During the service, we drew attention to some shortcomings that were identified during operation. For example, the turn signals do not click, do not emit a signal, and the buzzer does not work. It does not work when the handbrake is raised or when the seat belt is unfastened, although everything worked before. At the salon they said that the equipment was such that there was no buzzer. Although there are hardly any cars that are equipped without an audible indication of the turn signal being turned on. After much debate, they agreed that something had to be done. They will change the instrument panel assembly.
A malfunction was identified such as spontaneous switching off of the rear fog lights. It happens when the wipers and heating are on, after a few minutes. Setting up and running-in takes place, after which the indicator shows that it is time to go to the service. There they will turn on a virtual tank level sensor.
The top lights are now without indication, R will be the minimum remaining, and then the fill level. Now the car runs on gas. You can switch manually. We press, the light goes out, the car switches to gasoline, there are no failures.
When switching to gas, the speed increases, roughly similar to the process of turning on an air conditioner. The first petrol injector is switched off step by step and the first gas injector is switched on. This process takes a few seconds. The car did not lose its dynamics; consumption began to show a little more.
The tank is toroidal, with a capacity of 42 liters. It was installed instead of a spare tire, which had to be abandoned. I have been using a Kalina station wagon with a prioro engine since 04/16/2011, to this day 01/01/2018, I have driven it from 0 km. up to 155t.km. I am posting a cost diary for 2021 mainly for those who want to know how much it costs to maintain a car. Attention, the cost is 1 km. the most minimal, based on the reviews I read, I have only seen below from some of the taxi drivers. With the transition to gas on November 23, 2016, not only did the overall percentage of fuel costs decrease from 70% to 55%, but it also turned out to be a very interesting engine, it became flexible, quiet and operating absolutely without detonation in any mode.
In 2021, I drove 23,200 km and spent 91,123 rubles on cars, of which 233 liters on gasoline, taking into account bonuses 8,024 rubles. and for gas 2356 liters, taking into account bonuses 41970 rubles. Everything else RUR 41,129. Drive 1 km. costs 3.93 rubles, of which 2.15 rubles are spent on fuel, absolutely all costs for the car and garage fees are taken into account.
Disadvantages of gas.
1) Gas cylinder 42 l. installed in place of the spare wheel, instead of it I put a repair kit for wheels in the trunk.
2) The gas reducer is heated by antifreeze and cools noticeably during operation, taking some of the heat from the engine and stove; at minus 30 and below this is a disadvantage, but in hot weather this is an additional cooling radiator - a small plus.
3) The weight of the car has increased, especially when the cylinder is full, and this weight falls on the trunk. When taxiing, this is not very great when the car is fully loaded, but when it is partially loaded, the result is ideal weight distribution and drift of the rear axle in sharp turns is practically eliminated and good loading of the rear axle when braking.
4) Fuel consumption has increased in total. For the entire 2021, the average fuel consumption was 11 liters. per 100 km., of which 1 liter. gasoline and 10 l. gas. Gasoline is consumed during starting, warming up the engine and when purging the tank, when the adsorber valve opens, and when you switch to gasoline and purge the pistons on the highway. But due to the cheapness of gas, fuel costs have decreased, which is already a plus for gas.
5) The on-board computer underestimates the average and instantaneous consumption, since it shows gasoline consumption, but gas is consumed. On average for the year, if you count by receipts, it underestimates by 16%. If you multiply the instantaneous consumption by 16%, then this will be the real gas consumption. Moreover, if you meticulously consider that in summer and winter the mixture of propane and butane according to GOST is different and this can be seen from the consumption, in winter the gas consumption is naturally higher.
6) Because of gas, my driving style in the city has changed. I began to press the slipper to the floor much more often because... the engine pushes forward energetically and sharply without detonation from any speed, and for a short time on gas you can turn it up to any speed, the gas installer instructed. That’s why three fines for speeding came from cameras, although they are now very densely installed in Barnaul. I don’t turn on the old radar detector in the city, it beeps at everything.
7) A new rattling sound has appeared under the hood from the gas injectors; it is now the loudest, against the background of the quiet operation of the engine, on gas.
At high speeds on gas, the engine is weaker, and installers do not advise driving for a long time on the highway at high speeds due to possible burnout of the valves.
9) The toad presses when I fill up with gasoline, rarely, but it happens.
Advantages of gas.
1) Fuel costs have decreased. On average, per year to travel 100 km. I spend 215 rubles. Of which for gasoline AI95 1l x 38.9 rubles. = 38.9 rub. and for gas 10l x 17.6r. = 176 rub. If you take my average gasoline consumption over the last year when I drove only gasoline, it was 8.26 liters. per 100 km. and recalculate everything only for gasoline, it turns out that in 2021 I would have spent 23,200 km. x 8.26l/100km. = 1916l. multiply by 38.9 rubles. = 74,532 rubles, this is if I continued to drive only on gasoline. I saved 74,532 rubles in a year. – 49994 rub. = 24538r. and beat off the installation of propane-butane gas, which cost 23,500 rubles. Although now I’ve started wandering around the city more, there are fewer highways, there are more cars in Barnaul, I think I wouldn’t invest in 8.26 l/100 km, if that’s too much!
