice as fast.
This indicates that everything has been done correctly and the last final step remains to be taken before the end of immobilizer training. While the lamp is actively signaling, you need to turn the ignition on again with the learning key, and after a few seconds turn it off again.
After another 5 seconds have passed after turning off the ignition, the warning light will stop flashing and the last 3 buzzer sounds will sound, after which you can turn off the ignition and wait 10 seconds. That's it, one of the working keys is configured and the immobilizer will respond to it.
If you need to train several working car keys, then this procedure will need to be repeated with each of them. At the end, the anti-theft alarm should turn on and the hazard light should light up. At this point, the training of the device can be considered complete.
In our article we looked at how to activate the key on a Priora; we hope that our step-by-step instructions will be useful to you and, having connected the immobilizer to your car, you will no longer worry about its safety and security.
Instructions for activating the immobilizer
The process of activating the immobilizer on a Priora is carried out in a car with the door locks locked.
Activation is done like this:
- The training key is installed in the switch and the ignition is turned on. You must wait at least six seconds and then turn it off.
- When the actions are performed correctly, the indicator light blinks on the dashboard throughout the entire time it is turned on. If it goes out, then an error was made during the task. The immobilizer may be faulty or the time interval has been violated. The LED indicator on the device indicates that the switch is turned on correctly.
- During the period of time while the light is blinking, it is necessary to activate the ignition using the working key. The sound beepper will start beeping. If this does not happen, there was an error in the process.
- After playing three sound pulses, you must wait about six seconds. The beepper will then beep two more times. If they are absent, the blocking agent is diagnosed for malfunctions. The microprocessor module may have been trained using a different key.
- After two beeps, you need to turn off the ignition system. If the car owner plans to register not one, but several keys, then the activation procedure is repeated for each.
- If the indicator light on the instrument panel blinks, the control element is removed from the switch. Then the training key is installed in it again, and the ignition is activated. If there are no errors, the beeper will emit a triple beep, indicating that the blocker has been successfully activated. The ignition does not turn off, and after six seconds the beepper will again emit a double beep.
- The key in the lock turns counterclockwise. After turning off the ignition, you must wait six seconds, this will trigger the beepper. The indicator light on the instrument will blink more frequently. If an error was made during the process, all steps are repeated again.
- While the light on the control panel is flashing at a high frequency, the ignition is activated with the learning key. After 2-3 seconds. it needs to be turned off. After another five seconds, the indicator will stop blinking and the beeper will play a triple pulse.
- Then the ignition turns off and does not need to be activated for at least 10 seconds. The alarm will be activated, as well as the emergency indicator. This completes the training procedure.
Operating principle of the immobilizer
How to disable the VAZ-2115 immobilizer yourself
The driver must protect the car from theft
The principle of operation of the immobilizer is quite simple. It exchanges data with the ECU (control unit), prohibiting or allowing, depending on the state of the system, starting at the level of the engine ECU, that is, without additional blocking. Permission to start the engine is carried out only after successful reading (initialization) of the black key. When you try to start a car that is not disarmed, the ECU blocks the fuel pump and ignition circuits.
For quite a long time, this fact brought a lot of income to the workshops, since the problem was solved and sometimes still is solved by would-be diagnosticians quite simply and at the same time profitable - by replacing the electronic control unit with a new one when the immobilizer is physically disabled. It should be noted that the number of immobilizer failures has sharply decreased recently - VAZ is still working to improve the resistance to interference of immobilizers, the largest number of failures occurs in cars manufactured before 2001.
There were so many cases of sudden failure of immobilizers due to software failures (precisely software, since the number of cases of immobilizer failure is negligible) that VAZ in the new software developed a user-programmable function for alternative engine starting in the event of a system failure. That is, the controller in emergency mode allows you to make one trip if this function is activated in advance and the password is entered correctly.
- Make sure there are no signs of damage to the key fob. Check the functionality of buttons and contacts.
- Check the power supply. If necessary, replace with a new one.
- Check the functionality of the central control unit. If the central unit breaks down or malfunctions, you will need to contact the service center installers to install new software.
- The device that detects impacts on the surface of the car may not work if the settings are incorrect.
