Wipers on VAZ do not work

Wipers on VAZ do not work

The serviceability of windshield wipers directly affects traffic safety.
It happens that the wipers refuse to work in some mode or do not turn on at all. Why? Windshield wipers of all cars have at least two operating modes - intermittent and constant. For convenience, this list also includes additional options, for example, a slow speed of a constant mode, one stroke for quickly cleaning the glass, and so on, right down to adjusting the pause between strokes.

Technically, this is all quite easy to implement: the intermittent mode creates an electronic or mechanical relay paired with a switch inside the electric motor, and with the constant movement of the brushes, voltage is constantly supplied to the same electric motor. Let's look at typical windshield wiper malfunctions and methods for finding them.

Wipers do not work intermittently

As mentioned above, the breaker relay is responsible for the intermittent operation of the wipers. It can be mechanical (on older cars) or electronic. Accordingly, if the wipers work in constant mode (which is created by bypassing this relay) and do not work in intermittent mode, there is a reason to check the relay.

However, before starting the test, you need to make sure that the relay is receiving voltage from the steering column switch set to the intermittent mode position. It may well be that the malfunction lies in it, and not in the relay. In the steering column switch, in particular, the corresponding contact may oxidize or the wire connecting it to the relay may break.

Based on this, you need to find a wiring diagram for the wipers on your car and check whether current flows from the switch to the relay. If not, look at the switch. If there is current, check the relay.

Wipers do not work constantly

When the windshield wipers work great in intermittent mode, but refuse to move constantly, you can immediately talk about a malfunction in the same steering column switch or problems in the area between it and the wiper motor. Simply put, the voltage from the switch is not supplied to the motor. You also need to check this electrical circuit with a multimeter or a test light to make sure that all terminals are clean and securely fastened.

The wipers don't turn on at all

If the windshield wipers do not react at all to the steering column switch, you should start with a classic check - make sure the fuse is intact. If it is intact, you need to check the steering column switch for voltage supply to it and correct closure of the contacts inside. Most likely, there will be no voltage on it.

A special case of complete failure of the wipers is when they are blocked by something. This could be a wrench left under the hood, a rag, or frozen wiper blades (read what to do if your wiper blades are frozen). For such situations, a special fuse is usually installed in windshield wiper systems. This device saves the wiper motor from overheating and failure by turning off the power. In the simplest case, such a fuse is a heat-sensitive plate that, when heated, changes shape and opens the contact. After turning off the voltage, it returns to its previous position and you can use the device (in this case, the wipers) again.

When the wipers are blocked, they usually still move at least a little from their “parking” position. Therefore, if there is still a slight reaction to switching on, check the freedom of movement of the brushes and trapezoid. Most importantly, do this with the wipers off.

! Accidental activation of the windshield wiper can cause serious injury!

The pause between strokes is not adjustable

If your car has the ability to adjust the pause between wiper sweeps and this function stops working, the adjusting resistor is most likely to blame. This part, depending on the rotation of the knob (or wheel), changes the resistance value in the wiper relay circuit, due to which it is possible to adjust the pause. This resistor should be replaced.

Of all cars, at least some device loses its characteristics over time. VAZ 2107 windshield wipers are no exception. All drivers are looking for the cause of a breakdown or poor performance of their car's windshield wipers, but without understanding how this mechanism works, it is almost impossible to find the cause.

To understand why windshield wipers do not work on a VAZ 2107, you need to know about the system of their operation. The windshield wipers on this machine are equipped with two modes, this is a constant mode in which they operate with reciprocating and intermittent wiper movement.

Main causes of malfunctions and their solutions

Often the reason for the operation of the windshield wiper is absolutely trivial - drafts from the engine were exposed to drafts or foreign objects such as screwdrivers, wrenches, bolts and other equipment that Lada owners like to store in the engine compartment. Carefully inspect the area near the wiper motor and remove any excess. If you find an object that is obstructing the movement of the bars and removes it, but the wiper blades still do not start working, the motor winding may be damaged due to the load.

16.13.1. Windshield wiper repair

Wiring diagram for windshield wiper and washer

1 – washer motor; 2 – windshield wiper and washer switch; 3 – windshield wiper relay; 4 – purifier gear motor;

5 – fuse block; 6 – ignition switch; 7 – generator; 8 – battery.

