Are white turn signals allowed or prohibited?
So, both front and rear turn signals, according to both of the above legal acts, are classified as external lighting devices for 2021. The color of external lighting devices is regulated by the appendix to the traffic rules “Basic provisions for the approval of vehicles for operation.” More precisely, its section 3, which prohibits the operation of a car if:
3.6. The vehicle is equipped with:
- in front - lighting devices with lights of any color other than white, yellow or orange, and retroreflective devices of any color other than white;
- at the rear - reverse lights and state registration plate lights with lights of any color other than white, and other lighting devices with lights of any color other than red, yellow or orange, as well as retroreflective devices of any color other than red.
As you can see, it seems that, according to traffic regulations, white lights can be installed on a car. But there is one “but”. The technical regulations of the Customs Union, as we noted above, also regulate the color of turn signals. And, according to him, turn signals should only be yellow.
1.12. Colors of lights. Lights, headlights, direction indicators, and reflective devices must have the colors indicated in Table 1.1.

But bad luck, you cannot be fined for violating the color of the turn signals of the Technical Regulations, because the first part of Article 12.5, the only one providing for a fine for violating the Basic Provisions regarding white turn signals, refers specifically to the Basic Provisions. This means that there is no penalty directly for the white color of turn signals, although they are prohibited by the Technical Regulations. But there is a fine for changing the design of a car under the same part of Article 12.5 of the Administrative Code.
We have already explained in the corresponding article that there are car components provided by the car manufacturer, and there are those that are not provided. And the manufacturer himself is obliged to be guided by the same Technical Regulations when assembling cars. Therefore, according to the Technical Regulations as of 2021, a component such as a white light bulb in the direction indicators cannot be a component certified for installation on a car of any model and brand produced for sale in Russia.
This, in turn, means that you are making changes to the design of the vehicle by installing a white lamp in the turn signal (it does not matter whether it is a front or rear turn signal).
Clause 7.18 of the List of faults and conditions under which the operation of vehicles is prohibited establishes a ban on the operation of a vehicle if changes have been made to its design without their registration with the traffic police. This means that a fine of 500 rubles is now imposed under Part 1 of Article 12.5 of the Administrative Code. But not only a fine can be imposed for such a harmless change - read below about the cancellation of car registration for the color of turn signals.
White turn signals in the headlights of VAZ-2107, 2105 and 2104
Dear friends, today we will tell you how to independently make and install white turn signals in the headlights of VAZ-2107, 2105 and 2104. The procedure is not complicated, but it requires care. about how to remove the headlight on a VAZ-2107 and remove and glue in its glass ; we will not repeat it. We will need additional glass from the additional reversing light of the VAZ-2106 - 2 pieces, “Cold welding” - 1 tube and sealant for headlights (black) - 1 tube. So as not to confuse anyone, we show in the photo which one we are talking about:
We will use glass with a diffuser from it; it fits almost perfectly instead of the standard orange turning glass.
So, we've already removed the headlight, cut out the glass from it, let's move on to the modifications, we need to cut off this extra piece of plastic from the standard turn reflector. Attention - try not to touch the inner surface of the reflector, then the prints are almost impossible to eliminate:
Now we take “cold welding”, cut off two centimeters and stir according to the instructions, the main thing is not to stir for too long, as soon as you feel that the mixture has become soft, immediately apply. Because it hardens quickly, and if you apply it half-hardened, it will stick very poorly. Next, insert the reflector into the glass, remembering to push it tightly to the edge of the glass and maintain an angle of 90 degrees. We apply a thin layer of our “welding” as shown in the photo:
Then we let this entire structure dry for about half an hour and put this entire kitchen in place, install and secure the turn signal, and glue the glass into the headlight:
We wrap everything with tape, fix the glass and let it dry for a day:
Congratulations, the headlights are ready to be installed on the car:
Now a little life hack for a light bulb. As you know, according to the requirements of the traffic police technical regulations, the turn signal must still blink orange. For this we buy a lamp with orange glass. But in truth, it is visible through our newly installed white and somewhat spoils the overall aesthetic appearance. We solved this problem as follows. You need to take silver powder, it costs a penny and is available in any hardware store. We clamp the light bulb into the socket, wipe it dry and dip it in the powder, take it out and blow off the excess. A thin film will remain, the main thing is not to touch it with your hands.
Now we install the light bulb in the socket, it now has a silver appearance, and blinks orange, as it should be. This is what headlights with white corners look like when installed on a car:

Are red turn signals allowed or prohibited?
But the red color of the turn signals is a little more confusing:
- The main provisions of the traffic rules are that red turn signals are prohibited in the front, but not prohibited in the rear,
- Technical regulations prohibit red lights in both front and rear turn signals.
The punishment for red turn signals at the rear in 2021 is the same as for white turn signals in a circle - a fine of 500 rubles under Part 1 of Article 12.5 of the Administrative Code.
But for red turn signals on the front of the car, the Code of Administrative Violations provides for a separate punishment, providing for deprivation of rights for a fairly considerable period:
Article 12.5 3. Driving a vehicle on the front of which there are installed lighting devices with red lights or red reflective devices, as well as lighting devices, the color of the lights and the operating mode of which do not comply with the requirements of the Basic Provisions for the admission of vehicles to operation and the duties of officials persons responsible for ensuring road safety, entails deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a period of six months to one year with confiscation of the specified devices and accessories.
And, if in the case of xenon, deprivation under this article is illegal, then in the case of prohibited red turn signals it is quite possible.

Tuning is a change and modification of the factory settings of the car. Tuning a VAZ with your own hands is a labor-intensive task, so we decided to share some instructions for modifying a VAZ 2104. Tuning can be cheap and expensive, superficial and deep. The modification of the VAZ 2107 is considered in sections: interior tuning, suspension and steering tuning, braking system and body tuning, as well as engine tuning and gearbox tuning. First of all, when tuning a VAZ 2105, you should pay attention to the ignition system. The classic is a popular car that provides its owner with a wide range of tuning and modifications.
It all started when I somehow rubbed the snow on the headlight that was on... Simply put, the glass cracked. So I decided, since I’m going to glue in the new glass, I’ll make white turn signals at the same time. In the process of preparing and reading the forum, it turned out that the headlights for 2105-07 are different... let's call them “new” and “old” models.
On the headlight of the “new” model, the VAZ 2104 turn signal lens is unscrewed (there is nothing difficult about removing it). But in the “old” model headlight it is attached in some other way. There is also another significant difference, namely: the lens of the old headlight is square, and the new one is rectangular. A sawn reflector from a chisel can easily fit into an old-style headlight, but it will not fit into a new one, because... does not fit in width on one side. I bought lenses for foglights, rectangular white, plastic. I’ll say right away that they fit without sawing or alterations. What was purchased: Diffusers (2 pcs.) – 40 rubles each. per piece Black sealant (2 pcs.) - 60 rubles each. per piece Orange light bulbs – (2 pcs.) – 50 rub. pair Degreaser (was at home) TOTAL: 250 rub.
What you need to have on hand: Knife Screwdriver Soap solution Rubber gloves Electrical tape Rags So, 1. I advise you to disconnect the headlight wiring, first remembering the location of all the wires. 2. Peel off the glass. Factory sealant is difficult to remove. But if you cut it with a knife in the right places (between the glass and the plastic of the headlight), then the glass comes out quickly. But the actual stripping, cleaning of the glass and the VAZ 2105 headlight itself from this sealant took a lot of time. We used a knife and a screwdriver 3. When everything is ready, we get to work on the VAZ 2107 turn signal itself. Unscrew the two screws and remove the whole thing. The fact is that the reflector itself has different wall lengths. We take a hacksaw and cut it off as shown in the photo. This is done so that when the turn signal is illuminated, the light does not fall into the headlight itself and vice versa. Next, we apply the reflector and glue it in the places shown in the photo. It is just a little too tall to be able to screw the old reflector into place. And without hesitation, I decided to glue it. I used super glue and purchased sealant. 4. Then we prepare several rags (so as not to get dirty with the sealant; by the way, it cannot be washed), and a soap solution. Degrease surfaces. We apply sealant around the entire perimeter, apply glass, apply another layer of sealant directly on top of the glass. And level the sealant with a finger dipped in a soap solution (or better yet, a rubber glove). I recommend leveling the top part more carefully, because... it is visible when the headlights are put in place. After that, we press the glass and tighten it with electrical tape (I don’t recommend using tape. I used it and then got tired of peeling the glue off the glass). And leave it for a day. In fact, in the process of work, many little things arise that you can’t even remember, but I tried to remember all the important ones.
