Far from spoiled car owners of the domestic automobile industry will soon receive the next new product. Following the Vesta sedan, it is planned to release Vesta Cross, and even further - Vesta in a hatchback body.

I always liked the hatchback body, and history perfectly confirms this. Nines, 2114, Priors, Grants Liftback - all the creations of AvtoVAZ were in great demand, unlike Europe: a station wagon body was always welcomed and welcomed there.

The AvtoVAZ development program indicates that, following the sedan, it is planned to launch a Hatchback body in 2016 (it is possible that it will be a liftback). But, unfortunately, at the moment there is no specific news, all that is known is that first of all AvtoVAZ is preparing to release the Lada Vesta Cross, sales of which will start at the end of autumn 2016.

↑ Technical characteristics

The Lada Vesta hatchback will be built on the same latest Lada B platform as the sedan, so in many ways the characteristics of these cars will be similar. If we talk about overall dimensions, the only difference from the four-door modification will be the length, which will be 441 centimeters, that is, 16 centimeters less. The remaining parameters are the same (in centimeters): wheelbase - 263.5, car width - 176.4, height - 149.7, ground clearance - 17.8.

Slightly reduced dimensions should lead to a certain reduction in the weight of the vehicle and have a positive effect on its dynamic characteristics. At the same time, the internal dimensions and trunk volume of the Lada Vesta hatchback will not change and will remain approximately at the same level. The capacity of the cargo compartment will be about 400-450 liters.

It was originally planned to use a 1.6-liter eight-valve 86-horsepower engine as the base power unit. However, it was later abandoned, since such power is not enough for a fairly large Vesta hatchback. Probably, the five-door modification will receive the same range of sixteen-valve engines as the sedan. Thus, the main power unit will be a 106-horsepower 1.6-liter engine, and for those who want more dynamics, a 122-horsepower 1.8-liter version is provided.

The manufacturer provides two different types of transmission: a traditional five-speed manual type, borrowed from Renault, and a more advanced automated manual transmission (AMT) developed by AvtoVAZ.

The suspension of this model will have unified components with the Renault Megan suspension, and the steering mechanism will be a complete analogue of that installed on the French car.

Important! Despite the fact that the new Lada Vesta hatchback is called by management the fruit of the work of exclusively domestic specialists, the creation of the car was not without the use of the developments of engineers from the Renault-Nissan concern. This fact is not surprising, given that the French-Japanese concern owns a controlling stake in AvtoVAZ.

Dimensions, interior and exterior

Having seen a photo of a Lada Vesta hatchback without explanation of which manufacturer this car should be attributed to, any experienced car enthusiast will easily and without much thought say that this is AvtoVAZ. The breed can be seen in everything, despite the fact that visually the car turned out to be much more profitable and attractive. Its style is somehow subtly reminiscent of both new Volkswagens and Hyundai cars from three years ago.

At the same time, the car turned out to be significantly larger than the previous Grant and Priora models. According to the country's automotive experts, the Lada Vesta hatchback is as close as possible in body size to category C according to the international classification. The width and height of the hatchback body coincide with the same dimensions of the sedan and are 1764 and 1497 mm, respectively. The length of the Lada Vesta hatchback is slightly shorter than that of the sedan body, and is 4250 mm.

Until the release of the hatchback, it is quite difficult to say unambiguously what equipment options the manufacturing company will offer, but there should not be a strong difference with the sedan. There will likely be three different configurations available:

  • Classic - the basic version, which will already have all the necessary equipment, including automatic systems that help the vehicle when driving and increase the level of safety (in particular, ABS, EBD, ESC, HSA, TCS), power windows on the front doors, audio preparation, front seats heated, front airbags, central locking and more;
  • Comfort is a richer package, in which, in addition to the basic equipment, there is an air conditioning system, an audio system with four speakers, a full set of electric windows, electrically adjustable and heated side mirrors, parking sensors on the rear bumper, a heated windshield, an alarm system and an emergency response system in case of ERA-GLONASS accidents;
  • Lux is the top-end configuration of the Vesta hatchback, offering car owners a wide range of options, including air conditioning, a comprehensive multimedia system with a navigator function and a rear view camera, cruise control, a multifunctional steering wheel, light and rain sensors.

