I want to share with you my impressions of an unplanned test of the Lada Granta liftback, in a luxury configuration. I'll tell you what I liked and what I didn't like.

Since I own a Granta liftback with an eight-valve engine, this comparison was interesting to me, and I hope it will be useful to you too.

Why unplanned?! Test without video, just with photos taken in the dark. I had to deliver the Snow Maiden and Santa Claus to their addresses, who congratulated the children and, of course, gave gifts. Therefore, the test took place from 17:30 until half past ten in the evening, or night.

Once I got into the cabin, I immediately adjusted the seat and electric mirrors to suit me. I didn't have to touch the steering wheel. In general, I presented everything as in my grant. Convenient of course, luxury, has everything. Engine 106 horsepower, climate control, heated windshield, light sensor. I don’t know if there was a rain monitor there, but I used the wipers and washer myself. Yes, in this configuration the dashboard and dashboard are from Kalina 2. There is also no cruise control.

I immediately noticed the bright light from the interior lamp. There is a button to turn off stabilization, just like the Vesta. Helps with movement quite well.

I really liked the engine, dynamic and quite torquey. Cut-off at 6500 rpm. When starting off, you still have to give a little gas.

The accelerator pedal is quite responsive. There is no such delay as my grant had before chip tuning. It exists, but it is very insignificant. The engine pulls great, you can feel the power reserves. The dynamics are noticeably greater than on my liftback.

Stability is noticeably increased thanks to the dynamic stabilization system. There were no drifts. Although I hit the snow-covered side of the road a couple of times, passing oncoming cars, on a narrow road due to the snow blowing onto it. You could hear the stabilization coming into operation, and the icon on the dashboard was lighting up.

I didn’t like the fact that when lowering or raising the door windows, you can hear the relay under the dashboard clicking quite loudly. I don’t know if this is a feature of the test car, or if it’s like this for everyone. But you don't feel that way on your car. The relay clicks, but much quieter and almost inaudible. Introduces slight discomfort.

I also didn’t like the way the automatic light worked. When it is turned on, the high beam cannot be turned on. Strange. Also, according to my feelings, it seemed that in the automatic light, the lighting itself shines and illuminates much worse than if you simply turn on the low beam.

It's just kind of strange. Maybe a feature, but I didn't like it.

I couldn’t fully understand the on-board computer readings. There are a lot of meanings, but I couldn’t figure out what they show the first time. I think over time the problem would be resolved; in extreme cases, you can read the instruction manual.

It is also worth mentioning the light steering wheel. I asked the Snow Maiden why the steering wheel is so light, to which she replied that you have an electric booster, but here you have a hydraulic one. I’ll also point out the very light clutch pedal. easy to press. When I got into mine, I immediately felt a tight pedal. The force on it has to be at least twice as strong as on the test one. Strange, why is that?!

I didn’t expect good sound from the standard speakers and radio. It is not touch sensitive, it is a regular two-din device with buttons. Four speakers in the doors, without any tweeters. The sound overall is not bad. Doesn't get too dirty at high volumes. There is enough bass for comfortable listening to tracks.

Certainly not for a music lover who prefers higher quality sound. But I, as a person who doesn’t pay much attention to car audio, quite liked it. Although I only listened to the radio. I don’t know what the sound would be like from a flash drive. In general it will do. I don’t know if I would redo it if I had a car for personal use, but the sound is not much worse than in my swallow.

I liked the energy intensity of the suspension. It's better than on my car. 15-inch standard wheels are installed. Probably gas shock absorbers are also installed. The freshness of the test car, with only more than two thousand kilometers, may also have an effect.

In general, I really liked the car, it has foglights, basically everything you need.

And I even began to consider this car in a similar configuration as a timely replacement for the current car. Although I have no plans to change it in the near future. And by that time, what will happen to the automobile market and the production of domestic cars is not at all clear.

That’s probably all my opinion, formed from short use.

What conclusions can be drawn? I prefer to have a car that has almost everything I need. This version has everything. But it’s worth thinking about whether to choose a lower package, where you can choose the car sound that suits you and install fog lights yourself, rather than overpay for something you don’t like or aren’t happy with.

But whether there will be dynamic stabilization in lower trim levels is a question. And I consider its presence to be almost the most necessary thing in a modern car.

Regarding the power units, no significant changes have occurred. The current Grant has the same engines and gearboxes that were available before the restyling. However, I did not notice any significant changes along the way. Comfortable speed threshold is 100 km/h. Yes, you can accelerate faster, even a car with an automatic transmission can confidently speed up to overtake. But enduring the howls of a high-speed engine for a long time is tiring. I won’t say that the Grant’s steering wheel commands began to be executed more accurately.

The front panel is not at all from the pre-restyling Granta, but more austere - from Kalina.

The interior is made without any special frills or expensive materials. However, the build quality is decent. Steering wheel tilt adjustment is available in all trim levels except the basic one, but everywhere there is a steering wheel without a leather braid. Along with climate control, an electric heated windshield is available in the top trim level.

The instrument panel with radial digitized scales and orange rims is one of the most noticeable parts of the updated car.

The manual gearbox lever with a glossy central insert and chrome decor appeared on the Grant for the first time.

The radio has a wireless connection function with a smartphone, a USB connector and a slot for a CD card.

A small box on top of the front panel is a very convenient thing.

The glove box is quite spacious, and even backlit.

The seats have new upholstery and more developed lateral support. In addition, the driver's seat can now be adjusted in height.

Four electric windows are a privilege of the most expensive versions.

The sofa folds in parts, but to perform this operation it is necessary to move the front seat a few centimeters forward.

All engines now have new pistons with recesses for the valves, which avoid fatal damage when the timing belt breaks.
