There is some strange thing with discs on the sportage. There is stamping, all the parameters are the same as the shnivy, except for the central center, it seems to be 100mm.
But with casting. In short, I wanted to buy a casting from Sportizh on the Sportizh forum. I read in their document that the casting parameters are identical to those of Shniv, R15 J6 5x139.7 ET +45 dia 98.5
Found a seller. I started discussing purchasing options. And then I came across a post on their forum:
Hi all! People, I understand that this may not be entirely on topic BUT! Information for those who, in addition to tires, are going to buy wheels! On our Sports cars with rims there is one ambush point: Everywhere in the catalogs of Internet magicians and not on the Internet, the diameter of the hole for the hub is indicated as 100 mm.
So, as a result of a deep and detailed study (ruler + removed standard wheel), it was revealed: the real diameter of the hole for the hub is 95.4 mm, which is confirmed by the marking on the spoke of the standard wheel (on the back side)!
Dan (many thanks for your help) and I carried out research and measurements on this issue. Not a single disk was damaged during the work!
P/S Other parameters for disks remain the same J6 15 5×139.7
I hope this information is useful to someone!
I asked the seller to see what the CO is. She said “yes, ok.” And then she disappeared.
So it’s possible that only the stamping from the sportizh will work, but the casting will not. You need to look at the markings
I can post a picture so that it is clear what kind of disks we are talking about.
Standard sizes
Before choosing wheels and tires for the VAZ 2121 and 21214 Niva, you should carefully study the sizes of their standard, factory wheels. From the factory, this car was produced on wheels with the formula: 5J x 16, H2-ET = 58, DIA = 98, PCD = 5 x 139, 7. Accordingly, alloy wheels for the Niva should be the same, or slightly larger/smaller the maximum size allowed for this model.
In order to better understand what we are talking about, you need to know the decoding of the standard wheel formula. Thus, you can choose wheels and tires for the VAZ 2121 and 21214 Niva, correctly. Explanation of the formula:
- 5J – this number means that this wheel can accommodate 5-inch tires. Depending on the tire manufacturer, the allowable size may be 1 inch less or more. The letter “J” means that this disc has only one side.
- Number 16 is the diameter of the wheel rim assembly.
- H2 - indicates that the design of the wheel rim provides for the presence of two hangers. Khanty are special protruding rings located on the edge of the rim. They serve to ensure that tubeless tires are securely fixed, especially when the force of the road surface moves onto the working plane of the tire. Simply put, they secure the tires during maneuvers and are mandatory on off-road rims.
- ET – designation of the disc overhang size in mm. Of course, they are allowed to disdain, but only to a lesser extent, and no more than 1 cm. Remember, the smaller the offset, the greater the distance between the wheels of Niva 2121 and 21214.
- DIA – hub diameter size in millimeters.
- PCD is a designation indicating the number of holes for mounting the wheel and the diameter at which they are located.
Size
Wheel rim parameters are determined by the following indicators:
- Width (J).
- External diameter (R).
- Bolt pattern - the number of bolt holes and the radius at which their centers are located (PCD).
- Reach is the distance from the mating plane in contact with the hub to the axle (ET).
- Center hole diameter (DIA).
Help: Chevrolet Nivas in standard configuration differ not only in engine size. The machines can have wheels with a radius of 15” and 16”.
Given the size of the wheel arches, it is possible to install seventeen-inch wheels with tires whose outer radius does not exceed 31”.
Increasing the rim size changes the characteristics of the car:
- Improves directional stability and controllability.
- The braking distance is reduced.
- Off-road capability is increasing.
However, as the radius increases, the likelihood of tire and rim damage increases. The machine becomes “harder” and the level of vibration increases.
Chevrolet Niva wheels are secured with five bolts, the location of which depends on the offset:
The center hole diameter is 98.5 mm, and the rim width ranges between 6-6.5 inches.
Exploitation
To ensure that the service life of the wheels is as long as possible, the following rules should be observed:
- Tires must be properly attached to the hubs
- It is advisable to drive on a bad road at low speed
- Check discs for cracks and chips
- Balance every 10,000 kilometers
To summarize, we can conclude that the best option is to install alloy wheels with a 17 radius on the Niva. With them, excellent cross-country ability of an SUV will be achieved.
It is very important to follow traffic rules on the road. For safe driving on a Chevrolet Niva, it is important that the car has wheels that correspond to the parameters of this car and are provided by the manufacturer, otherwise you will have to constantly change the wheel bearings. Discs should be forged or cast, not too heavy. Wash your car more often, preferably at a car wash. It is important to install tires on your car according to the time of year. Maintain your vehicle and operate it correctly.