- Drivers often encounter the opposite problem - the system reacts to the slightest contact with the body as a result of falling leaves, wind, rain, snow, etc. You will also need help with setup here.

Another common problem that the driver cannot cope with on his own is the loss of connection between the power supply and the electromagnetic contact. The contact ensures uninterrupted opening and closing of the prior doors. To determine the problem, you need a special device - a multimeter. Depending on the reasons that caused the malfunction, reinstallation of the software or replacement of parts is required.
How to bypass the immobilizer
If a malfunction occurs in the anti-theft system, the car cannot be started with the key, the immobilizer sends a signal to the ECM to block the main systems. If the need arises to install autostart, the driver has a question about how to disable the Priora immobilizer himself.
Using a crawler
The use of an immobilizer crawler allows you to use the autostart procedure for a vehicle without dismantling or disabling the APS. You can make a device to bypass the system yourself or buy it and install it at a service station.
A simple walker consists of a relay, an inductor for pumping power to the chip, and a diode. A working key is wound to the coil, the circuit is mounted in parallel to the standard pumping coil.
Without a lineman
At the service station, a procedure is carried out to reflash the engine ECU in order to disable the immobilizer. If you have an adapter, laptop and software, you can perform this operation yourself.
To do this you need:
- Disconnect the negative cable from the battery terminal.
- Gain access to the ECM, disconnect the unit from the vehicle network.
- Remove it from the car.
- Remove the cover from the ECU, solder the resistor on the board to a position that allows reprogramming.
- Connect the board to the adapter that provides communication with the computer and supply power to it.
- Using the program, erase data from non-volatile EEPROM memory.
- Save changes, disconnect from computer.
- Resolder the resistor to its original place.
- Install the ECM into the vehicle's electronic system.
When this operation is carried out, the engine ECU stops receiving signals from the immobilizer.
Resolder the chip in the control unit
If there is no adapter and it is possible to supply power to the ECM during programming, it is recommended to unsolder the EEPROM memory chip. In its place, put a new clean chip or the same chip, but only reset it using a programmer.
Disconnect the control unit
Physically disabling and removing the immobilizer from the Lada Priora is not possible, because it is integrated into the car’s comfort unit circuit. Disabling the power supply unit will disable the vehicle.
Video “Immobilizer malfunction on Priora”
How to disable the immobilizer on a VAZ-2114 with your own hands
The “IZO))) LENTA channel showed an example of incorrect operation of the power unit lock.
Good day to all!
There are those who are ardent supporters of disabling the standard immobilizer
and there are those who are satisfied with everything, and I still exist.
I
am the one who has a standard active immobilizer + alarm system + complications. Actually, not so much difficulties as a misunderstanding of how all
“this” should work.
I purchased a car with one set of keys:
training from Priora and a key fob with an LCD screen for the alarm system.
Alarm KGB FX7
, everything is standard: autostart, feedback, turbo timer and other gadgets.
Autostart worked, the key started the car, but it wasn’t enough for me, I wanted a key with buttons ( working
). By the way, only the driver's door was unlocked by the alarm; then you had to open it and press the ESP unit to open the other three. Those. the ESP unit controls only three other doors.
I bought a key.
It is indicated that you need to cut the blade and train the key, otherwise it will not work.
I cut the blade and went to try it; oddly enough, the key started the car easily. I reached home. I looked at the training instructions and started teaching. Everything is in the Murzilka.
He taught the key. He taught the key, it means that he began to open and close only three doors, everything except the driver’s, and the signaling began to open all doors + the key opens the trunk with a button. Autorun stopped working, because there is no crawler or there is one, but I don’t know about its existence, and accordingly I did not train it.
And not much about the alarm system; you can set the car to autostart whenever it wants, i.e. There are no specific actions such as lifting the handbrake and staying on autostart, it’s just that he wants to stay, he doesn’t want to stay - it’s not clear.
That's not all! A working key with buttons only works when the car is turned off, i.e. If you start the car, these buttons no longer have any effect!
I got an error, how can I solve it?
There is no need to suggest disabling the immobilizer, this is not a solution!
So far we have advantages:
opening doors using the key buttons, raising and lowering the ESP using the key buttons even when the car is turned off and the ignition is off, as well as when the car is on the alarm system. Those. The car remains on autostart, and I have access to it. All doors open with an alarm, the car can only be started with a registered key.