Repairing a windshield wiper mainly comes down to straightening deformed parts of the lever drive or replacing them with new ones. We recommend replacing a faulty gearmotor with a new one. To check the condition of the gearmotor contacts, removing the windshield wiper is not required.

We remove the cover, opening access to the gearbox.

...and remove the cover.

We unscrew the screw of the bracket securing the wiring harness...

...and remove the panel with the gasket.

We inspect the contacts and conductive paths. We replace broken and worn elements in the assembly.

To remove the windshield wiper, disconnect the connecting block...

...and, having removed the left edge of the hood seal, remove the wiring harness from the panel slot.

Using a 10mm wrench, unscrew the nut securing the brush lever.

Using a 17mm wrench, pull the lever off the axle splines.

Use a 22mm wrench to unscrew the nut...

...and remove the bushing with the rubber gasket.

We also disassemble the drive of the second brush.

Using a 10mm wrench, unscrew the two nuts securing the windshield wiper to the body.

Carefully remove the cleaner, trying not to bend the drive rods.

Using a screwdriver, remove the short rod from the ball pin of the crank.

Using a 10mm wrench, unscrew the nut and remove the crank.

Use a 10mm wrench to unscrew the three bolts...

...and remove the purifier bracket.

To disassemble the gearmotor, remove the cover and panel with wires (as indicated above).

Using a screwdriver, remove the retaining ring.

...protective cap, steel and textolite washers.

After removing the seal and pressing on the axle, we push the gear out of the gearbox.

We remove the textolite and steel washers from its axis.

Using a screwdriver, unscrew the two screws securing the gearbox.

...and remove the motor housing, holding the armature by the worm with a screwdriver.

We remove the armature from the gearbox with the adjusting washer placed on its axis.

A spring and a thrust bearing installed at the end of the channel remain in the cover.

Remove the brushes from the brush holder. To remove dust from the electric motor, blow it with compressed air. We check the condition of the brushes, commutator and armature winding. The brushes must move freely in the brush holders without jamming, and the springs must remain elastic and not be damaged. We clean the collector with fine-grained sandpaper, then wipe it with solvent or gasoline. If the commutator is badly burned or worn out, it is better to replace the electric motor. We begin assembling the windshield wiper by installing the armature in the electric motor cover, for which...

... use a thin screwdriver to bend the end walls of the brush holders.

. and insert the brushes into them, recessing them completely, as far as the slots for the wires allow.

We install an anchor in the lid.

At the ends of the brush holder we insert the springs into place and bend the bent walls of the brush holders.

Having coated the gear and other rubbing joints with Litol-24 lubricant, we carry out further assembly in the reverse order of disassembly.

ATTENTION! To ensure proper operation of the wiper blades (so that the wiper blades stop in the correct position):

. Before installing the gearmotor on the bracket, turn it on for a short time, connecting it to the vehicle’s on-board network via a connector.

Only after the electric motor has completely stopped do we disconnect the block and continue further assembly.

We install the crank parallel to the short drive rod.

Operating principle

On a VAZ 2107 car, the wipers are driven by a 12 V electric motor. A relay is installed in the windshield wiper activation circuit. It is responsible for the intermittent operation of the wipers, which work without interruption or at intervals of four seconds.

The windshield wiper is connected in parallel through the contacts of the closer. They are located in the gearbox housing and are “responsible” for returning the brushes to their original position and abruptly stopping the motor. The driver controls the operating mode of the windshield wiper using the switch. The whole mechanism works thanks to a motor. It is prohibited to operate a car with faulty wipers, so car owners must ensure that they are in good working order. And in bad weather, driving with non-working wipers is very dangerous!

Where does which wire go, or just a diagram

Connecting wipers and washer

“Plus” power is supplied from the ignition switch through fuse No. 2 at 10 Amp of the mounting block. The permanent “plus” goes along the black and yellow wires to contacts “4” of the connectors of the gear motor and the steering column switch. It should not disappear even when the switch is in the “off” position. The blue wire supplies “+” 12 V power to the motor when the switch is in “continuous mode” position. On the blue-white wire, in the “off” position there should be a “minus”, and in the “continuous mode on” position the “minus” is turned off. This is done to slow down the motor when the power to the closer is turned off.