2) The engine runs quietly, smoothly, at any speed, if you press the gas pedal, the car will drive confidently without detonation and ringing, as happened before on regular 95 gasoline, and the turned on air conditioner does not cause short-term detonation when you rev it up properly from idle.
3) There was a feeling of autonomy, like on a submarine; with both cylinders filled, the total mileage exceeded 1000 km at one gas station.
4) I refuel without queues, propane-butane gas stations are plentiful everywhere in the Altai Territory, and you often have to stand in line at gasoline gas stations.
5) I won free gas from the promotion, not bad! I’ve never been to a gas station, although I participate in almost all promotions.
6) Because of the gas, my driving style on the highway has changed. Cruising speed decreased from 130-140 to 110-120 because there is no sixth gear, and the engine speed at 120 km per hour is 3200 rpm, at 110 it is 3000. The gas installer advised not to drive on gas for a long time at speeds above 3500 due to possible burnout of the valves, I listen to this advice, although in priority - the engine is equipped with hydraulic compensators, oil nozzles for cooling the pistons and a high compression ratio. The record gas consumption on the highway is 7 liters. at 100 km. drove 600 km. on one tank of gas. In general, it's been a year and everything is great with the valves!
7) Tried a new type of fuel in action. Now, as a sensei, I can conduct conversations with colleagues for him.

17) at 133t.km. TZA motorsport pump purchased from a “reliable” store and installed at 111t.km. leaked. The original TZA pump worked for five years and 111t.km, and the “TZA motorsport” pump worked for one year and 22t.km, five times worse than the original one! Having studied everything about pumps for the Prioro Motor, I bought and installed a HEPU P625 pump. Yes, the tooth profile is a little different, and the idle performance is less, but I drove 22t.km on it. and I hope to replace it only at 233 t.km.
18) at 135 t.km. I noticed that the rear arches were partially sandblasted from the rear wheels to the white ground. He carried out a comprehensive treatment of the entire car with anti-corrosion and anti-gravel preparations, and did everything himself. I bought liter spray bottles with a thin tube for internal cavities and bitumen mastics for application with a brush. Overall I liked the application process, and I liked the condition of the car, there was practically no rust anywhere, I removed the bumpers, front fender liners, and door cards. I didn’t like two places in the car, under the front mudguards there was a protective film, paint, primer worn down to metal and the front part of the rear arches had a drop of sandblasting down to the metal, but otherwise the factory treatment coped with its task, well, I’m not driving around Moscow, there’s much less salt on my roads. The preparation process is tedious; thoroughly washing and degreasing everything is another task. I also washed a lot of dust from the thresholds and side members with a high-pressure washer before applying Movil, I used a flexible hose for cleaning sewers, a very cool thing.
19) at 136 t.km. The expansion tank installed at 104 t.km burst. I installed a third reinforced expansion tank with a glass, from Kalina2.
20) at 137 t.km. The original ignition coil of the first cylinder was replaced.
21) at 141 t.km. The original ignition coil of the second cylinder gave up, this time I bought the most expensive “BOSH 0 221 504 473”, there was only one original coil left on the fourth cylinder.
22) at 141 t.km. I didn’t like the noise from the original timing belt, the sound became squealing, as if it had become glassy and stiff. This belt came off from 0-85 t.km. and from 133-141 t.km., that is, not only mileage wears out, but also age. I installed a new third Gates belt, a new auto-tensioner pulley from the same kit, the support roller left the old ina2112, which I installed at 65 t.km., it rolls smoothly without noise and with minimal play, now its mileage is 90 t.km. After this preventive replacement, the sound from the timing drive became soft and rustling.
23) at 145 t.km. replaced the heater radiator which was installed at 125 t.km. with cutting the tubes and installing clamps inside the car, now I don’t recommend doing that. With the onset of cold weather, antifreeze began to ooze in this place and I could not overcome this leakage, but only crushed the plastic tubes with screw clamps. As a result, I replaced the heater radiator with a new one, as expected, with the hoses connected in the engine compartment.
24) at 148 t.km. began to knock out second gear. After reading the forums, I realized that the problem is trivial and can be solved by replacing the 2nd gear synchronizer. But after disassembling the gearbox, I saw that it was necessary to change not only the 2nd gear synchro, but also something else, which anyone interested will see in the table. What I liked about repairing the gearbox is that it’s lightweight, all the parts are in the store, and with a good tool there are no questions about repairing it, I fixed it myself in two days, thanks to my friends for helping me guide and fix the gearbox during installation. Does Suprotec work? After all, the gearbox was treated with it? I don’t know, since this is my first disassembled box, I have nothing to compare with, but I poured this magic potion again, and it certainly didn’t get any worse.

At the moment, everything in the car is 100% in working order, the check engine light is off, the air conditioning is working, the heater is hot, the car is a joy, the cost of operation has dropped! To keep things going this way, I am carrying out scheduled replacements of those. fluids according to the service book and recommendations on the forums.
The second time I changed the antifreeze with flushing of the cooling system according to the regulations after 75t.km., this time it was much cleaner than when the factory one was first replaced.
