If you are going to buy winter tires for Lada Vesta , then try to choose narrower tires. These tires will create more pressure on the road surface and improve traction. Remember that wide tires are more sensitive to ruts in winter. And low-profile tires make the ride less comfortable, because... transfer even the smallest holes to the body.

The smaller the unsprung masses

(this includes a lot of tires and wheels), the better the car will hold the road and accelerate faster. For example, if you put wheels on a car that are 2 kg lighter each, then acceleration to 100 km/h will be reduced by 0.2 seconds.

Attention! Installing larger wheels may lead to problems with ABS and ESP calibration (the systems may not work correctly).

Top 8 list of winter tires for the 2015-2016 season for Lada Vesta

This is where you should look for “shoes” for the Lada Vesta. After all, the top of the list is occupied by popular companies, whose products have proven themselves over the years, and innovation and research guarantee the constant introduction of new technologies and improved performance.

The leader in the domestic market is the Finnish concern Nokian Tires, and its tires with retractable studs, introduced in 2014, revolutionized the tire segment.

Nokian Hakkapeliitta 8

These tires have a unique Nokian Eco Stud 8 stud technology. Thanks to a special flange, the studs have a smaller swing amplitude, and the Eco Stud rubber layer has a shock-absorbing effect. Excellent road grip is guaranteed by a new tread mixture with the addition of cryosilane - Hakkapeliitta Cryo-silane Gen 2. Its feature is the use of rapeseed oil, which increases the degree of adhesion of rubber and silica.

The tires are equipped with amplifiers located in the rear sector of the tread blocks, which guarantee high-quality deceleration of the Lada Vesta. And their gear configuration improves performance on snowy roads. Excellent controllability is ensured by 3D lamellas (diagonal), as well as 3D lamellas of a self-locking type on the outside of the shoulder areas.

But the cost of such tires is considerable. Their purchase for Lada Vesta will cost from 4,264 rubles. and will increase depending on the radius of the disks.

Bridgestone Blizzak Spike-01

This is a worthy competitor to the rest. They are distinguished by excellent grip on icy roads thanks to studs made using Cross-Edge Pin technology - a cross-shaped notch is applied in the middle of the stud. The problem of losing studs for owners of Bridgestone Blizzak Spike-01 is irrelevant, since the specially shaped hole reliably fixes the metal studs.

Bridgestone Blizzak Spike-01 is an excellent choice for Lada Vesta.

On snowy roads, handling is excellent thanks to the self-cleaning sipes that remove ice chips from the stud. Snow is captured with maximum efficiency, since the cross grooves are equipped with intersections (widened), and in deep snow, shoulder lugs are relevant.

The cost of such tires starts from 3,169 rubles. and higher.

Yokohama Ice Guard F700Z

These tires are designed specifically for harsh winters, so purchasing them for the Lada Vesta will be an excellent choice.

They guarantee excellent grip, since the tread has a two-layer structure. Its bottom layer is hard and firmly holds the stud, while the top layer is softer, designed specifically for driving on icy roads. The tire's contact patch is increased, which provides high-quality grip in snow, ice and slush. In addition, innovative Yokohama IceGUARD F700Z technology with water-absorbing properties is used. Its purpose is to remove and absorb moisture, so that the protector comes into contact with dry ice.

Yokohama Ice Guard F700Z - in the mid-price category, this is an excellent choice for the Lada Vesta.

These tires are not the most expensive and will be an excellent purchase for the Lada Vesta - from 2,147 rubles.

Dunlop Ice Touch

In winter, Lada Vesta owners will have to drive on slushy snow, icy roads and dense snow. So the Dunlop Ice Touch tires, designed for just that, are a good buy.

The contact patch is quite large due to the wide central rib, and the polymers in the rubber compound guarantee elasticity, which affects grip and traction. Dunlop Ice Touch has a directional tread pattern and is equipped with wide grooves (drainage). The location of the studs is chaotic, the lamellas are at different angles, and the edges are quite sharp, which has a positive effect on the braking dynamics. On dry roads, these tires have reduced rolling resistance, and handling is ensured by the rigidity of the tread.

Dunlop Ice Touch - with them you don’t have to be afraid of ice and snow on the Lada Vesta.

Michelin X-Ice North 3

This is the third generation of popular tires and they combine the latest achievements of the company. In particular, this is the MICHELIN Smart Stud System - it involves a combination of conical studs with a ThermoActive Tread Compound rubber compound (with thermoactive properties), as well as Ice Powder Remover technology (removal of ice chips).

Michelin X-Ice North 3 - expensive, but high-quality tires for Lada Vesta.