The red wire supplies the relay with “+” 12 V from the switch when the intermittent mode is turned on. At the moment of operation, contacts “2” and “4” close, and “1” and “3” open, the motor starts working and the brushes make one or two movements. Then “+” 12 V is turned off, and contacts “1” and “3” are closed to each other and to “minus”. The motor stops for a few seconds and then the cycle repeats.

VAZ 2106 wipers do not work, relay clicks

Today on the agenda... essentially TWO topics.

The first is the transfer of the standard wiper relay

further away so as not to hear it click.
Often, in traffic jams... or at traffic lights, this clicking sound begins to “drip on my brain.”
I decided to take it away. And the second is the installation of the well-known to many, Relay with adjustable pause of intermittent wiper mode

.
Well, there’s no need to talk about the regular intermittent wiper mode... everyone knows that;
1) He is ONE 2) The pause between strokes is often long... and you have to constantly help the wipers manually. So, let’s talk about these two problems, and how thanks to the second, the first one automatically disappears!

A few words about transferring the standard relay

.

I decided to move it further away, namely to the engine compartment

:

In order to do this, you need to move the block: pull out 2 wires into the engine compartment, and then pull the remaining TWO wires through, then the relay block will be in the engine compartment, next to the relay.

The transfer is not difficult. But it’s understandable that this is not an acquired taste. Some people don’t need it, others will be interested.

VAZ 2107 wiper malfunctions

Replacing a burnt out motor

During the winter season, at sub-zero temperatures, wipers often stick to the windshield. The wiper motor is under a lot of load, and it burns out if the bimetallic fuse does not work or the fuse burns out.

Location of the glass cleaner and washer fuse in the mounting block

In such cases, it is necessary to replace the motor. To do this, you need to remove all the parts in a certain order:

  • Unscrew the fastening nuts;
  • bend the lever and remove it from its seat;
  • Using a 22mm wrench, unscrew the trapezoid fastenings on both sides;
  • remove the plastic inserts;
  • remove the hood seal;
  • remove power from the windshield wiper motor;
  • remove it with the drive from the hole in the body;
  • bend the protective cover, unscrew the fastening nuts;
  • press on the protrusions of the slots on the reverse side, on which the wiper arms sit, so that they fall inward, move in different directions, the trapezoid with the motor will come out.

Video instructions for replacing the windshield wiper trapezoid

After disconnecting the mechanism parts, you can repair the gear or install a new motor. But the electric motor must be inspected, even if it is in working condition. It is a conventional DC electric motor, the rotation of which, through a worm gearbox, is supplied to a trapezoid.

Walk over the collector with a cloth soaked in solvent. If there is a lot of wear, you need to change the armature or motor. Defects on the gear will require it to be replaced. Assembly occurs in reverse order. Therefore, before installing a replacement electric motor, you need to clean the trapezoid from contamination, lubricate the rubbing elements, motor and gearbox.

Trapezius problems

The trapezoid transmits rotational movements from the electric motor to the wipers and ensures the reciprocating movement of the wipers while cleaning the glass. Interruptions in the operation of wipers occur due to problems with the trapezoid; oxidized bushings and corrosion on the axles lead to jamming and slow operation of the mechanism. You can remove the trapezoid with a flat-head screwdriver. To set the correct position when installing the trapezoid, you must:

  • set the motor to the initial position;
  • place the crank and short rod parallel to each other;
  • After that, attach the motor to the trapezoid.

Wiper relay not working

If the wipers fail to operate in intermittent mode, it can be argued that the relay has failed. First you need to check the power supply to the relay block. To do this, you need to remove the relay, turn on the wipers in intermittent mode, and check the voltage at the terminals. If no current flows, you need to repair the open circuit or replace the switch. The design of the relay is such that it cannot be repaired. So, if it does not work under voltage, you need to replace the part with a new one.

Wiper switch

To check the voltage supply to the switch, you need to remove the pads from the steering control or on the relay connection blocks. There is always voltage on the black-yellow wire. Check on the red and gray wires. If there is no voltage on one of them, then you need to change the switch.

Causes of fuse blown.

If the wipers do not work in two positions of the switch, then most likely the fuse has blown, which serves to protect the circuit from short circuits and overloads. When the wiper control lever is set to the "off" position and the blades do not stop at the bottom of the glass or anywhere else, the problem is in the gearbox. It is there that a special switch is installed, which ensures that after turning off the brushes remain in the desired position.

Due to heavy overload of the electric motor, overheating of the wiring, or exposure to water, the fuse may blow. Replacing it is easy, but the cause of the burnout must be found out and eliminated.

