AvtoVAZ showed what the Vesta digital panel will look like

The Lada Vesta instrument panel is located behind the steering column so that the driver can control all the displayed information. The panel contains dial gauges, an information board, as well as warning and prohibiting lamps. If any of these elements fail, it is recommended to immediately eliminate the malfunction - ignorance of any information from the dashboard can lead to unpleasant consequences. It is especially important to maintain the coolant temperature gauge, critical oil pressure lamp and brake system malfunction in good condition.

In most cases, the cause of failure of control lamps is the burnout of the lamps themselves, which can be replaced by knowing how to remove the instrument panel on a VAZ. In this case, it is not necessary to remove the dashboard or steering wheel - the instrument panel can be removed separately without much difficulty.

How to disassemble the dashboard of Lada Vesta

The instrument panel on Vesta has a modern design.
The main readings are located in three large wells and are illuminated using SMD diodes. If necessary, this backlight can be replaced, but to do this you will have to first disassemble the Vesta instrument cluster. We looked at how to remove the dashboard earlier. After this, you will no longer need tools, because... Absolutely everything is held on by latches and clamps. There is not a single fastening screw. To remove the glass you will have to unclip several fasteners around the perimeter of the instrument panel:

Next, we dismantle the mask (covering in the form of wells), freeing the latches from engagement:

Probably the most difficult thing in the whole process is to remove the arrows of the instrument cluster. They should be unscrewed counterclockwise, and with good force, towards yourself. Very carefully, you can easily break the gear stop!

Conclusion

The process of installing a 2-channel PWM controller is not complicated, the sequence of actions is intuitive if you have an electrical power supply circuit.

If difficulties arise, contact the service station masters to provide qualified, substantive assistance.

What is better: updating the stock ECU firmware to the latest version, currently 035, or installing a 2-channel PWM controller? It is impossible to give a definite answer, since every car enthusiast has his own opinion and vision.

According to auto electricians, a 2-channel PWM controller has wider functionality and programming capabilities than the stock firmware of the electronic control unit.

Recommendations from service station experts

The dashboard or “dashboard”, as it is called among motorists, serves to display and display information about the technical condition of the car online.

In the event of equipment breakdown, light indicators notify the driver for prompt decision-making.

The instrument panel rarely fails and has an unlimited service life. But in the event of an accident, mechanical damage to the housing, it still needs to be replaced. Less often, it is removed to be covered with felt to prevent squeaking.

The main steps when removing the Lada Vesta panel:

  1. Stop the engine and squeeze the parking brake lever.
  2. Open the driver's door wide.
  3. Set the steering wheel to the “center” position.
  4. Unscrew the two frame fixing screws.
  5. Remove the plastic base (wells).
  6. Remove two screws from the base.
  7. Remove the instrument panel.
  8. Disconnect the block with wires.
  9. After maintenance, reassemble in reverse order.

Prerequisites

The car constantly throws up problems that have to be solved either using independent knowledge, ingenuity and tips from experienced car owners, or by contacting a service center. In the latter case, the result will be more expensive, but not always of better quality.

Even if you are not going to do this right now, it still doesn’t hurt to know how to properly disassemble the panel on a VAZ 2110, and even more so if you are one step away from this work.

Solution

Due to numerous requests to resolve the issue with the lack of instrument lighting in the Lada Vesta, which were sent to AvtoVAZ, the Russian plant produced new firmware. After this, already in the last days of June, all the necessary materials were sent from the factory to the dealership centers to update the firmware of the Lada Vesta dashboard.

And from the first days of July, dealership centers received new firmware. This software is marked with the index 35, while the previous version, which is installed on many sedans, is indicated with the index 26. Software 35 is focused on turning on the backlight of Vesta’s instruments when the daytime running lights are turned on.

The video demonstrates the backlight at PO 35

The firmware changes quite quickly - usually no more than a quarter of an hour. In addition, as reported by Ladnaya Mechanics, this service is paid and costs about 600 rubles.

It's much more comfortable to drive with the lights on.

When you need it

It should be noted that the instrument panel on the VAZ 2110 is not particularly durable, so it can simply be damaged. Or it has become worn, frayed, scratched.

But often the reason is different: I would like the design to be more beautiful, and not everyone is satisfied with the “standard” lighting. And there are more modern ones, LED, stylish. But in order to change anything or even replace it, you must first disassemble the old instrument panel.