Price range

A trunk with a full door attracts many: family people, avid travelers, small entrepreneurs. Demand will force the manufacturer to artificially increase the price. According to approximate calculations, the Lada Vesta hatchback starts at 620 thousand rubles. The maximum range is considered to be 870 thousand rubles. In this situation, many Russians will no longer be so happy about the new product. Sedan with its 584 thousand rubles. looks much more attractive.

Speaking about the hatchback, it is worth taking into account the current situation on the market. AvtoVAZ is experiencing some financial difficulties after the introduction of restrictions by the United States. A lot of things become clearer here when the word “sanctions” is heard.

Just a few years ago, AvtoVAZ boldly took on several projects at the same time, but now this approach is more targeted. If the ruble exchange rate can withstand pressure from the West, then every Russian will receive his own car. What helps the situation is a good line of credit and the possibility of selling old vehicles on still favorable terms.

↑ Release date

The planned release of the Lada Vesta hatchback was announced almost from the moment the project for this sedan model was finally approved. Even more or less specific dates were mentioned: initially it was said that the five-door would appear almost immediately after the four-door modification, then the release date was postponed to the fall of 2021, but then it was decided to put the station wagon model on the conveyor first.

As of 2021, the car has not been put into production, and whether it will be is not completely clear. The fact is that the company's marketers conducted a study and came to the conclusion that the appearance of a hatchback could lead to unwanted internal competition with SW Cross and XRAY. For now, the hatchback project has been shelved and this version will definitely not appear before 2021.

The video briefly summarizes the basic information regarding the upcoming car. It says that work on the hatchback has already started, although its release is planned only in 2021. In addition, it is indicated that already in 2015 the world will see a pilot series of the hatchback, on which the model is planned to be tested, which will happen in December-January.

The video itself shows the workshops of the AvtoVAZ enterprise, where work is in full swing on assembling LADA Vesta bodies. Welded bodies are moving on the conveyor, parts are being pressed, robots are assembling various panels, power units of the future model, which are already assembled with transmissions, are being shipped, while the company’s workers are busy assembling plastic panels.

↑ Exterior

It is extremely difficult to say what the new car will look like until the official presentation. If the model is finally brought to the production line, then there is a possibility that it will appear in a liftback body, which is especially popular among young people. In this way, manufacturers will be able to avoid internal competition with the station wagon, positioning the shortened five-door as a car for a youth audience.

They do not provide a specific representative regarding the exterior of the Lada Vesta hatchback and the photos presented on the Internet. Most of them speak in favor of the fact that the car will be in a liftback body. However, not a single photo has been officially released by the company, and no final conclusions should be drawn until the model goes on sale.

Attention! The interior contains many fake images that allegedly show the new hatchback. However, for the most part they have nothing to do with reality, but are conjectures of the authors of publications, so they should not be taken seriously.

If this model is released, it will definitely be designed in the same style as the rest of the Lada Vesta line, in particular, it will receive an X-shaped radiator grille and characteristic headlights.

Characteristics of Lada Vesta hatchback

The new Lada Vesta hatchback as a whole, according to the available information, will be expected in all plans. If you have previously encountered the published characteristics of a new product, then they correspond to reality.

First, let's draw an analogy with a sedan - there is practically no difference. The only exception for the hatchback will be the length. The trunk receives a full door with glass, which allows you to enter it with greater comfort. From here, the car will change the shape of the trunk by a few centimeters.

Vesta in a hatchback body is quite a promising model for the domestic market, and if AvtoVAZ nevertheless decides to bring it to the assembly line, it will certainly win the hearts of a large number of car enthusiasts.

When will the Vesta Hatchback be released?

It is currently difficult to say anything about the timing of the release and birth of the Lada Vesta in the hatchback body. As a result of the current unfavorable economic situation and the change of management of AvtoVAZ, the dismissal of Boo Anderson, it is difficult to say anything.

There are rumors that there will be no Hatchback body at all, there will only be a Cross. If this is not true information, then the hatchback will be born only after the station wagon (Cross), the release of which, again, is either postponed or postponed.