Types of disks
According to the material and method of manufacturing parts, wheels are divided into three main types:
- Stamped. The simplest and cheapest products are made by stamping from rolled steel. They are inexpensive and, in case of deformation of the rim, are easily restored. However, the stamping is too heavy, which affects the car’s handling and the life of the suspension parts. Also, stamped products bend easily and rust quickly. Price - from 1500 rubles.
- Cast. Wheels made of aluminum and other light alloys are at least 20% lighter than steel. They look attractive, are highly durable and do not rust. But light alloy wheels are much more expensive than stamped ones and are more fragile. Unlike steel ones, they can crack or burst from a strong impact. Price - from 3000 rubles.
- Forged. The difference with cast wheels is that these wheels undergo additional mechanical and heat treatment. After which lighter and stronger products are obtained. Forged wheels are more resistant to corrosion than cast wheels. But they are the most expensive. Price - from 3900 rubles.
How to extend the life of disks
The lifespan of new wheels depends on several factors:
- Purity. Dirt and, in particular, aggressive substances that are used to combat ice, destroy the protective coating and promote corrosion. Therefore, dirty wheels must be cleaned and washed immediately.
- Timely repairs. Paintwork defects, dents and metal cracks must be repaired immediately after they appear. Otherwise, the problem grows exponentially.
- Correct tire fitting. Often, discs become deformed or scratched as a result of the actions of unscrupulous or inexperienced tire service workers. Therefore, if possible, you need to use the services of trusted professionals.
- Driving style. The main danger to wheels is road potholes, into which the car “flies” at high speed. Therefore, the more careful the driver and the calmer the driving style, the longer the discs will last.
Important: it is not advisable to use “bracelets” - snow chains. They damage paintwork and scratch metal.
What kind of car are the wheels suitable for?
Some car enthusiasts are wondering what wheels can be installed on the Niva. The most common question is whether it is possible to install larger wheels. There can be quite a lot of reasons for such a desire. Some people want to get a more “tough” appearance, because a car on larger wheels looks more solid. Other drivers are interested in increasing cross-country ability. Larger wheel diameters allow for increased ground clearance, and such wheels usually have higher tread. As you can see, there are a lot of reasons for selecting disks instead of standard ones. Let's figure out which wheels should be installed on this domestic SUV.
Lada 4×4 3D Gan-Gan › Logbook › Japanese wheels from Escudo to Niva
Hi all. Another batch of tuning has arrived. Namely, the wheels came from a Suzuki Escudo. Size 16x7 jj.
Japanese wheels in Russian dirt. Let's see. Put on the rubber.
In appearance, the car has become more interesting. Next season I plan to put 235/85 16 on these wheels. The arches will need some work. and then replacing the tires with a normal Jeep size!
Standard sizes
What wheels can be installed on a Niva? Let's start with those wheels that are installed as a basic option. Factories supply VLI-5 tires, its standard size is 175/80 R16. Its main advantage is good cross-country ability, especially on wet clay. That's it, the positive features end there. The disadvantages of standard tires are as follows:
- Low handling on asphalt;
- High noise level when driving over 60 km/h;
- Presence of a camera;
- In the cold it becomes a “stake”.
As you can see, there are a large number of shortcomings. All this forces farmers to look for alternative options, since there are quite a lot of them on the market.
Replacement
Tires with a diameter of R16 are offered as a standard option. But, when choosing analogues, problems arise. This size is produced very rarely. Therefore, drivers often use R15 tires. Actually, this is not a violation. The manufacturer allows the use of such tires on Niva cars. Here you can choose the most suitable option for you.
When choosing, pay attention to additional indicators. Using wheels that are too large may require modifications to the vehicle. Below we will consider the main variations possible for use on the Niva. Please note that the options listed apply to the entire range.
215/75 R15
Usually, such rubber falls into place without any modifications. You just need to choose the right disk. Its diameter should be between 27-28 inches. Be sure to check the disc offset. The 35-58 mm option is suitable. In this configuration, you can freely install wheels without any additional intervention. But sometimes contact between the tires and the body may occur. This happens in the following cases:
- When the vehicle is heavily loaded;
- When traveling over big bumps;
- When suspension parts pass extreme points.
These are the disadvantages of this rubber.
By installing such tires, you will get greater cross-country ability, this is achieved by higher ground clearance, as well as by the large tread characteristic of these tires. Fuel consumption is also reduced. You don't have to lift the car; the ground clearance is already more than impressive. Thus, the advantages of such rubber outweigh all the disadvantages.
Among the all-terrain variants of this tire, the Dunlop Grand trek AT3
and
Yokohama Geolandar
.