Minuses
the fact is that you need a lineman and that there are some misunderstandings, and also the immo can fly (
there is such a risk
) and you won’t start until the problems are fixed.
The car starts with both keys!
My questions are:
Why do the ESP unit and the working key control only three doors? Why does the signaling system, by its decision, leave the car at auto start? Why don’t the buttons on the working key work when the car is running? Why does this error appear and how to solve it (
without turning off the immobilizer
)? Why is the training key also starts the car? Shouldn't he just teach?
And finally, a video for ardent supporters of disabling the immobilizer:
Video “How to reprogram a standard alarm with your own hands?”
Detailed instructions for reprogramming the standard alarm are given in the video below (the author of the video is the Priorovod channel).
- We study the main malfunctions of the immobilizer
- General check before troubleshooting
- Main signs of immobilizer malfunctions
- What are the types of immobilizer malfunctions?
- How to fix immobilizer faults
Imagine a modern car without a security system thought out to the smallest detail. True, very difficult. Vehicles from the beginning of the last century immediately come to mind. But now you need to protect yourself as much as possible from intruders who are trying to steal your “pet,” even if it is in the garage.
Perhaps one of the best and most thoughtful solutions to modern car security is an immobilizer. And although repairing this device, like every complex electronic device, is not easy, it is still more reliable with it. And remember that there are specialized agencies and service centers that will help you and carry out restoration. Alternatively, you can try to troubleshoot the immobilizer yourself by first studying the instructions for it in detail.
General check before troubleshooting
Before performing general troubleshooting on your vehicle's immobilizer, check the following and correct as necessary:
— if the battery is discharged, charge it completely, and then start looking for problems with the immobilizer itself;
- if the ignition key is not original, use one approved by the brand of your car, and then start working on the immobilizer;
— remove the key and look for problems with it only;
- remove additional electronic gadgets or parts that may interfere, and look for malfunctions in the immobilizer system.
Main signs of immobilizer malfunctions
The main signs of malfunctions that should not be ignored are the following:
— when turning the key, the starter does not respond;
- when you turn the key and hear the starter moving, but the engine is silent;
— the dashboard signals with a corresponding light and sound;
— the car does not respond to pressing the corresponding button on the key fob (unless, of course, the problem is due to dead batteries in it).
Everything listed above is the most common signs that the immobilizer requires specialist help: software restoration or firmware updating. If you ignore such signals of malfunctions or entrust the task to amateurs, then everything can develop into more serious problems.
What are the types of immobilizer malfunctions?
The following types of immobilizer malfunctions are distinguished:
1. Software malfunction, which implies the destruction of the program in the engine ECU, immobilizer, or key chip. This problem can be resolved. Restoring the program of the listed systems helps. The exception is the chip key, which sometimes has no duplicates.
2. A hardware malfunction in which microcircuits fail or irregularities occur in the wiring of any system component. In this case, the fault must be diagnosed and corrected.
How to fix immobilizer faults
The immobilizer is structurally designed in such a way that a problem that occurs with one of its units will disable the entire system of the device. But of all the faults, the most common ones can be identified.
Insufficient electrical contact between the receiver and the antenna
In this case, the immobilizer malfunctions extremely often. There have been cases when it was possible to start the car only after the twentieth attempt. This problem occurs due to shaking, the antenna and receiver connectors are made poorly, the contacts are oxidized or dirt and grease have gotten on them.
In this case, the contact does not disappear immediately, but after a certain period of time, which depends on many factors. To fix this problem, you need to disconnect the receiver and antenna, turn off its power, then treat it with a special agent that eliminates contamination and oxidation. If necessary, it is better to tighten the antenna contacts.
Poor contact of one of the electrical wiring connectors
This problem also occurs if the antenna connectors are dirty. To eliminate it, dismantle all immobilizer wiring and check the condition of each wiring connector and blocks. Clean them with a special cleaner and tighten as necessary.
Immobilizer device
Security key
The VAZ immobilizer device is functionally similar to the APS-4, but in this system the code key is sewn into the ignition key, and the reader is located in the steering column. A number of additional features are also presented - control of rear PTFs, electric windows, k-line diagnostics of the immobilizer.