VAZ 2106 windshield wiper does not work

What could be the reason for the poor performance of the VAZ 2106 windshield wipers? Let's look at the most common faults that may arise.

The windshield wipers stopped working.

  • The electric motor has failed. The brushes may become stuck or the armature commutator may become clogged with brush dust. Try polishing the commutator or replacing the brushes if they are damaged.
  • Check the condition of the fuse, it may have blown. Also, frequent failure of the fuse can cause jamming of the drive levers or jamming of the gears in the gearmotor.
  • Severe wear and, as a result, failure of the worm gear of the gearbox.

The windshield wipers began to work only at one speed.

  • The windshield wiper switch is faulty or the resistance is faulty.

The windshield wiper does not work, the fuse does not blow.

  • Check the condition of the motor power supply wires, perhaps some of them are broken, check the wires for breakdown and clean the tips if oxidation has formed.
  • Check the condition of the windshield wiper switch; it may be damaged.
  • The surface of the electric motor commutator is severely oxidized or the brushes are stuck. Check and eliminate any defects found.
  • The windshield wiper switch may have failed.
  • There was a break in the armature winding of the electric motor.

The windshield wiper does not work and the fuse blows.

  • This can happen when the brush levers jam or when the brushes freeze to the glass during frost; also, if a foreign object gets into the brush drive mechanism, they could become jammed.
  • A short circuit has occurred in the armature winding of the electric motor.

When the windshield wiper motor is running, the blades do not move.

  • The gear motor failed, and the teeth of its gears could have broken.
  • The slots in the holes of the brush levers are torn off.
  • The crank is loosely secured to the gearbox gear axis.

The wiper operates intermittently, but the blades do not stop.

  • Most likely the problem is a loose contact of the motor switch contacts.

The wiper does not stop intermittently.

  • The windshield wiper relay has failed. Its winding burned out. The relay contacts are burnt.
  • The gear cam of the gearbox does not bend the spring plate of the limit switch.

Why does the windshield washer not work?

All washer malfunctions are divided into two groups: electrical and mechanical.

Mechanical:

  • Lack of liquid. In winter, you cannot use ordinary water, as it may freeze. If the water still freezes, you need to warm up the car engine and leave it in a warm room.
  • The fluid supply hose may fly off or become pinched.
  • The nozzles can also stop the washer from working. Poor quality of water and washer fluid leads to the fact that the fittings become clogged with dirt, rust, and washer fluid does not flow. The injectors are cleaned or new ones are purchased.

Electrical:

  • Fuse F2(10A) has blown.
  • The electric motor does not pump, no fluid flows, which means the terminals are oxidized. You need to clean the terminals and contacts and connect everything.
  • Faulty switch. If the motor does not turn when voltage is present, then this is the reason.
  • Check the pump motor by connecting it directly to the battery; if it starts spinning, then the fault is in the steering column switch.

Tips for motorists

VAZ-2106 windshield wipers are driven by an electric motor that transmits torque through a gearbox to a mechanism that drives the blades. The easiest malfunction of this device to troubleshoot is the weakening of the crank fastening, which occurs due to the loosening of the fastening nut under the influence of vibration. Once you tighten it, everything returns to normal.

Another malfunction that leads to the fact that the blades, after turning off the wipers, do not return to the lower edge of the windshield, occurs due to an increase in the gap between the contacts of the limit switch, or due to their burning. In this case, you will have to either bend or clean these contacts.

If the wipers refuse to work in a mode called intermittent, then the culprit for this malfunction will be the windshield wiper relay. It most likely has stuck contacts or a burnt out winding. The contacts can be cleaned and then the relay will work, but if the winding is at fault, the relay will have to be replaced.

In the cold season, at subzero temperatures, the wiper blades may freeze to the windshield and will not be able to move when the windshield wiper is turned on. In this case, warm water will help to warm them up.

The remaining malfunctions can be divided into two groups: the wiper motor works, but the brushes do not move and when the electric motor does not work. In the first case, the culprit may be a gearbox whose plastic gear teeth have been cut off. In the second case, when the noise of the windshield wiper motor is not heard, there may be many more reasons. This could be a blown fuse or a malfunction in the wiper switch located on the steering column, as well as wear on the commutator brushes.