These tires have proven themselves well in mud, sand and shallow snow. On dry asphalt they are somewhat inferior to analogues created specifically for highways. For city and dirt road trips, you can choose the Cordiant Off Road
or
the Kumho Road Venture
.
When traveling in deep snow (ice conditions), Nokian Hakkapeliitta SUV 7
and
Michelin Latitude X-ice North
. This tire is made taking into account all the features of snowy roads; studs are used for better grip. Also, they use a Scandinavian tread pattern, which provides maximum traction in conditions of heavy snow cover. All of the listed variations can be freely installed on Niva without any modifications.
Sizes 235/75 and 240/80 R15
If the car is used for trips into nature (fishing, hunting), then it makes sense to bother installing more solid tires. This will allow you to operate the car on any off-road conditions. But, for installation you will have to make some modifications, otherwise the new wheels simply will not fit into the wheel arches.
The first thing to do is lift the suspension. This will increase ground clearance and eliminate the need to widen the arches. To do this, you can use a lifting kit from AvtoVAZ. It includes everything you need. The quality of the parts is quite high, you can also look at offers from companies producing tuning parts. Raising the car is not enough. It is necessary to modify the gearbox; the existing ones cannot cope with the increased load. Instead of the standard gear ratio of 3.9, 4.44 is installed. The last thing to do is increase the disc offset. To do this, use light alloy spacers. For greater reliability, it is advisable to install a hub with double-row bearings in the steering knuckle; they are more resistant to loads.
There are plenty of off-road tires of these sizes on the market. Choose the option that is most suitable for the cost, their quality is approximately the same.
Conclusion
. The Niva's standard tires do not quite meet modern requirements for off-road and all-purpose tires. Therefore, many are interested in what wheels can be installed on the Niva. In fact, the choice is quite large, but if you want to make a truly off-road car, you will have to tinker with modifying the suspension.
Absolutely every driver has at least once had the thought that it’s time to get bigger wheels. Because the stock Nyvka is, of course, good, but as they say - more wheels - more possibilities. Therefore, let’s figure out what a driver will have to face in order to install tires of a larger diameter and, in general, whether it’s worth doing. Here we will try to present everything as simply and clearly as possible, because looking for answers on forums is long and painful for many)) Because many people are absolutely not happy with driving the Vli-5))
Basically, here we will collect all your questions and answers to them.
Is it worth switching to 15-inch wheels?
I think you know that most tire drivers are switching from standard 16″ wheels to 15″ ones. For what? The answer is prosaic - the choice of tires with a 15″ fit is many times greater than for 16. That’s why they switch, because they want to install a meaner rubber, but with 16″ options the cat cried. No, of course, if you drive a Kama Flame, then leave the standard wheels. But I think you will soon feel that you should at least install Cordiant.
In general, then I’ll write a separate article about normal 16″ tires for the Niva. In the meantime, I recommend these cool “slippers” K-139 - they will fit on the Niva without modifications, they row perfectly and you don’t need to think about buying 15 discs. Although the choice of 15 tires is simply gorgeous, here you will also find Goodrich, Mudrichi, Hankuki and other well-known mud tires.
What is the maximum tire size for a Niva without modifications (lift, cutting arches)?
If the car is new, then few people will want to cut the arches - this is a fact. So the answer is this: the maximum you can set is 215-75-R15. I have this one on my Shevik, which is stock, by the way. However, there’s an immediate counter-question here: what kind of wheels to take for these tires, because everything is right next to each other, and if you get smart about the takeoff, the tires will rub against the wheel arch liners. The answer is that you need to take wheels with an offset of 40, or at least 35.
So if you are looking towards 235 tires, then get ready to prepare the car, cut arches, lift, change the main pairs, etc. Do you need it? An increase of 1.5 cm in ground clearance, and work per million. It makes sense to use 235 tires only when you are planning to seriously offroad. And if you simply want to put the biggest wheels possible on your Nivko without any modifications, then your choice is 215-75-R15.
What disc offset will be optimal for Niva chassis parts?
The basic rule is “wider and larger wheels - less offset”, but within reasonable limits. Because many people like to set the offset to zero and the car will be very unstable on sharp turns and big tires. Maintain balance))
Everything will depend on the size of the wheels. As you know, the factory recommendation is offset 58. Therefore, the closer the offset of your disk is to this indicator, the better. ET 58 is recommended because the wheels from the factory are very small; K-156 tires seem to be 185-75-16 in size. For such small wheels the reach is appropriate, maybe more.