Structurally, APS-4 differs from APS-6. Moreover, APS-6 of different years of production differ slightly from each other. This is the case when “the manufacturer reserves the right to make changes that do not affect the performance of the product.” The internal structure of the immobilizer, despite its low cost, is quite complex. It is a microcontroller based on PIC16C65B, a K-Line circuit for exchanging data with the ECU via a diagnostic line and EEPROM memory for storing learning codes.
It is also necessary to keep in mind that very often APS-6 is installed in a housing from APS-4, that is, externally the unit is marked APS-4, and the board is marked APS-6.
The microchip on Priora cars is located inside the standard key fob, which controls the central standard lock (and standard alarm). In the Priora car, the immobilizer is structurally combined with the glass unit controller.
Information about the car device Immobilizer
Most people who recently purchased a car have no idea that their vehicle is equipped with an anti-theft device. An immobilizer is an electrical type device that does not block the ability to start the engine. The main function that the immo antenna performs is to break the electronic circuits of the car in the amount of one piece or several at once, due to which the potential for vehicle theft is reduced. For this reason, the attacker may not even know that the car he intends to “illegally purchase” is equipped with an immobilizer.
Disabling the immobilizer itself is not so easy, because it has a rather complex assembly system and, if the car owner does not know about its location, then it will be very difficult to find the device, since it can be located in any of several parts of the car.
There are 2 types of immobilizer: additional and standard. The standard type of anti-theft device is integrated into the vehicle during its assembly phase. Using special software (software), it limits access to the unit that controls the car’s engine. The standard type of immo is usually a transport immobilizer, that is, a wireless immobilizer.
The transport immobilizer consists of three main elements:
- Electromagnetic type relay - with its help, circuits are broken;
- The manual block is designed to control all components of the system. Thanks to this component, commands are transmitted and signals are processed;
- Chip, key, password, card or code owned by the owner of the car. The immobilizer system recognizes these components.
How to determine the location of the immobilizer in a Priora car? The immobilizer has several antennas of different types, and the most common among them is the ring-type antenna, located along the contour of the ignition switch itself.
Thanks to this antenna, radio exchange between the immobilizer key and the control unit occurs. Recently, immo with a remote control type for the Lada Priora car began to have several immo antennas. The anti-theft device is placed on the vehicle's locking tongue, secured with just one screw, the antenna connector is usually located deep in the car panel right behind the rubberized curtain of the steering column.
Alarm characteristics
After modernization, the Lada Priora received a device that plays the role of a basic alarm system and received the usual name for such devices - an immobilizer. An immobilizer (from the Latin to paralyze) is a device that, interacting with the electrical control unit, allows you to shut down the operation of the engine and provides unhindered access to the car and its systems.
By its very nature, the immobilizer security device presents itself in such a situation as a breaker of the electronic circuit that powers the car. And the driver, who has an active key with a microchip built into it, activates (turns on) or disconnects the power supply chain if necessary.
At the same time, installing the key in the ignition switch socket is not a connecting link, but only allows you to send a signal to the necessary electrical sensor so that the necessary devices do their job. Structurally, the immobilizer protective device consists of several blocks that are connected into a single mechanism:
Types of immobilizers
There are two of them - additional and standard. The second version of the device is installed in the car during its manufacture. Using a special program, it limits the possibilities for access to the engine control unit. A transport immobilizer that has no wiring is used as a standard device. It includes:
- electromagnetic relay that breaks circuits;
- a block that controls systems, transmits commands, processes signals;
- chips, keys, cards held by the driver.
Disabling the immobilizer yourself
An immobilizer is an extremely useful, correct and necessary device. However, there are often situations in which the device begins to cause a lot of inconvenience. The security system is faulty: the indicator lights up, the ignition is blocked and the fuel supply to the pump is stopped. Constant failures in the anti-theft system make drivers think about disabling the anti-theft device themselves. Next, we will tell you how to disable the standard alarm system on a Priora.
Using a crawler
A crawler is a specialized device that allows you to disable the security complex without dismantling the entire system. You can make this device yourself or buy it at any specialized store. The crawler is a simple design that includes:
- relay;
- inductor;
- diode;
A working key for a car that requires forced deactivation of the anti-theft complex is connected to the inductor coil. The circuit is mounted parallel to the standard pumping coil, after which the security system stops malfunctioning and disturbing the driver. If the Lada Priora does not start, try checking and disabling the immobilizer, following our recommendations.