We disassemble the turn switch for a VAZ 2107

And although many manufacturers of turn switches claim that this is a completely non-separable design, it can still be disassembled with some effort. Disassembly of devices is necessary when repairing it. It takes place in several stages:

  1. Using a 3 mm drill, drill out the 2 upper rivets and remove the upper part that is attached to the tube;
  2. After removing this part we see 2 more rivets that hold the ring;
  3. Carefully remove the ring from the grooves, then you need to remove additional rings and levers.

We repair the device

In the VAZ-2107, the switches are located under the steering wheel of the car. If you suspect a malfunction, the first thing you need to do is find out the reason why this or that function does not work.

Repairing the switch

We remove the steering column switch on the seven. Having removed the first ring, then the headlight, stop and wiper levers, we get to the mechanism by which the turns are automatically turned off. We take it out and here lies the cause of all the troubles: between the reeds there is a spring that breaks off and does not move the reeds in different directions. It is necessary to replace the spring; you can use a regular spring from a ballpoint pen. Next, we begin collecting all the rings and levers in reverse order. After finishing the work, we check how the levers and the turning mechanism work. To do this, we connect the pads and place the terminals on the battery; if all functions work, then we have completed the repair.

Also, the cause of a malfunction of the turn switch may be contamination or oxidation of the contacts. You can clean dirty or oxidized contacts; to do this, you need to slightly bend the “sagging” springs and other accessible parts. As a rule, after carrying out such cleaning manipulations, it is possible to restore the functionality of the switch.

Installation and repair of wipers on a VAZ 2107

A windshield wiper, or in common parlance, properly functioning “windshield wipers”, is a very important part of ensuring road safety. If the wipers malfunction, you will not pass the technical inspection, and operation of the vehicle is prohibited.

Everyone needs to know how to replace, adjust or repair this device.

Schematic diagram of a glass cleaner on a VAZ 2107

  • fuse;
  • wiper motor;
  • windshield washer motor;
  • relay and fuse box;
  • washer switch (water supply to glass);
  • three-lever cleaning speed switch;
  • VAZ 2107 cleaner relay. Type RS-514. Its mounting location is under the dashboard on the left, attached directly to the body; egnition lock;

The standard wipers on the VAZ 2107 operate in intermittent and continuous modes. If they do not work at all, then first we do the simplest thing: before starting repairs, we check the fuse and the degree of oxidation of its contacts in the mounting block (location F2 for 10 A). The fuse is shared with the washer pump motor. So if the fuse is at fault, then water will not splash on the glass

When changing a fuse, pay attention to the size and color.

If the wipers do not work in rare rain mode, then most likely the relay in the mounting block or the steering column switch itself is to blame. The diagram shows that if there is power on the wire suitable for the relay and the control light is on, or the ammeter deflects the arrow, then the relay is at fault, adjustment will not help, replacement is needed. If there is no current, then there is an open circuit in the steering wheel, and the switch is to blame.

Why did the wipers stop not at the base of the windshield, but “just anywhere”? The gearbox is to blame for this. What should we do with it?

Replacing the gearbox is an alternative, since due to its design, adjustment and repair are difficult, and spare parts are not sold; repair and replacement of its parts (although the size allows) is not carried out, with the exception of the gearbox gear.

What are the most common reasons why a gearmotor fails?

In winter, the wipers of the classic and VAZ 2107 often freeze to the glass after work, since it was warm in the cabin. Sometimes the next morning the driver tries, either by accident or because he is too lazy to get out, to “at random” move them from their place using the cleaning lever.

When stationary, the load on the motor sharply increases, since normally the heat generation scheme is compensated by conversion into mechanical energy, and when the shaft is stationary, the motor burns out very quickly. It is then that repairs are required, or rather, replacement of the gearmotor; adjusting it does not make sense.

Let's look at how this is done on a VAZ 2107.

We unscrew the wiper levers with an open-end wrench, size 10 or a socket head, then carefully remove the levers from their seats, having first bent them./

In conclusion, we advise: if you have good knowledge of electrical engineering, the circuit diagram is no secret to you and you read it, are comfortable with a soldering iron, you can take on the wipers of the VAZ 2107. Repairing and adjusting them will not be difficult for you; if not, then actions such as replacing the gearbox and fuse, as well as the relay are quite accessible to you

Malfunctions

If the wipers do not work completely, this may be due to the following reasons:

  1. Blown fuse.
  2. Malfunction of the switch responsible for turning on and selecting the mode.
  3. Inoperative relay.
  4. Poor contact in the electrical circuit.
  5. Faulty windshield wiper motor VAZ 2107.

