Car engines The Lada Vesta chassis was developed specifically for the road conditions of the Russian Federation.
The chassis of the Renault Logan 2 was only partially adjusted to domestic roads, by strengthening the spring part and installing a stabilizer. The French car, which has lower ground clearance, does not have the cross-country ability of its competitor. Movement becomes significantly more difficult on rough terrain and snow-covered areas. Fuel consumption in the city and on the highway is quite high (9.8 / 7.5).
The designers of the Lada Vesta installed three different types of internal combustion engines under the hood of their brainchild: 106 hp/1.6; 110/1.6 and 122/1.8l. The engines are equipped with a domestic robotic gearbox, and also operate on a French “mechanics”. In the future, they plan to create a completely domestic manual transmission and a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Vehicle platforms
These two cars are leaders in their class, but Vesta still outperforms Logan on the platform. Due to its dimensions, the Lada Vesta belongs to the B plus platform and, indeed, in many respects, it is several centimeters larger than its competitors. Logan belongs to category B and is less than Vesta.
A platform was specially developed for the Lada Vesta. The car is perfectly tuned to the climatic conditions of Russia. Well, the restyled Logan 2, unlike the first generation, is equipped with new parts and settings - it has been completely reconfigured.

If the leader is obvious from the exterior, then when looking at the interior, it is difficult to identify a clear favorite. Reviews in 2021 are full of opinions that the quality of the upholstery and the level of design ideas are approximately equal in these cars.
- The front seats and rear spaciousness of the Lada Vesta allow the Russian car to win in terms of space. The French competitor is ahead of the VAZ model only in the height above the heads of passengers in the back row. The front seats on Vesta have large adjustment options.

After the update, Logan looks very good, but, nevertheless, its exterior is seriously inferior to Lada. At the same time, the Frenchman never got rid of the signs of a budget car:
- small rear signals;
- a small hatch covering the neck of the tank with a recess for a finger;
- boring looking door handles;
- inexpressive profile, etc.
All this does not hint at modesty, but simply cries out for it. At the same time, the front and rear look quite presentable.
Vesta has a richer exterior. Its appearance is moderately aggressive - the body lines are good, emphasized by the side stampings and faceted stops. The front end is replete with chrome parts, and the headlight design is simply impeccable. The favorable impression is enhanced by high-quality discs. Thus, Vesta can hardly be called unmemorable.
Who has a better chassis? Logan or Vesta
And again, it’s difficult to compare here - Logan and Vesta have almost the same suspension design. Simple MacPherson strut at the front and torsion beam at the rear. But there are significant differences in the suspension setup itself. In this regard, I would like to immediately praise AvtoVAZ - the suspension of the Lada Vesta turned out to be very stiff and energy-intensive, which had a positive effect on handling and driving on uneven roads. Even the high ground clearance did not worsen the car's handling. Although many bloggers said that the car’s suspension was a bit harsh. Personally, I don't think so.
Logan lacks chassis tuning. In general, it drives well, absorbs bumps well, but does not have the desired steering clarity. But the second Logan did not lose its legendary indestructibility of the suspension. Remember why taxi drivers fell in love with these cars?
And here we have a reasonable question. Who to give preference to? Indestructibility or excellent taxiing? Let's give both cars a draw.
Platform
The new platform of the Lada Vesta is its main advantage, since it was developed specifically for Russian roads and adapted to specific climatic conditions.
Renault was only partially adapted to our roads by installing reinforced springs and a stabilizer. Therefore, the Frenchman is inferior to Vesta in cross-country ability and reliability. The Lada has greater ground clearance, which protects the underbody from various obstacles that are often found on Russian roads, and this also gives an advantage when driving on snow-covered roads.

The most important indicators of choice today remain reliability and safety, but clearly not prestige. The domestic representative looks exactly like a French car from the outside. However, for quite a long time, every Russian buyer had a version that if the car is domestic, then it will definitely have a lot of shortcomings. Perhaps this version makes sense, but not in this case. Vesta looks, even in comparison with some foreign analogues, more than worthy.

If with engines and gearboxes you can definitely say where the favorite is, then in terms of the interiors of both cars, almost everything is the same. The finishing materials are similar, the plastic is equally hard everywhere. However, Vesta’s interior looks more solid and newer. Interior
Compared to the interior of the previous generation Logan, there is a huge step forward. Now the car is not just functional, but also attractive, which is no less important. A new dashboard with chrome dial edges, a different center console, an updated steering wheel and other elements have made Renault noticeably more attractive. There is not enough space for three in the back, but, having squeezed in, three will leave. The back of the sofa, finally, does not fold in one piece, but in a 60/40 ratio. And the finishing materials are better. The seats have become more comfortable, but the fit is still not ideal.
Renault's new interior is far better than the previous one.
In Vesta, the interior is definitely more attractive. The dashboard, center console, finishing materials - all this looks richer and more solid. And the design itself is noticeably more interesting. In addition, the Lada is noticeably more spacious, especially in the back row. It’s not for nothing that the car’s dimensions are at the junction of classes B and C. There are no problems with ergonomics either - everything is at hand, the gearshift lever does not block anything, and the air deflector blinds look definitely more attractive than Logan’s nozzles.
And still Vesta is better - more elegant, more beautiful and more spacious!