Without a lineman
Only a service center specialist can disable the immobilizer on a Priora without using a lineman. Employees of technical stations change the firmware of the electronic control unit, thus deactivating the anti-theft system. However, if you have some knowledge in the relevant field, and also own a special adapter and a laptop computer, you can try to disable the immobilizer yourself.
How to disable the immobilizer on a Priora without a crawler:
- Remove the wire marked “minus” from one of the battery terminals.
- Having opened access to the ECM, disconnect the unit from the vehicle's on-board power supply.
- Dismantle the block box.
- Open the cover of the unit and solder the resistor responsible for the possibility of reprogramming.
- Connect the board to the adapter, the other side of which is included in the laptop.
- Using any suitable software, erase the volatile EEPROM.
- Save the changes and disconnect the board from the laptop.
- Resolder the resistor, setting it to the opposite value to the previous one.
- Install the system into the car.
After completing all the steps, the electronic security device will no longer accept commands from the anti-theft system.
Resoldering the CHIP in the control unit
If you do not have a special adapter that allows you to connect the car board and a laptop computer, you can try to re-solder the chip of the electronic control device. This is also an effective way to disable the immobilizer on a Priora. Service center employees recommend resoldering the EEPROM memory. A new, fresh chip is installed in place of the node.
Disconnecting the control unit
At first glance, it may seem that to disable the immobilizer it will be enough to simply remove the device box from the car. By disconnecting the device built into the comfort box, you are guaranteed to get a machine that is out of order.
What is an immobilizer for?
The central topic of this article is the immobilizer anti-theft device, or, as some call it, immo, which is installed on the Lada Priora car. The immobilizer is one of the most reliable and most widespread anti-theft devices in the world. Many car owners use this type of device, but not everyone is familiar with its functionality and operating principles. Immo prevents a person from illegally entering the car by preventing the engine from starting when using its key.
In this article we tried to most reliably analyze the most frequently asked questions regarding our topic:
- How does the immobilizer work and what functions does it perform?
- Where exactly is the anti-theft system located in Priora?
- What to do if the engine of a Lada Priora car starts with great difficulty?
- For what reason may a car with an immobilizer not start?
- How can you disable the immobilizer on a Priora?
Operating principle
As we found out earlier, the immobilizer on the Prior is an element of the security system that protects the car from theft. The design of the device is quite simple; the immobilizer consists of 4 main elements:
- automatic anti-theft system unit;
- a sensor that detects the presence of a key with a standard chip;
- wires for transmitting signals and connecting the system to the comfort unit;
- keys with transponder.
Despite its design simplicity, the device functions in a rather “cunning” way. The operating principle of this device is based on the phenomenon of electromagnetic induction:
- Turning the key provokes the transmission of a pulse to the inductor.
- A change in current strength occurs in the inductance of the switch - this allows the element to receive a signal from the pumping loop.
- The capacitance is charged, which powers the microcircuit with the code built into it.
- Generation of a reverse pulse by the chip.
- Reception of the return pulse from the chip by the pump loop.
- Transporting the signal to the APS.
- Comparison by the system of the current code with the code stored in the block memory.
- If the codes match, the machine starts.
If the system does not recognize the code, the anti-theft complex will interfere with the operation of the engine part of the car. The emergency system will go into protective mode and block the power supply to the gasoline pump, starter and ignition equipment. As a result of such fraud, the Lada Priora will not start.
Emergency immobilizer shutdown
To disable the immobilizer, a digital code is used, which must first be written into the memory of the control unit.
To do this, you need to go through the activation procedure described above, and then follow the steps:
- Turn the red key to the ignition on position and wait until the immobilizer warning light on the instrument cluster goes out.
- Dial the numbers of the future six-digit code. For this, any numbers from 1 to 9 are allowed. The dialing is performed by quickly pressing the gas pedal all the way. When pressed, the immobilizer lamp will light up, and when released, it will go out. After dialing the number, press the gas pedal and hold it until the immobilizer indicator goes out (about 5-6 seconds). Then you can dial the second number and so on. If you make a mistake when typing and saving, the immobilizer indicator will not go out, but will start flashing. In this case, the entire procedure is carried out again, starting with activation.