Therefore, if you decide to change the stock wheels (and this is what 99 percent of drivers decide to do after their first rides), then you will have to take different wheels, with a smaller offset. Larger tire diameter means shorter disc offset. But you need to maintain a balance, strive to be closer to ET58. Why is this necessary? The answer is the closer the offset is to ideal, the better for your suspension and bearings.
And therefore, on wheels 205/70/R15 (most often nivovods install Cordiant Off Road in this size and do it right) you need wheels with an offset of 48. You can put thirty-fifths, but these will be better. The car will be intact.
Well, if you decide to set the maximum without modifications to 215/75/R15, then reduce the ET to 35 and it will be normal. If you put it on wheels with forty-eighth, there is a possibility of wiping.
I want to install 215/65/R16 tires - what wheels are suitable?
“Sneakers” of this size are considered almost ideal for a stock Niva - there is no need to take separate wheels, the dynamics are normal, the size is slightly larger than the standard one, there is no need to cut/lift anything. If you are not going to do much “bezdorov”, but purely for mushrooms, berries, fishing, hunting, and not particularly drilling, then the choice can be considered ideal.
As for the wheels, the answer is 40-45 offset, forty-five is better, of course. Closer to the recommended one is better for the machine. Put more and it will wipe with the steering wheel turned out.
Drilling or bolting of disks is recorded as two numbers (for example, 4x100). The first number shows the number of hub bolts on the disk. The second (called PCD) is the diameter of the circle (in millimeters) where these bolts are located. For safety reasons, it is not recommended to install wheels that have a bolt pattern different from the factory one. Do you know what the bolt pattern of Niva 4x4 wheels is?
The bolt pattern of Niva 2121/2131 rims is 5×139.7 . This means the disc is held on by 5 bolts, which are located at a diameter of 139.7 mm.
Niva Chevrolet
The standard wheel size for this car is R15. Mostly they install alloy wheels, which have gained great popularity. But if the car is used in Russian off-road conditions, it is more promising to install wheels of larger diameter - 16-17.
It must be said that their installation will require additional work. To increase the ground clearance, you will have to install special spacers. It will also be necessary to slightly change the design of the chassis.
Diameter | Departure | Width | Wheel hub hole, mm | Number of hub mounting holes | Bolt pattern of holes | Wheel size |
R15 – R17 | ET 40 -48 | 6.0 – 6.5J | 98,6 | 5 | 139,7 | 205/75R15 |
Wheel markings may have several letters and numbers. In order to choose the right wheel for a Chevrolet Niva, you need to clearly understand the meaning of all the parameters indicated on it. Let's take, for example, the marking 6.5Jx16H2 PCD5x139.7 ET48 DIA98.6.
J – rim type and profile type,
16Н2 – mounting diameter equal to 16 inches,
Н2 – number of protrusions preventing rubber from slipping,
PCD – English designation for dimensions of attachment to the surface of the hub,
5 – number of mounting holes,
139.7 – diameter of their location,
ET – indicator of the disc extending beyond the plane of the car,
When choosing wheels for an SUV VAZ 2121, 21214 Niva, you should initially decide on the purpose of their installation. Some car enthusiasts like to drive their cars off-road, and some drive strictly in urban conditions, and installing new rims on wheels for them is another item of sophistication and luxury, but not practicality.
Having chosen suitable disks, do not rush to purchase them. To begin with, be sure to choose the right tires for them, so that the wheels grip the road as well as possible, and are reliable and practical. How to do it? You can find out the answer by reading this article.
Which cars are suitable for Niva 4x4 wheels?
List of cars with wheel bolt pattern like Niva 4x4 (5x139.7):
- Niva chevrolet
- Volga (GAZ 31024, 29), depending on the year of manufacture.
- Suzuki Escudo
- Suzuki Jimni
Let us remind you that before installing wheels on the Niva, make sure that the other parameters correspond to the factory ones (offset, rim width and centering hole). For example, the Kia Sorento has wheels with a bolt pattern like the Niva, but the centering hole is smaller. The latest generation Suzuki Grand Vitara, on the contrary, has a large central hole diameter. And the Kia Sportage (1994-2004) may have different disc offsets.
Key words: Niva wheels
Niva 21214
In the factory configuration, the car is equipped with disks, which are fastened with five bolts.
- Circle diameter – 139.7 mm;
- Bolts M12x1.25 mm;
- Departure ET58;
- The diameter of the hub hole is 98.5 mm.
Of course, other models can be installed on the car, but only with a certain standard size:
Size | Rim width and offset |
175/80 R16 | 5J, 51/2J – 48-50 |
195/70 R15 | 51/2J, 6J, ET 45 |
205/70 R15 | 6J, 61/2J, ET 40 |