Of course, the second Logan is far ahead of the first version in terms of external design. The restyling turned out to be excellent: new headlights, grille, quality material on the front and rear seats. After its release, Logan 2 received a huge number of reviews, both positive and negative. But still I liked the model.

And it seems that Vesta has good indicators, but they are not all better than Logan. Yes, Vesta’s top-end 1.8L engine runs better with a manual. But look at Logan’s “vegetable” 8-valve engine, which drives better than the 1.6L in Vesta’s robot? Although this is a victory for Vesta, alas, it is not a dry victory.

Both Vesta and Logan, which has been on the market for about ten years, have a number of advantages over most modern cars, which puts them in the position of leaders in the Russian market. If in the case of the Lada Vesta, sales immediately jumped to unprecedented levels, making this car the de facto leader in its segment, then Renault Logan has long continued to strengthen its position, consistently being one of the best-selling foreign cars in our country.

For the Lada Vesta, a whole line of power units is available, including options with a capacity of 87, 102, 114 and even 128 horsepower, which promise to appear on sale soon. The French sedan offers only two options, with a capacity of 82 and 102 horsepower. Due to the Frenchman’s narrow range, the Russian woman wins again in the duel between Renault Logan and Lada Vesta.

The appearance of Vesta is made in an aggressive manner, somewhat similar to the Ford Fiesta. The front end sets the rhythm, primarily due to the narrow rectangular headlights and the radiator grille, which forms the letter X in tandem with the air intake. These elements are finished in chrome, which gives more modern style.
Turning our gaze to the profile, we see the appearance of unique stamped body parts, which are located in the area of the front and rear fenders and slightly fill the doors. In combination, the front and rear stampings also form an X. The rear part of Vesta is distinguished by stylish ergonomic headlights. New development: the use of large 4 letters LADA as a nameplate. All these features combined with stylish wheels create a bright, memorable design.
Logan cannot fully answer the Lada in this aspect, despite the fact that after restyling the French car acquired an updated, fresh exterior. The front of the “Frenchman” has been transformed, acquiring massive rounded shapes, but the side has retained restraint and modesty, which immediately declares the car’s budget. Recesses for the door handles also cheapen the Logan's appearance a bit. The trunk is original and nice, and significant improvements are also noticeable.
Logan's exterior clearly does not match the appearance of the Lada Vesta.
Options and prices
If you compare the basic versions, Logan is only 900 rubles cheaper, but for this money you will get a very poor equipment of the car, and even with an 8-valve engine. Such configurations are usually purchased by people with a very limited budget or by organizations for company cars - taxis, delivery services, private security companies, etc. Vesta, for the money, will be noticeably better equipped.
Vesta fully equipped will cost the buyer 809,400 rubles, and Renault Logan - 812,990 rubles. Here Logan turns out to be a little more expensive, but not significantly - only 3590 rubles. On the scale of buying a car, this is a very insignificant amount.

If we talk about the service life, it depends on the owner of the car; there was one example that traveled 400,000 km without major repairs. There were some that went 50,000 and then needed major repairs, so it all depends on the driver.

The Lada Vesta is still more beautiful, despite the fact that it cannot be said that the Renault Logan is deprived of beauty. At the end of the generational change, its extremely uninteresting interior became a thing of the past, giving way to an attractive and stylish design. The dashboard is small and neat, and the deep black color of the plastic harmoniously combines with aluminum-look inserts and chrome trim on the dashboard.
And shiny stripes near the air deflectors, the center console and in other places dilute the blackness.
The seats of the new Logan are noticeably more ergonomic than those of its predecessor, which is especially noticeable in terms of lateral support and high-quality padding. The combination of devices is simple and uncomplicated, but guarantees good readability, and the multimedia system will delight you with prompt response and high-quality sound to commands. There is enough space behind, despite the fact that it will be cramped for three people in the open.
Lada Vesta
The quality level of the Lada Vesta interior is not inferior to the French one, but due to the more lively and exciting design it looks better. The impressive dashboard, with its deep wells, immediately sets the mood for drive, the multi-function steering wheel is very ergonomic, the dashboard floating towards the riders creates a feeling of massiveness, the landing is ergonomic, and the ergonomics are in perfect order. There is plenty of space behind, but the piled-up roof will make it difficult for tall passengers to fit comfortably.
The cargo compartment of both models is respectable - the Lada Vesta has 480 liters of the required amount, and the Renault Logan has 510 liters!
But Logan has a huge advantage in price. Minimum price 419,000 rub. versus RUB 514,000 - this is a huge difference for segment B. It goes without saying that after the release of Vesta with an 87-horsepower engine, its price will be reduced, but obviously not to Logan’s level. But Renault’s equipment is also much poorer - the base does not have electronic safety systems, steering wheel adjustments, power is only an extra charge, etc. Prices in the top assumptions are 674,000 rubles. for Renault Logan and 658,000 rubles. for Lada Vesta. But this price tag is not final, since there are no Russian cars with a 114-horsepower power unit on sale yet.