- After dialing and recording the last digit, the immobilizer indicator will not go off. You need to hold the gas pedal for another 10 seconds and release.
- Turn off the ignition and remove the red key from the lock.
In case of problems with starting, you need to disable the immobilizer using the previously recorded code, for this you will need:
- Turn on the ignition system. If you use a key with a damaged or unrecognized chip, the starter may briefly engage, which will not lead to starting, since the fuel supply and ignition circuits are disconnected. The immobilizer indicator on the instrument cluster will activate and flash.
- Wait about a minute until the icon goes out.
- Enter the code by pressing the gas pedal. To enter a number, quickly press the pedal all the way. The number of presses corresponds to the code number. To separate between numbers, use a long press on the pedal (about 6 seconds). The input procedure essentially repeats the process of programming the code.
- After entering the sixth digit, the fuel pump circuit will turn on, and the immobilizer indicator will also light up. If you enter a number incorrectly, the icon will flash. In this case, the code entry procedure is repeated from the first digit.
How to disable the blocker on Priora?
To independently remove and turn off the system, you will need a K-Line class adapter. It will need to be connected to the computer and the blocker itself. You must first download software to change the firmware on your PC.
The procedure may differ depending on the board in the installed immobilizer - M73 or M74.
Step-by-step instruction
A guide that will allow you to remove immo on the M73:
- The Openbox program is installed on your computer or laptop. The blocking device is connected to the PC. The utility starts and the standard EEPROM firmware is read.
- Data about the installed software is saved in the computer's memory. They will be needed in case the removal procedure fails.
- Then the HxD file editor is downloaded and installed. The downloaded firmware opens on the computer. At the very beginning of the text you need to add a line that consists of the characters FF. The changes are saved.
- The edited file is loaded into the memory of the microprocessor module. It is possible to use ready-made software options; you can search for them on the Internet.
- The module is then disconnected from the computer and installed on the car.
If the Priora uses a January 7.2 microprocessor unit, then to disable the immo, you need to assemble a circuit that has a positive cable switch.
After this, the procedure is performed as follows:
- ChipLoader software is downloaded and installed on the PC. The program version must be 1.97.7 or higher.
- The utility is launched and the required type of microprocessor module is selected in the main window.
- The unit itself is connected to the computer. The main program window opens, where you need to select the connection setup option.
- Basic firmware data is downloaded from the Eeprom memory card.
- Then you need to click on the “remove immobilizer” button. This will cause the utility to automatically adjust the basic parameters in the memory file.
- Then the software closes. The module is disconnected from the computer and installed back on the car.
The Xilvlik channel talked about the process of disabling the standard blocking device.
If the car is equipped with an immobilizer with an M74 board, then the shutdown procedure is as follows:
- The battery in the vehicle is disconnected. The block with wires is disconnected from the microprocessor unit.
- A cable harness made according to the diagram shown in the photo is connected to the device. It is recommended to use a double switch. This will allow voltage to be applied to the device in stages.
- The circuit is connected to the battery and to the PC using a VAG-COM cable.
- The first button of the switch is activated, with its help an impulse is sent to allow the programming procedure to be carried out.
- The WinFlash program runs on your computer or laptop. A settings window opens where you need to select the module type. The information transmission speed parameter is also indicated here. When performing a task, it is recommended to specify a minimum value.
- The second button is activated. Then a message about the start of communication with the module will appear in the main window of the utility.
- The standard software of the blocking device is saved, and the Eeprom memory is changed to a new one. The flashing procedure will take some time.
- If the process is completed, the program is turned off and the device and wiring are disconnected.
- The unit is then connected back to the vehicle. After this, it will be necessary to adapt the zero voltage of the throttle valve. To accomplish the task, you need to accelerate to about 4 thousand revolutions per minute, and then slow down the engine several times. The second speed is used. You need to brake to about 1 thousand rpm.
Characteristics and principle of operation of the blocker on Priora
Priors can use two types of immo - APS-4 and APS-6.