The third time I replaced the brake fluid, according to the regulations, after 45 t.km., as in previous replacements, it was black and with flakes, it’s right that I replaced it.
I changed the engine oil three times in a year, with flushing oil and tried soft flushing. I expected that the used oil would be lighter in color, since the engine runs on gas, and that the replacement interval could be increased, but that was not the case, it is black, maybe a little lighter than on gasoline, and even then it’s unlikely. I did not increase the oil change interval, I left it the same, if there is a lot of city then 8 t.km. if there is more highway then 10 t.km. Although the gas is cleaner and leaves fewer deposits in the engine, the temperature ages the oil and it turns black, I came to this conclusion.
I changed the fine gas filter twice, cut both of them, the first one was changed in the summer, it was dirty, the second one was changed in the winter, it was much cleaner, the replacement schedule is every 10 thousand km.
In the spring I removed the bumper and washed the air conditioner and main radiators, this is already becoming a tradition, before the hot Siberian summer and protects the engine from overheating, I advise you not to be lazy and do this procedure without fail. A huge amount of garbage is washed away.
Before winter, with the onset of the first frosts, the heater fan began to whistle once again. He didn't take me by surprise. Once again I removed it and anointed it until next autumn, expensive lubricant does not help, it lasts for a year.
I often read that Viburnums are for quiet movement and there is no excitement or fire in them! Here it is necessary to explain, Kalinas are produced in different ways, as Kalinovod with experience will explain using a personal example. The engines are installed differently, the main pairs are different, the environmental classes are different, the diameter of the wheels is different and all this affects the dynamics, elasticity and driving pleasure. From my own experience I can compare three viburnums. Batina, engine 1.6 eight bug 80 hp. and even the main pair is 3.7, Euro3, P14, a quiet car. Bratova Kalina2 1.6 16 valves 106 hp, main pair 3.7, Euro4, P15, a little faster but not much. My Kalina, the most cocky, 1.6 16 valves 98 hp, main pair 3.9, Euro3, P14, simply drives around both of these cars without any questions literally from first gear because... The main pair is 3.9 and the intake manifold is without any dampers, and the Euro3 is not very choking. But all these three cars have an apologetic attitude towards roads of five plus! They handle bumps and all sorts of unexpected incidents on the highway equally well (P15 is evil on potholes, P14 and a higher profile are what you need), they allow you to feel relaxed without worrying that you will fly off the road or break the glass pendant. Often, when walking along the highway, I calmly pass cars that are slowing down in front of small potholes, I don’t do that, I slow down a little and push on with a relaxed suspension, but when there’s a hefty pothole, I brake without question, but I fly over the bump itself with the brake released, so as not to break off anything - something in a braked (clamped) suspension and the mileage is already 155t.km. speak for itself that this protects the suspension units. Having bought my viburnum and carefully broken it in, I changed the oil, and the heat came into the house according to my mood. Starts from a traffic light to the red zone are no problem, hang out with friends - you’re always welcome to put the speedometer needle down as easily as possible. The Prioro engine is very sharp, it still surprises and pleases! So there are calm Kalinas, and there are also frisky ones, and all of them can glide cheaply and calmly along the broken-down road, which is the majority.
I’m looking forward to this winter, not only because of ski sickness, but also because of the desire to test four new studded wheels Cordiant Snow Cross 185/65/14 from the Omsk Tire Plant. And it did not disappoint, the tires are wonderful and a little better than Cordiant Cno-max 185/65/14, namely, it gives more confidence when braking on ice, you can actually feel the rear axle squatting when braking. The price for size 14 is just a gift.
Siberian frosts are “pleasant” this New Year. Once again Kalina confirms that, like many others can, try to start at -30 and below, sleeping on the street, without warming up at night and lighting a cigarette in the morning, without electric and autonomous heaters, without removing the battery at night, this is only possible for the “chosen ones” , my viburnum is among them. Although there was a warm, charged battery in stock just in case, and the electric heater could be turned on, I was too lazy to unwind the carrier. The Zhiguli Pyaterochka pleased with its confident launch into the fierce frosts and Kalina is not lagging behind, maintaining the VAZ brand in this matter. Or do I use good oils and charge the batteries periodically? She takes pride in her care for us, got started in the bitter cold and calmly took my family home 300 km away, saving me from excessive food and treats. And if it hadn’t started, then the end of my ski uniform wouldn’t have been able to fit into my training suit, and even a couple more days of extra gluttony would be too much! By the way, fisher speed max skis cost 30 thousand rubles. but they roll superbly, they’re light, the rollout on one leg is long and confident without stalling, the speed is kept high, it brings tears out of your eyes, you can’t run along the ski slope without goggles.
Here is a short story for 2021. Let me summarize. The Kalina station wagon with air conditioning is just what my family needs, it doesn’t ask for extra money, it’s in service all the time, it hasn’t given a single reason to replace the car with a new one. The Prioro engine is pleasing, perky, economical and, it seems, not much hp. I haven’t lost 155t.km in seven years. I was pleasantly surprised by the gas in the car; it turns out you can not only save money with it, but also have a lot of fun, which is something I never expected!
