Damage to the side windows of doors (sliding doors) is a fairly rare occurrence, and sometimes, even with serious side impacts, the windows remain intact. On a Lada Granta car, the side windows can be changed without any problems, and to perform this repair you will need the following tool:

I think that everyone already knows - the design of the side glass fastening on the Grant is the same as on the Kalina. Therefore, the differences in performing this work will be minimal. The only thing that will be different is the removal of the door trim, but I don’t think that this procedure will cause any problems for Granta owners.

So, when the upholstery is removed, you need to pry off the seals (velvet covers) on one side with a flat screwdriver:

Of course, it is possible that when these rubber seals are dismantled, they will simply become unusable, but you can, if you wish, leave them intact if you try!
After this, with the glass raised all the way, unscrew all the bolts securing the glass to the window regulator. There are four such bolts in total, as is clearly shown in the photo below.
They are clearly visible through special technological holes. Now you can unscrew all 4 mounting bolts. But first, be sure to secure the glass so that it does not fall when it is completely released.
After this, you can lower the front part of the glass down, which is clearly visible in the photo.
And we try to pull the glass out of the door using the rear upper corner, acting extremely carefully so as not to damage the glass, otherwise it will shatter into small pieces.
The result of the work done is shown below. The entire procedure should not take more than half an hour, especially if you always have the necessary tool at hand.
If the new glass does not have special clips onto which the window lift holders are then screwed, then they must be removed from the old glass and try to be carefully installed on the new one. The main thing here is the tight fixation of these strips on the glass, so that there are no problems when lowering and raising the glass in the future.

Removing old glass
Car dealerships always replace the seal. When making repairs yourself, you need to check the part and if there are no creases or stretch marks, then the elastic band can be reused. Dismantling old glass in stages:
- Make a through hole in the sealant in the side of the windshield with an awl.
- Stretch the string.
- Tilt the string towards the glass and forcefully cut out the part around the perimeter.
- If there is a danger of damaging the paintwork because the string is crooked, it is better to cover the frame with tape.
- Pull out the windshield.
The most important step in self-installation is preparing the seat. The frame must be cleaned of old glue and primed. It is recommended to use assembly cutters or a construction knife. You cannot clean the seat down to the metal; it is better to leave up to 1-2 mm of the old sealant. When gluing, this will give additional grip and increase adhesion.

Installation process
When installing glass, a car owner cannot do without a specialized kit for gluing windshields, a glue gun, and a sharp knife. The installation procedure should be carried out in a well-heated room, the humidity in which is approximately 50%, and the air temperature is at least 23C.
Installation begins by removing the remaining sealant, whose thickness at the seams should ultimately not exceed 2 mm. Then the painted edges of the glass are degreased with an activator, and the edges of the body openings are also degreased. The adhesive composition is applied along the entire perimeter of the glass with a distance of 1 cm from the edge, and the width of the adhesive layer should not exceed 8, and the height – 12 mm.
Next, the glass is placed into the opening using suction cups, leaving evenly distributed gaps between its side edges. The wedges are installed downward so that the top of the trim is pressed against the front of the car's roof, after which the glass is pressed against the body. To prevent sliding, the glass is additionally secured to the body with several pieces of adhesive tape (no more than 300 mm long).

Windshield

Algorithm
- We install the machine within the perimeter of the repair area, on a flat platform / inspection channel. There is no need to hang it with a hydraulic lift;
- squeeze the handbrake, engage first gear, open the hood;
- Use a Phillips screwdriver to unscrew the two bolts on the decorative plastic overlays in the frill area.
We extract them;

- in the cabin we remove the front upper trim, rear-view mirror, antenna transmitter, and other equipment installed on the glass;
- in the upper part, carefully pry up the rubber moldings - seals;

Rear window
The process of replacing the rear one is similar in sequence to the previous one. The only difference is in the size of the product, and the locking mechanism is completely identical. After the windshield is installed, the car cannot be moved, and during the first eight hours after this procedure, sudden closing of the doors is strictly prohibited. The side windows should be left in the open position to avoid additional air pressure on the windshield.