Such tires perform well on icy and snowy roads. The braking distance is reduced by 10%, and the tires also have reinforced sidewalls and optimal stud retention strength.

But the prices for Michelin X-Ice North 3 are corresponding – from 3,449 rubles.

Hankook Winter I*Cept evo W310

These are tires that combine excellent performance characteristics with significantly reduced background noise. So for lovers of silence in the Lada Vesta, they will be an excellent option, because computer modeling of the tread was used during development.

The absence of spikes in the Hankook Winter I*Cept evo W310 guarantees reduced noise in the Lada Vesta.

Good handling is achieved due to the asymmetrical tread pattern and proper sipes, which is important on snowy roads. Thermoelastic rubber contains a high percentage of silica - this increases safety.

You can buy such tires for Lada Vesta at a price starting from RUB 3,316.

Kama Euro 519

These are tires from the budget segment for those who cannot equip their Lada Vesta with expensive imported tires.

However, the tire performance is decent, which is achieved through fan-shaped sipes and grooves (V-shaped). This ensures a self-cleaning process. The fixation of the studs is durable due to the dense bottom layer, and the high percentage of natural rubber allows the top layer to remain quite soft. And the noise is reduced through the optimal placement of the studs.

Kama Euro 519 is a good and inexpensive domestic tire for the Lada Vesta.

The price for these tires is affordable - from 1,716 rubles.

Belshina Bel-127

This is also an inexpensive option for the Lada Vesta. The advantages of the tires include projector blocks with wavy lamellas (quite voluminous), which is important when driving on a thick layer of snow and ice crust. The tread is made in the direction of travel, optimizing cross-country ability and safety.

Belshina Bel-127 is a competitor for KAMA on the Lada Vesta.

The central axis of rigidity guarantees stability, and the developed adhesive drainage system implies the presence of gutters (centrifugal type) to remove a mixture of water, ice, etc. from under the tread pattern.

The price of Belshina Bel-127 is almost no different from that of KAMA - from 1,873 rubles.

As you can see, the choice is huge. Famous brands provide maximum efficiency of their products, but they also have an appropriate price. If it is not possible to purchase foreign tires, then domestic ones will also suit the sedan, and their lower price does not at all indicate poor quality.

This story will help you consider the issue of choosing winter tires in more detail:

Choose from different brands

In first place in popularity are manufacturers who have proven themselves in recent years. Their developments and tests periodically improve the technology of manufacturing tires for cars.

Nokian Hakkapeliitta 8

Features of Nokian Hakapelita tires:

  1. Studded in a special way.
  2. A flange of a special design is used, the spikes swing less.
  3. Has a shock absorber effect.
  4. Good grip on the road surface is ensured by a special composition of the tread material.

A special feature of the Nokian Hakkapeliitta-8 tire material is the use of rapeseed oil, which increases the adhesion properties of silicone and rubber.

Nokian Hakapelita-8 tires are equipped with reinforcements located on the back of the tread blocks. They provide high-quality braking on the road. Their serrated shape improves traction on slippery roads. The vehicle's handling is guaranteed by 3D diagonal lamellas.

Such tires are expensive; their price for a Lada Vesta will be at least 5,000 rubles, depending on the size of the rims.

Bridgestone Blizzak Spike 01

Bridgestone is highly competitive with other types of tires. Its tires provide good grip on icy surfaces.

The studs on Bridgestone Blizzak Spike tires are made using a special technology; a cross-shaped notch is made in the center of the stud.

The fastening of the studs in the Bridgestone Blizzak Spike tire is secure enough so that they do not fly out. The special shape of the hole securely holds the spikes.

To know which tires to choose for the Lada Vesta, analyze your trips. If you often drive on snowy roads in winter, then the Bridgestone Blizzak will be the best. The tires provide good vehicle control thanks to special sipes. They are made in such a way that they are self-cleaning and remove ice chips.

Grip with snow occurs with the greatest effect. The cross-shaped grooves on the studs have widened intersections. Shoulder protectors work well in deep snow. The cost of the Blizzak Spike is lower compared to the Nokian Hakapelita. For Lada Vesta, such tires cost an average of 3,500 rubles.

Yokohama Ice Guard F700Z

These “shoes” for cars are designed for use in harsh conditions. Therefore, winter tires for the Lada Vesta of the Yokohama Ice Guard brand will fit perfectly.

The tires provide high-quality traction: the lugs have a two-layer design. The bottom layer has high hardness and securely fixes the tenon. The top layer is softer and is made for driving on icy surfaces.

The contact patch with the road has an increased area, which creates reliable traction when driving on slush, ice and snow.

Yokohama Ice Guard uses a special technology to absorb and remove water; the protector comes into contact with dry ice.

