The second-generation Granta risks losing its identity due to the new platform from Renault and unification with Logan. And while the replacement of the old “trolley” is understandable, the abandonment of the hatchback body will probably upset many. The new generation of public sector vehicles will be built on the Global Access (B0) architecture used in the current Renault Logan. This solution will allow developers to save money and will also provide Grant with increased dimensions. In terms of size, the new product will be close to Vesta 2021-2022, although AvtoVAZ is diligently trying to separate the flagship model.

The Granta 2021 body frame will probably also receive from Logan, but the hatchback in the line will have to say goodbye. The new generation model will be offered in three body styles: a sedan with the code designation LJO (LGH), a station wagon (BJO (BGH)) and a cross-station wagon (Cross).

But there will be a subframe with attached front suspension arms, a stabilizer bar and a steering mechanism. This will reduce the level of vibration and noise when driving, improve steering feedback and have a positive effect on handling.

The rear suspension design will change - instead of coil springs and hydraulic shock absorbers, a beam with spaced elements will be installed. The modification will reduce vibrations and improve the car’s behavior on the road.

The interior of the new Granta has new elements that can be noticed immediately. This is a new instrument panel with orange backlight and an enlarged monochrome on-board computer monitor. It’s difficult to call the front panel new, but it’s different, but this dashboard melted on the same Lada Kalina. For the new Grant, it was simply redesigned a little. The central place is occupied by a stereo system with a monochrome display. It looks quite harmonious and has a convenient control interface.

But the old dashboard will not disappear anywhere; it will be installed on the cheapest basic versions of the car. Particularly noteworthy is the new interior trim and seats, which are now different. The rear sofa has changed shape. The front seats now have increased lateral support and a heating function. And the driver's seat also received height adjustment.

The external design of the new Granta was designed at the factory at the end of 2019. Engineers made a plasticine car and a 3D model. Based on known information, independent designers presented renderings of the new product.

The first image shows the appearance of the model with a proprietary front design and side stampings. This option is the most likely, because all the new Ladas use Steve Mattin's X-style. The sedan has increased in size and acquired headlights in the spirit of the LADA XCODE concept.

The new Lada Granta sedan , which has remained virtually unchanged since 2011, has undergone a long-awaited restyling. The main changes affected the appearance and interior. But the technical part remained without significant innovations. Although this is not entirely true, some things have changed. But we will talk about this below.

After the stunning success of the Lada Vesta design, the manufacturer decided to take advantage of the situation and make the Lada Granta as similar as possible to the Vesta. At the same time, there was a non-trivial task to make the modernization process as inexpensive as possible, so as not to significantly increase the cost of a budget car. As a result, almost all metal stampings of the body remained the same. These are fenders, hood, doors. But the front optics, radiator grille and bumper, coupled with chrome “boomerangs” now represent an X-style similar to Vesta and XRay.

Nothing has changed on the side, the same doors from the first generation Kalina. But the designers did some work at the back. The new bumper has a more complex shape. And the trunk lid received a niche for the license plate (previously it was on the bumper). The trunk lid was the only metal part that changed its shape. What will change in the salon

The interior of the new generation Lada Granta combines the features of three related models - Logan, Vesta and XRay. So, from the “French” they got an instrument cluster with three wells and a dashboard, and from LADA - a multifunctional steering wheel and an air conditioning control unit.

Granta 2021 model will be more comfortable than its predecessor due to increased legroom for rear row passengers. However, the model should still remain in the budget segment, so fabric upholstery and hard plastic will not go away.

Interior

The interior of the Lada Granta is head and shoulders above the quality of its exterior trim. Of course, there is no point in comparing the interior of the Granta with foreign sedans of the same class - the ergonomics and aesthetics there will be a level higher, but nevertheless, by purchasing this car, you get a huge amount of space in the front. Granta also has achievements that its predecessors did not have: temperature and fuel level indicators, which previously had a physical location on the console, have immigrated to the liquid crystal display in an electronic version.

The chairs are unremarkable, but they are comfortable to sit in; the cushion is long enough even for a tall person; in Kalina, for example, it is shorter. In the rear seats, not everything is so smooth: there is not much space, and if three people sit, the middle one will be hampered by the tunnel running through the center.

Specifications

In this regard, you should not expect changes - the second generation Grant will be equipped with old naturally aspirated gasoline engines. It should not turn out to be better or more powerful than Vesta, so the appearance of European turbo engines is excluded.

Under the hood of the budget vehicle in the cheapest trim levels there will be a 1.6-liter 8-valve engine with an output of 87 horsepower. It will be paired with a 5-speed manual transmission.