The first ones began to be installed on VAZs back in the early 00s and are considered less reliable. In the blocking device on Priora, the main role is played by the PIC16С65В controller and the K-Line bus. And the main element of the microprocessor module for working with the blocker is the physical section EPROOM. The latter records a special file with the same name, contained in the memory of the ECU (electronic control unit). It stores immobilizer learning combinations and it is this element that is responsible for the safety of the vehicle. If the file is activated and the blocker does not send a signal, the microprocessor module opens the ignition circuit and turns off the fuel supply system.
In more detail it looks like this:
- The driver, approaching the car, presses a button on the remote control.
- The doors open and the key is inserted into the ignition.
- A signal comes from the chip and is fed to the antenna adapter.
- The ring-type antenna begins to read the pulse from the chip. This element is made of a large number of turns of copper wire. The antenna adapter itself is located around the ignition switch cylinder.
- The pulse, after reading, is transmitted to the microprocessor module. The control unit begins diagnosing the signal and compares it with the normalized one. As a result, it gives a command to allow or prohibit the start of the power unit.
- If the key is not recognized and the device begins to block the main components, then an indicator is displayed on the control panel indicating a faulty immobilizer.
Auto electrician Sergei Zaitsev spoke about the principle of operation of the standard anti-theft system.
Where is the immobilizer located?
In the first models of vehicles with security devices, the immobilizer unit was located separately. But in Priors it is installed in the electrical package. The device is mounted in the car radio compartment, slightly below the central part of the console in the cabin. The microprocessor module is also located here.
Use of special programs and devices
To turn off the engine immobilizer in passenger cars without the appropriate key, you will need software that can enable the inactive status of the immobilizer. For example, you can use the Immobilizer Killer utility.
What will you need?
Before disabling the engine blocker, you must prepare:
- a Phillips-head screwdriver or screwdriver;
- set of socket wrenches;
- a computer with a PAC loader or other utility installed;
- soldering iron with rosin and tin;
- electrical tape.
Step-by-step instruction
Algorithm of actions on how to disconnect and disable the blocker:
The immobilizer is being searched. The user must gain access to the device. To do this, you will need to dismantle part of the interior trim. The control module is removed using a blocker. Usually the device is attached using self-tapping screws. All connectors are disconnected from the immobilizer and the condition is checked. If there are traces of contact oxidation on the block, then they are cleaned. You need to act carefully so as not to damage the plug. The immobilizer control unit is being disassembled. There is a working circuit inside the device case; it needs to be dismantled. If you need to unsolder the contacts for removal, prepare a soldering iron
You must act carefully, otherwise the board may be completely damaged. The soldering areas are heated to maximum temperature, after which the circuit is removed. The board is connected to the computer
Using the utility, the microcircuit is reprogrammed. The user must delete from its memory any information regarding the operation of the power unit lock. The immobilizer board is installed back into the module body, soldering is performed if necessary. The control unit is being assembled. Now the engine microprocessor device does not receive information about the operation of the car immobilizer. In the device to be switched off, the electrical circuits connected to outputs 9 and 18 are cut off. The wires connected to them are connected to each other and insulated with electrical tape. This is important to do in order to ensure uninterrupted operation of the on-board computer. At the final stage, all equipment is installed back. The previously disconnected connectors are connected to the control module.
Operating principle of the immobilizer
The principle of operation of the immobilizer is quite simple. It exchanges data with the ECU (control unit), prohibiting or allowing, depending on the state of the system, starting at the level of the engine ECU, that is, without additional blocking. Permission to start the engine is carried out only after successful reading (initialization) of the black key. When you try to start a car that is not disarmed, the ECU blocks the fuel pump and ignition circuits. Data exchange between the ECU and the immobilizer takes place via the K-Line diagnostic line, so it is possible to reset the code or disable it even by simply connecting diagnostic equipment with the ignition on or by interference from a regular mobile phone. Also, in no case, if you have an immobilizer, should you “zero” the battery. Then chaotic garbage may be recorded in the EEPROM, and a trip to the service center cannot be avoided.
Entering a 6-digit password and activating (programming) is done by pressing the gas pedal. And now you can imagine how many times you will need to press it, without losing your way, according to the algorithm, if you thought of, for example, the number “999999.” Not a very good prospect. If the immobilizer subsequently fails, you can again press the gas a lot to get the car to start.