You can buy Yokohama tires for a Lada Vesta even cheaper - on average for 2,500 rubles.

Dunlop Ice Touch

In winter, drivers drive through dense snow, ice, and slush. Therefore, Dunlop winter tires designed for such surfaces will be the best. Winter wheels for Vesta (standard or Cross) of this brand provide an increased contact patch with a wide middle rib.

Polymer materials make it elastic, which improves traction and grip.

Dunlop Ice Touch rubber has a directional lug pattern and wide grooves for draining water and snow.

On dry surfaces, these tires have reduced rolling resistance. A rigid projector allows you to create good car handling.

You can buy a Dunlop within 3,000 rubles, but it pays for itself.

Michelin X-Ice North 3

The Michelin winter tire brand includes the latest developments.

Michelin X-Ice North 3 tires use a system of conical studs and a thermoactive rubber compound to evacuate crushed ice.

Before choosing, remember what roads you drive on. Michelin X Ice Nord 3 performs well on snowy and icy roads. The braking distance is reduced by 10%. Winter tires on the Lada Vesta Cross of the Michelin X Ice brand are equipped with reinforced sidewalls and strong fixation of the studs.

You can buy and install Michelin winter tires for no less than 3,500 rubles, which is justified by its quality.

Hankook Winter I Cept Evo W310

High performance parameters are combined with low noise. For those who love comfort and silence, Hankuk Winter winter tires will be the best. Engineers carried out the design of the structure using computer modeling of lugs.

Hankook Winter tires have handling characteristics provided by an asymmetrical tread and correct sipe design. The rubber composition has increased the silicone content to improve traffic safety.

You can buy Hankuk tires for no more than Michelin X Ice.

Kama Euro 519

If you are not rich enough to buy expensive winter tires for Vesta, then Kama Euro will help you out. It belongs to the budget category, but has decent characteristics for winter. This is ensured by V-shaped grooves and fan-shaped slats for self-cleaning.

The bottom layer of Kama Euro-519 tires is dense and securely fastens the studs. The high rubber content softens the top layer.

The wheel studs are made optimally, which reduces noise while driving. The cost of the Kama Euro for winter is small, around 2,000 rubles.

Belshina Bel 127

It is also inexpensive. It has wavy lamellas, which performed well when driving the car on ice and snow. The lugs are located in the direction of travel, improving safety and maneuverability.

The rigidity of the Belshina Bel-127 tire ensures the stability of the car, and the drainage system removes ice chips and water.

Belshina Bel 127 is almost identical in price to the cost of Kama tires - on average 1800-2000 rubles.

How to choose tires

I decided on some parameters in advance - I definitely decided that I would buy studded tires. I live in a small town where the roads are not always cleaned; sometimes I go out of town. If you live in a region where there is a real Russian winter, then there is no alternative to thorns.

Velcro performs much worse on ice than studded tires. Of course, it is quieter and more comfortable, but if you make a choice between comfort and safety, then the second is more important.

I decided exactly what brand of tires I would buy. The last car had Michelin X Ice North 2.

I've driven it 65 thousand km in 7 years and it still looks fine. Over time it has lost its properties, but most of the thorns have been preserved. The tires are comfortable and performed well on slippery roads and asphalt.

I also decided to put Michelin on the Lada Vesta; last year a new modification, X Ice North 4, was released.

I read a lot of reviews, feedback, comments. This is one of the best tires available today. You shouldn't skimp on tires. If you compare the braking distance at 100 km per hour on good tires and cheap ones, the difference is 30-40 meters.

Of course, tires cannot provide a guarantee, and you can fly off the track with any tires. But high-quality wheels will help you avoid an accident, and the chance of this is much higher.

Often people do not have enough money, they buy the tires they earned. Something else is not clear - cheap tires on alloy wheels. It is better to buy high-quality rubber, but stamped ones. Beauty and tuning are good, but safety is more important.

Choosing winter wheels for Lada Vesta SW Cross: comparing sizes and prices

What is the problem

The main reason for the agony of choice is the high cost of tires in their native size 205/50 R17: this is evidenced by reviews of the Lada Vesta SW Cross. Let's take, for example, the Finnish new Nokian Hakkapeliitta 9. In the factory standard size, one “cylinder” costs about 11,000 rubles. The average price of the same spike in size R15 is 5,500 rubles. Double savings.

To summarize, the cost of a set of 17-gauge tires is similar to the price tag for four 15-gauge tires already shod on alloy wheels. The configuration of the car allows for replacement - after all, the original spare wheel is made within the dimensions of 185/65 R15, and in reviews of the Lada Vesta SV Cross there is photographic evidence that the 15th disc does not touch the front brake calipers.

