Until recently, the Lada Granta had only a sedan body, but in 2014 a hatchback or liftback version appeared. The model of the new body is shown in photo 1. The designers of the Lada Granta with a hatchback body stated that they had made a considerable number of changes to the car model in question. Thanks to these changes, the Lada Granta has become more manageable and comfortable.
Comparative analysis of liftback and sedan bodies
The Lada Granta is made in a liftback body, which differs from the sedan body in several parameters.
- The body length has been reduced, but not by much. The liftback has a body length of 4246 m, the sedan is 14 mm longer.
- The liftback's ground clearance is 185 mm, the sedan's is 160 mm.
- The width and height of both bodies have not changed. They are equal to 1.7 and 1.5 meters.
- New front bumper and air intake. On the front bumper of the liftback there are black inserts with fog lights located in them.
The sedan and liftback have the same hood shape, radiator grille, and headlights. The similarities and differences are clearly visible. The appearance of both bodies of the Lada Grant differs in the side view. A car with a liftback body looks much more interesting in profile than a sedan. French colleagues (Renault company) tried their best for this. Now the liftback has an advantage - the transition of the roof to the rear of the car is made more smoothly.
The rear of the car has also undergone changes for the better. The taillights have a narrowed C-shape. In the sedan they were not narrowed, but had the same shape. The license plate of the liftback began to be attached to the fifth door. Note that the sedan model had a license plate attached to the bumper. There are no other more striking and noticeable differences.

It should be noted that the configurations of the Lada Granta are different, or rather, there are only three of them: the Lada Granta Standard, the Lada Granta Norma, and the Lada Granta Luxury. The manufacturer, that is, the VAZ concern, deliberately took such a step in order to diversify the Russian automobile market. These models differ in configuration and price, but most importantly, in engine power. It should be noted that the engine, with a volume of 1.6 liters, is basic for all models, but its modifications are different. In addition, the external data of the models differ. Comfort and safety increase in proportion to the price.
The models also have different levels of security. In addition, the configurations of the Lada Grant vary in terms of comfort. The VAZ concern specially introduced several variants of “Grants” into production so that the buyer could choose a car according to his means. That is, if the main thing for a motorist is the appearance, and not the filling of the car, then he will be able to save money, and if the consumer needs “full stuffing,” then this option is available. And since 2013, hatchbacks of this model have also gone on sale.
Specifications
The changes in power units were quite predictable. The liftback transmission has also changed. The engine and gearbox itself have not undergone any changes and are fully consistent with the sedan model. The Granta liftback model has a 1.6-liter gasoline engine with 87 or 106 hp. Lada Granta liftback can be equipped with a manual or automatic transmission. The manual transmission consists of five stages. The automatic transmission has four ranges.
Gasoline consumption and acceleration speed directly depend on the installed engine and gearbox. If the Lada Granta model has an 87 hp unit. s., and the manual transmission consumes 7 liters, then the maximum speed of the car will be 166 km/h. The sedan and liftback do not differ in interior trim, the characteristics of which are as follows:
- the spaciousness is absolutely normal;
- at the rear, the interior is lowered by 8 millimeters (a feature for a hatchback);
- the interior is upholstered in fabric;
- The trunk is designed for 440 liters or more.
"Lada Granta Lux"
The next model is the best luxury package in the Lada Granta line, the most saturated. The engine in this model is installed in a volume of 1.6 liters, but it has 16 valves. The power of this unit is 98 horsepower; a similar engine is installed on the Priora. The comfort of this configuration is due to the height-adjustable steering wheel, electric power steering and electric windows on all four windows. Granta Lux also has athermal glass, and air enters the cabin through an air filter. Heated exterior mirrors and their electric drive, as well as climate control and air conditioning. In addition, it is equipped with heated front seats and an electric trunk lock. It must be said that this is a completely modern configuration that no domestic passenger car has had before.
The exterior of this Lada Granta configuration is represented by body-colored bumpers and daytime running lights in the headlights. Alloy 14-inch wheels and a molding grille on the radiator give this Granta solidity; there are also door moldings. The exterior mirrors are painted to match the body color, and the outer door frames are black. The overall appearance of the luxury model is quite modern and boldly competes with many foreign cars.
The interior also has all the necessary characteristics, the doors are trimmed with fabric with decorative inserts, there are door sill trims and a container for glasses. The rear seat is separate. Configurations of Lada Grants with liftback body
The liftback has three configurations. "Standard". The equipment provides maximum safety for the car owner. The car is equipped with airbags. “Standard” has inertial belts and a system for attaching a child car seat. There is an immobilizer and central locking. The “Standard” package contains a headlight range control with hydraulic drive. The steering can be adjusted depending on the angle of inclination. There is audio preparation. The audio system is not fully equipped.
“Norma” package. The package has similar elements as the “Standard” one. There is additional equipment in the form of an anti-lock braking system and a system that is activated during sudden braking. The on-board computer occupies a proud place on the dashboard. There are power windows on the front doors, they are equipped with an electric drive. The fifth door additionally has an electric drive. The multimedia system is fully equipped.
“Lux” package. The machine contains excellent equipment. Reinforced suspension and built-in directional stability system are just a small part of the positive differences. The airbag is present not only for the driver, but also for the passenger. The soundproofing package is much improved. Electric windows are available on the front and rear doors. "Lada Granta Standard"
First of all, it is necessary about (standard equipment) - simple and has only the most necessary options. That is, there is only one airbag installed in the car, which is intended for the driver. Further, the Lada Granta Standard is equipped with a 1.6-liter eight-valve engine with a power of 80 horsepower. The appearance of this “Grant” is also simple: the bumpers are not painted, there are no caps or grilles. But there are stamped 13-inch wheels and daytime running lights, which still give it some kind of solidity.
There is nothing in terms of driving comfort in this configuration, the glass is colorless, there are no electronics. There are inertial seat belts, and the kit also includes a mount for child seats, but the cost of the Lada Granta Standard is also the lowest and most affordable.