The tachometer is located on the left side of the instrument panel. Inside its scale, starting from the top center, there are eight indicators. If you list them from the top clockwise, it will look like this:

  • pedal adjustment;
  • seat belt indicator, which will light up if the driver or passenger is not fastened;
  • airbag icon;
  • backup indicator light, connected when installing additional devices and systems;
  • brake failure icon;
  • battery charge indicator;
  • sign of engine malfunction;
  • low oil pressure sign.
  1. turning on ABS;
  2. low tire pressure, receives data from tire sensors;
  3. gearbox malfunctions;
  4. electric power steering controller.

The speedometer is located in the center. Inside its scale, at the top, there are six indicators:

  • trunk open icon;
  • open hood indicator;
  • alarm indicator;
  • open door icon;
  • cruise control indicator;
  • speed limit icon.

Below the speedometer there is a liquid crystal display displaying the main functions and parameters. There are arrows to the right and left above the display that indicate the turn signals are on.

In the right block of the shield, at the top, there is a coolant temperature scale.

It is also prohibited to drive a car with an overheated engine. When the 115 degree mark is exceeded, the indicator will remain constantly red and the driver will hear an intermittent beep. Below the scale is the immobilizer icon. Just below are two icons indicating whether the electronic stability control system is on/off. At the bottom of this part there is a fuel level scale in the tank. To the left of which there is an indicator for turning on the reserve fuel volume.

On the right, between these scales, from top to bottom are:

  1. indicator for turning on dimensions;
  2. low beam icon;
  3. front PTF turn-on indicator;
  4. rear PTF activation icon.

For some motorists, the Lada vesta sw cross control panel stops functioning over time and works intermittently. Such problems arise if the following malfunctions appear:

  1. The contact between the on-board network and the instrument panel is deteriorating. Such problems arise if the contacts or connectors have certain damage.
  2. Indicators and sensors fail. Inaccurate information is displayed on the dashboard if the fuel level indicator, speed sensor, etc. have failed. This causes the master data to fail.
  3. The integrity of the shield is compromised due to strong vibration or mechanical stress. The front shield is being replaced. This procedure is performed by masters.
  4. The included electronic board is faulty. Its functionality is restored by specialists. No backlight indicates that certain bulbs have burned out.

Disassembly procedure

Many people are interested in whether it is possible to remove the dashboard of a VAZ 2110 without “demolishing” the floor of the cabin? It's probably possible, but it would be very inconvenient.

Therefore, we act according to this plan:

  1. Let's prepare a marker and self-adhesive labels (which are usually glued to the product). They can be bought at points where all sorts of small things are sold such as napkins, bags, etc., as well as in stationery stores;
  2. We remove the front seats from the interior;
  3. We unscrew the screws on the sides, remove the tunnel (first its upper part, then the lower);
  4. We disassemble the steering column casing, remove it and the steering wheel. To do this, you need to unscrew 3 self-tapping screws and 4 screws. Please note that the VAZ 2110 steering wheel sits quite tightly on the splines, so you need to remove it by rocking and tugging, but being careful of a sharp blow to the face, if you suddenly overdo it and it will fly out;
  5. Next are the steering column switches. They also need to be removed;
  6. Don’t forget to mark everything and write down on a piece of paper what we are filming;
  7. We unscrew the glove compartment (in “understandable” language - the glove compartment) and also take it out;
  8. Next comes the disassembly of the mounting block and its cover. To do this, disconnect all connectors and relays;
  9. Now we have almost opened the instrument panel on the VAZ 2110. All that remains is to remove the strut covers, unscrew the headlight hydraulic adjustment and push it inward;
  10. Now the main task is to unscrew the screws securing the instrument panel to the body. To remove it completely, you need to unscrew the two studs located under the covers of the tunnels for supplying air to the side windows.

After all these manipulations, the panel hangs, and is held in place only by the steering shaft and the lower air duct.

Do-it-yourself firmware

You need to be aware that all actions are performed at your own peril and risk. No one can guarantee that after installing the firmware yourself, the device will work correctly. To prevent this outcome, it is recommended to update the panel either at an authorized dealer or at specialized service stations.

There is no need to confuse the panel firmware with the multimedia firmware - these are different devices.