Renault Logan pros and cons
This car was developed specifically for a wide range of people who want to buy a car. Most buyers want to see in a car, first of all, reliability, practicality and efficiency. The latest version of Renault Logan has all these parameters. Some advantages of the model are noted:
- ground clearance allows the car to easily overcome small obstacles: uneven roads, small curbs and holes;
- Logan's bottom is reinforced and protects brake lines well;
- reinforced suspension;
- an 8-valve engine can run on lower quality fuel;
- the car is maneuverable and has good maneuverability;
- simplicity of design, thanks to which the machine can easily be repaired independently;
- spare parts are easy to find;
- excellent optics;
- good cruise and climate control;
- high seating;
- adapted to the Russian climate and is not afraid of frost, the cabin is not cold in winter.
The disadvantages of a French car are:
- airbags in a single quantity;
- no force limiters;
- seat belts without pretensioners;
- accelerates slowly, and the first 4 gears of the box are short;
- weak audio system;
- The car has a problem with reverse gear - it doesn’t turn on well;
- sound insulation leaves much to be desired, especially at an increased speed of 100 km/h;
- arches in the trunk interfere with the convenient location of the cargo;
- the stove operation is noisy after the 4th division;
- The front mudguards are too narrow and dirt gets onto the car doors in bad weather.

Dimensions and Exterior
Lada Vesta was initially positioned by AvtoVAZ as one of the future favorites in class B. And the developers kept this promise - the parameters of the Russian sedan leave no chance for the “Frenchman”. Vesta is noticeably longer and wider – 4,410 mm and 1,764 mm versus 4,346 mm and 1,733 mm. But in terms of height, Renault is noticeably superior to its rival - against Vesta’s 1,497 mm, they can set 1,517 mm.
The wheelbase of the rivals is almost the same, except for the meager 1 mm advantage of the Lada Vesta (2,635 mm and 2,634 mm), but the superiority of the Russian car is expressed in the track of the rear and front wheels, which are equal to 1,510 mm, while the track of the front Logan's axle is 1,497 mm, and the rear axle is 1,486 mm.
Appearance is a very subjective category, where individual preferences decide a lot. However, in this regard, it is possible to give primacy to Vesta, also without paying attention to the change of generations of Renault Logan, as a result of which it has turned from an extremely modest “workhorse” into a stylish and beautiful car. Its front end is now crowned with noticeable optics and a huge air intake, on top of which is a proprietary radiator grille. In addition, in profile it seems quite harmonious, which is emphasized by the even roof line. And the stern fits well into the non-specialized outline. Otherwise, there are still some notes of budget in the image, which spoil the feeling.

Lada Vesta looks much more solid. The X-shaped layout of the front end with the narrowed “gaze” of the headlights, under which a massive air intake is shown, looks as if the car is about to begin to bite into the freeway. Similar stylistic stamps in the profile look no less impressive - they emphasize Vesta’s aggression and her desire not to yield to her rivals.
The rear of the Russian sedan resembles those of Korean models, but this does not at all affect its attractiveness.
Comparing the design of Renault Logan and Lada Vesta
Comparing the design of these two cars is not so easy. But we will find something to cling to. Lada Vesta literally breaks the mold with its design, its shapes and X-style. This is definitely a fresh breath of air in automotive design. And you know, the car was to the liking of many buyers. Just look at these shapes, these headlights. Everything looks as balanced and appropriate on this car as possible.
Logan, although he looks more restrained, is authentic in his own way. The design displays a distinctive style and notes of calm. Smooth and elegant lines can be seen literally in everything. This is not to say that the car looks too fresh, but its design cannot be called outdated either. I would say that this car is aimed specifically at an adult audience and this is where it is very difficult to compete with it.
And to be honest, I would give Vesta a 5 for design, and Logan a solid 4.
Body and design
Naturally, you shouldn’t compare Vesta with the first version of Logan. It was a square design 10 years ago. After restyling, Renault was completely transformed, all the qualities it inherited from the first model have not disappeared anywhere, it is still durable and unpretentious. However, its design is more strict, although everything combines well, but Vesta also does not suffer from poor form. When developing Logan, the designers did not rely on design; most likely, it was designed for simple forms - using the machine for work.
Vesta stands out because its design lines are thoughtful and also elegant. Logan beats the Vesta by only 2 centimeters in body height. In terms of length/width, 2180 wins: 4410 versus 4345 millimeters.
To sum up the design, let's say: due to its simplicity, Logan loses to the news.