It is also possible that the wipers on the VAZ 2107 do not work well. This may be due to:

  • increased friction of axles in brackets;
  • electric motor malfunction.

The breakdowns listed are the most common. Fixing them doesn’t take much time if you know in advance where to look for the problem. If it was not possible to immediately determine the fault, why the wipers on the VAZ 2107 do not work, then it is better to check each element of the system in turn until the fault is found.

Troubleshooting common problems

Basically, all cases related to the repair of windshield wipers are simple and the repair can be done independently, perhaps except for replacing the trapezoid, but this is only due to the inconvenience of the work being performed.

  1. The first thing you need to start with is to check the serviceability of the fuse in the mounting block F2. If it is working, check the presence of voltage on it using a test light or multimeter. Lack of voltage indicates a malfunction of the mounting block.
  2. You can check the incoming voltage to the three-position wiper switch by removing the decorative trims from the steering wheel or on the relay connection block. It should be constantly present on the black and yellow wire; by moving the switch to different positions, we check the voltage on the gray and red wires. The absence of voltage on any of them indicates a malfunction of the switch. The presence of voltage indicates a malfunction of the relay or wiper motor.
  3. When the wipers stop working intermittently, the culprit may be a faulty VAZ 2107 wiper relay. The wiper relay on the VAZ 2107 is located near the trunk opening handle, under the panel. First of all, you need to check the presence of power on the block; to do this, remove the relay and activate the intermittent mode. The absence of this indicates a malfunction of the three-position switch or an open circuit. If the problem persists when applying voltage, then it is worth purchasing a new relay.
  4. When the wipers stop in the middle of the glass, the problem must be looked for in the drive gearbox. This type of malfunction most often occurs in the cold season, when a car owner tries to turn on windshield wipers that are frozen to the glass. The repair consists of installing a new gearbox.
  5. If the wiper motor does not work when power is applied, then you need to check the brushes and windings for failure or wear.

Why don't the wipers work on the VAZ 2107?

22

Absolutely any device in any car ages and loses its functionality over time. The wipers of the VAZ 2107 are no exception. All drivers are looking for the cause of a breakdown or poor performance of their car's wipers, but without understanding how this mechanism works, it is almost impossible to find the reason.

In order to understand why the wipers on the VAZ 2107 do not work, you should know about the system of their operation. The wipers on this car are equipped with two modes: a constant mode in which they operate in a forward-return motion and an intermittent wiper movement.

Main causes of malfunction and ways to eliminate them

Often, the reason for the malfunction of the windshield wiper is absolutely trivial - debris or foreign objects, such as screwdrivers, keys, bolts and other equipment, which Zhiguli owners love to store in a niche in the engine compartment, have gotten under the rods coming from the electric motor. Carefully feel the area near the wiper motor and remove any excess. If you find an object that interferes with the movement of the rods and remove it, but the wipers still do not start working, then the motor winding may have been damaged due to the resulting load.

There are times when the wipers stop working in both cases. Then the driver should independently check the fuse, which is located in the mounting block . It protects the circuit from overloads and can burn out at one point. If the fuse is OK, check to see if the contacts on which the fuse is installed have oxidized. If you see oxidized contacts, simply remove the fuse several times and install it back.

Well, if the windshield wipers do not want to work exclusively in intermittent mode, you should check the relay. The relay causes the wipers to work in this mode by opening the contacts in the electrical circuit. But before you check it, see if voltage is supplied to it. In order to see the voltage supply, disconnect the block and set the switch lever to “intermittent mode”. Next, use a test lamp to check whether there is voltage on the supply wire. If there is still voltage, then completely replace the relay with a working one, but if not, then the cause of the breakdown must be looked for in the switch. In winter, there are also situations when the wipers are frozen tightly to the windshield and this completely limits their movement. Before you turn them on, you should know that if the protection in the relay, designed to cut off the power to the electric motor, does not work, the consequence will be the cutting of the gear teeth in the gearbox.