The cost of such a service varies from 1,500 to 2,500 thousand rubles. This is much cheaper than buying a new shield to replace a damaged one yourself. For dismantling and reflashing, the warranty may be revoked if the procedure is not carried out by an authorized dealer. If you decide to update the software yourself, you will need to make a backup copy of the standard firmware, then prepare the necessary tools:

  1. A device for flashing Usbdm OSBDM V4.95 - can be ordered on AliExpress, the cost is approximately 600-700 rubles.
  2. Install drivers and software for Windows from the disk included with the programmer.
  3. Dismantle the instrument panel, peel off the factory seal, and remove the cover from the back.
  4. Open the programmer and move the checkbox to the 3.3V position - at this voltage you will not need an external power source.
  5. Connect to the dashboard and PC.
  6. On a computer or laptop, open the HCS12 Programmer program, select and click on the “Detected” item.
  7. Go to the “Target” item and select the folder with the location of the firmware, check the box next to the “Auto Reload” item, then click on “Detect Chip”. The programmer will determine the chip type automatically.
  8. Go to the “Security” tab and check the “Unsecure” box.
  9. In the “Advanced” tab, check the “Enable” box.
  10. In the “Device Operations” section on the “Target” tab, select the “Erase Selective” item - only the firmware will be replaced, the immobilizer data and mileage will be saved.

Now you can click on the “Program Flash” button - the firmware process will start. This will last a few seconds. After completion, when prompted by the program to connect the dashboard, click “No”. The flashing device can be turned off and the instrument panel replaced.

What to do with the wires?

You will probably be amazed at the number of wires located in the panel space, intended to power various devices in your VAZ 2110. It would be more convenient to remove everything together with a lump of wires. But take your time. It is unlikely that you are going to change anything on a completely new car, so in the future you will spend a long time figuring out which wire comes from what, and how to connect it. So that it turns out that disassembly went quite smoothly, but reassembly led to a slight stupor.

Disassembled instrument panel of VAZ 2110

So try to disconnect all the connectors and wires that you can. Now you can finally remove the panel and remove it from the car. For fresh traces, do not forget to separate (you can tie in a pile) the entire wiring harness that belongs directly to the instrument panel, and mark the rest with self-adhesives. This will help you a lot when you start installing new equipment.

What does the dashboard consist of?

The Priora instrument panel contains all the necessary parts that no modern car can do without:

  • regulator of external lighting and internal panel lighting;
  • switch for turning, side and headlights;
  • signal regulator;
  • car instrument cluster;
  • windshield wiper and washer regulator.

This is how the dashboard works

In addition, the panel contains an ignition switch connected to the anti-theft system. It contains 3 positions. Among the secondary mechanisms, we can note the presence of regulators for the rear window heating system, alarm and interior cooling. It is also worth mentioning the glove compartment, built-in clock and radio input jack.

Sometimes a certain panel element becomes unusable and you have to look for ways to replace it. In this case, you will need to disassemble the interior. Below is how to disassemble the instrument panel.

Designation of light bulbs and sensors on the tidy

Designation of lamps and devices on the Vesta dashboard

First, let's take a look at the location and description of the components of the dashboard in the Lada Vesta:

Tachometer. Thanks to this device, the driver knows what the crankshaft operating frequency is, that is, at what speed the engine operates. Do not allow the instrument needle to move into the red zone, as this may lead to damage to the power unit. If you press the gas pedal to the floor, while the speed exceeds 6200 rpm, the fuel supply will be limited. Experts also recommend not allowing the engine to operate in a dangerous mode, when the speed is less than 800 per minute. "Pedal adjustment" indicator. The seat belt icon is always on if the driver or passenger is not fastened. Indicator. If it appears for no reason, the problem may be a failure of the airbag sensor or its poor contact with the electrical network. A backup light bulb can be connected when installing additional devices or systems. Brake failure indicator; when it appears, you should stop the car and check that the brakes are working properly. The trunk door is unlocked icon; when it appears, you should check the trunk. Unlocked hood symbol. If it starts to light up on the dashboard, while the hood is normally closed, you need to check the functionality of the sensor. Speedometer

This device is considered one of the main ones, since the driver pays attention to it more often than others. The device is used to demonstrate the speed of movement. The hazard warning light icon always flashes when the hazard lights are activated. Unlocked doors symbol

If the car starts moving with one or more doors open, a corresponding light will appear on the dashboard. Cruise control system indicator. The speed limiter indicator appears if the driver exceeds the permissible speed. This device indicates the temperature of the antifreeze in the cooling system. If the indicator fails, the vehicle cannot be operated as it reports the engine temperature. If this value exceeds the permissible value of 115 degrees, the light will light red without interruption, and the buzzer should also sound briefly. At high temperatures, the engine may simply fail. Icon of the standard anti-theft system - immobilizer. Icon for turning on side lighting. Symbol for switching on low beam. LED high beam activation icon. The indicator for turning on the front PTFs always appears when they are activated. The icon for turning on rear-mounted foglights is similar. ESC light - electronic stability control system. The ESC OFF symbol indicates that the system is turned off. The fuel level sensor in the tank is used by the driver to guide him when he needs to refuel the car. The reserve fuel volume activation icon appears when there is little gasoline left in the tank. LCD display with main parameters and options. The right turn signal icon stops flashing after the maneuver is completed. Left turn signal activation symbol. ABS system activation lamp.