The gain in the initial price is complemented by another plus: the second set of wheels allows you not to go to the tire shop every season. Changing the shoes twice and balancing the 17th wheels will cost 3,000 rubles, which is not cheap. The third aspect is the smoothness of the ride: it is noticeably higher with decreasing rim diameter. With all these positive aspects, R15 tires look great in the arches of the Cross Vesta. Another thing is ground clearance... But here, too, catastrophic losses can be avoided.

Alternative size

When choosing tires of a different size, you can refer to the machine's operating manual. The table shows the recommended values for the standard station wagon version. The same options for winter tire sizes are also relevant for the Vesta SV Cross and the cross sedan:

However, owners of new cars prefer to partially deviate from these recommendations and use products of other sizes. Let's compare the performance data of various tires and enter them into the table.

Difference with standard diameter, mm

For your information. The speedometer is calibrated to a circumference with a diameter of 637 mm. When installing a tire of a different size, it is necessary to introduce an error into the device readings. It will be minimal (0.5%) on 195/65 R15 tires.

Replacing disks

When switching to 15-gauge tires of a non-standard format, you will have to select car wheels using a calculator. However, the light alloy version for the 195/65 R15 tire has long been studied by Vestavod:

  • Bolt pattern – 4x100.
  • Reach – 43-45 mm.
  • Width – 6J.
  • The central hole is 60.1 mm.

The offset of the original 17-wheels is 43 mm. Experts allow fluctuations within 3-5 mm in a negative or positive direction.

For your information. It is permissible to select discs with a larger central hole diameter. Spacers are used to compensate for the difference. As a cheap alternative, you can consider used wheels from Nissan Almera, Renault Logan and Sandero.

Owners of Vesta SV Cross need to make a decision about choosing winter tires of a different size consciously. The instruction manual allows only 205/50 R17 to be used in this version. Installing a different standard size may cause contradictions of the following nature:

  1. Loss of warranty (maybe not - discussed with the official dealer).
  2. Refusal of insurance payments in accordance with current legislation.
  3. Inability to register a vehicle because changes have been made to the design of the vehicle.

Tire markings and designations

Surely not all drivers know what numbers mean what on tires. For example, factory tires on the Lada Vesta are 185/65 R15.

Profile height in % of width. That is, in our case, 65% of 185 mm (about 120). Tire type is radial, designated by the letter “R”. There are also diagonal tires, but now they are more often used for special equipment.

Next, the diameter is indicated, not the radius, as many people mistakenly believe. It's the letter "R" that confuses them. The diameter is written in inches (25.4 mm).

Verdict

Changing your Lada Westa SW Cross to winter tires is not cheap. The total cost of tires and tire fitting is at least 23,000 rubles. For this money, the factory 205/50 R15 wheels will have the Kumho WinterCraft ice Wi31 middle class stud. The alternative is to break the law: then for the same amount you can get good 195/65 R15 tires and alloy wheels.

Uncompromising tires – Nokian Hakkapeliitta 9, R3 and Continental ContiIceContact 2 and ContiVikingContact 6. Significant costs are justified by reasonable behavior on any surface. Among Velcro, the popular choice is Nokian Nordman RS2. The optimal studded tire is Nordman 5, 7.

What winter tires to put on Vesta

Winter tires are sold in stores of various brands. Popular imported models guarantee high efficiency, but their price is high. If you don’t have the money to buy winter tires of expensive brands, then Russian-made products are quite suitable. And low cost does not mean low quality.

After purchasing the car in January, the first question that had to be resolved was what kind of winter tires to install. Vesta SV is standardly equipped with summer wheels size 195/55 r16. At first I wanted to take winter tires of the same size, but when I found out the price for a set of winter tires in the same size, I thought about it and ended up purchasing 195/65 r15 studs and stamped wheels for them. What advantages did I get from this:

1. The price of a set of winter tires 195/65 r15 + stamps for them is equal to the price of a set of tires in size 195/55 r16. Those. the costs are the same, but other things being equal in terms of money, my tires are already on rims. This way I won’t have to switch tires back and forth from the rims every season. And this is an annual saving on tire fitting. You can change your shoes yourself without queuing in the workshops.

2. A higher rubber profile gives more comfort in terms of a smooth ride and all sorts of potholes and irregularities have a less detrimental effect on the car’s suspension.

3. Oddly enough, the car’s ground clearance increased by 7.5 mm and amounted to 185.5 mm versus the standard 178 mm. You can check it on any tire calculator. In winter, clearance is never superfluous.

I added a photo where my chocolate is standing next to the cross-version, and in my opinion, from the outside, the difference in the height of the cars and ground clearance is practically invisible. My car is on the left.