If you have set the wiper control lever to the "off" position and noticed that the windshield wiper blades do not stop in the right place, i.e. at the bottom of the glass, but in any arbitrary place, in which case the problem is in the gearbox. Look for the fault there, since a special limit switch is installed there; it is activated by a hammer or cam. The switch ensures that after the brushes are turned off, they remain in the desired position. When you do not hear the noise of the electric motor in operation while you turn on the wipers, but you are absolutely sure that the fuse and contacts in the blocks are in order, then most likely you need to remove the electric motor. Completely disassemble it and carefully check the condition of the armature winding and brushes. But if you are not familiar with the basic principles of electrical engineering, then it is unlikely that you will be able to find and fix windshield wiper faults yourself. But even without this knowledge, you can replace the relay if necessary or check the accuracy of the fuse.

Other causes of malfunction

If there are many other reasons why the wipers on the VAZ 2107 do not work, which are difficult to find and fix on your own without special knowledge. For example, if the purifier does not stop in intermittent mode, there are several reasons to consider.

  1. The contacts of the special breaker in the relay are clogged. To do this, you need to clean the contacts or change the relay altogether.
  2. The switch contacts in the gearmotor are dirty. You just need to clean the contacts.
  3. The breaker winding in the relay could have burned out. Change the wiper relay.

And in the case when, working in intermittent mode, the wiper blades do not stop in their original position, there is only one reason. The switch contacts in the gearmotor are not completely in contact or have completely oxidized. Then you need to adjust the limit switch plate or restore the contacts to their original form. If the gear motor of the VAZ cleaner is in perfect order, but the brushes still do not move, then the gear teeth may be cut and broken. It should be replaced. Otherwise, the crank could have been weakly strengthened on the gear axis. Then install the gear nut in its original position. If you find yourself in a situation where the electric motor has refused to work and the bimetallic fuse does not work, but everything is in order in the fuse block, it is also worth considering several situations:

  1. A wire broke in the armature winding. The anchor needs to be replaced.
  2. The wires between their block and the electric motor brushes broke. The wires should be soldered.
  3. The wiper switch is damaged. Replace it.

It is very important to know why the wipers on the VAZ 2107 do not work, because smoothly working wipers are a very important point that helps protect you and your loved ones during trips. It is also prohibited to drive a car with faulty wipers, so you will not be able to pass inspection with this problem.

Removing the windshield wiper motor

To repair the windshield wiper motor, it must be removed. To perform this operation, you will need a 10 and 22 open-end or socket wrench. All actions are performed in the following algorithm:

  • unscrew the wiper fastening nuts using a 10mm wrench;

  • windshield wipers are dismantled;
  • unscrew the fastenings of the wiper brackets with a 22mm wrench and remove the plastic inserts;
  • rubber seals are removed from the engine compartment;
  • the power terminals are disconnected;
  • wires are removed from the holes in the body;
  • the casing on the motor unfolds;

  • unscrew the fastening nuts using a 10mm wrench;
  • the gearbox is removed together with the brackets;
  • the trapezoid fastening nuts are unscrewed;
  • The windshield wiper motor is removed.

Upon completion of the windshield wiper repair, all procedures are performed in reverse order.

Repair of electric wiper motor

As mentioned above, difficult operation of the purifier may be caused by a malfunction of the engine. This is usually due to the fact that the lubricant in the bushings accumulates friction products over time and becomes very thick. The engine rotor begins to spin with difficulty, which leads to burnout of the winding or burnout of the commutator lamellas.

Secondly, when the wipers do not work completely when there is voltage, this is wear on the electric motor brushes. In some cases, with a slight blow to the engine, it began to work.

Below watch a video on replacing the wiper motor:

In cases where the windshield washer does not work, the motor is usually faulty. To check it, measure the voltage on the “+” yellow-black wire, if not, check fuse F2. If there is voltage, then use a piece of wire to connect the “-” black and white wire to the car body. The engine must spin, otherwise it is faulty.

There is nothing difficult in eliminating the described breakdowns. The necessary operations can be performed by any car enthusiast who knows a little about the design.

What to do if the wipers on a VAZ-2107 do not work

Not a single car can do without windshield wipers, and the name speaks for itself, because its task is to clean the windshield of the car. If there is snow, rain, or the glass is dirty for one reason or another, it is the wipers who come to the rescue, otherwise the trip will be impossible or very difficult. In this regard, many people ask the question: is it possible to independently understand the cause of the breakdown, change or repair the wipers? And the answer is yes, you can. This is exactly what our article is about today.