The battery icon may always appear when the ignition is turned on, but should disappear after starting the engine. If the indicator remains on, this indicates the need to charge the battery or diagnose the generator unit. The light indicator for emergency low tire pressure receives data from the corresponding sensors installed in the wheels. Symbol of problems with the gearbox. Icon of faults detected in the operation of the motor. There can be many reasons; when a symbol appears, more detailed diagnostics are required. Electric power steering controller. Symbol of emergency low oil pressure in the internal combustion engine. It also always appears when the ignition is turned on and disappears after the engine starts (the author of the video is Yuri T*********O).

How to disassemble the instrument panel?

It often becomes necessary to dismantle the car interior in order to replace a part, for example, backlight bulbs. To do this, first of all, you need to understand how to disassemble the instrument panel. Removing the panel is quite simple. Select the required screwdriver and carefully unscrew the attached hardware.

Disassembling the panel begins with removing the hands on the dial, which can be disconnected with a knife. The main thing is to be careful and not damage the speedometer parts. It is advisable to use cardboard as a holder for glass elements. Replacing the backlight is done by scraping out the cover of the gasket in the speedometer. If you do not need to change the backlight of the sensors, you can simply clean them and leave them brighter.

But in most cases, the driver wants to change the color of some elements in the speedometer and make it much more useful. For example, the backlight of the instrument panel will be able to display the maximum permissible speed or extremely high engine overheating with indicators of a different color. To do this you will need a thin multi-colored cellophane bag.

You need to use a small piece of brightly colored cellophane to cover the indicator you are interested in on the inside of the dial. Dashboard lighting is limited to more than just highlighting indicators. Many motorists try to ensure that the lighting of their devices is uniform.

To achieve brighter and more even illumination, it is necessary to cover the panel with a special LED strip, which must be connected to the stock backlight wires in accordance with all the rules of current resistance. The set of instruments on the Priora can be easily supplemented with the latest method of illuminating the needles.

You can use CMD diodes, which can be easily fused into the glass panel using a soldering iron. To do this, we disassemble the dial and begin soldering directly under the base of the hands. The contact wires must be connected from the reverse side. If the instrument panel in Priora is broken, qualified assistance may be needed to repair it.

But you can easily do it yourself. To do this, you will need a panel pinout, that is, a diagram indicating the correspondence of the contacts with certain car devices. It looks like this:

  • 1 — power steering;
  • 4 - hand brake;
  • 7 — external lighting regulator;
  • 8 — right turn signal;
  • 9 — left turn signal;
  • 12,13 — immobilizer antenna sockets (A and B);
  • 14 — mileage reset regulator;
  • 15 — brake fluid regulator;
  • 18 — instrument panel backlight control;
  • 20 — battery terminal 30;
  • 21 — battery terminal 15;
  • 23,24 — forward and backward buttons on the steering column;
  • 25,26 — outside temperature regulators (- / +);
  • 27 — fuel tank regulator;
  • 31 - panel diagnostic service.

Pinout numbers that were not specified are backup pins.

Lack of arrow indicators

Often, the reason for the lack of indications of arrow indicators is the corresponding sensors. Let's look at each device separately:

  • Tachometer. The cause of failure of the tachometer can only be the device itself, since failure of the crankshaft position sensor or ECU will result in a complete stop of the engine.
  • Speedometer. If the cause of the breakdown is not the device itself, then along with the lack of speed readings you will also see a burning ABS lamp (malfunction of the speed sensors).
  • Coolant temperature gauge. The ECU transmits information from the temperature sensor, a malfunction of which can lead to a lack of readings.
  • Fuel level indicator. The reason for the lack of readings from this device may be a malfunction of the fuel module.

Remove the instrument panel of the Lada Vesta only after diagnosing all the sensors associated with the pointer indicators.
