The official manufacturer AvtoVAZ recommends Lukoil oil for X-Ray, Largus and Vesta cars. In this way he supports a common lubricant manufacturer in Russia. But experienced drivers know that imported oils can also be used. For example, you can fill in Castrol or Shell; Esso and Mobile oils are no less popular.

All common high-quality motor lubricants differ in two characteristics: quality and cost.

Just because an oil is expensive does not mean it is better. On sale you can find inexpensive brands of engine lubricant that are of good quality. The main thing in the choice is compliance of the viscosity and temperature parameters with the factory recommendations.

For the X-RAY car, Lada Largus and Vesta, many types of lubricant can be used, regardless of the engine model. You just need to know the general characteristics of oils in order to use them for different climates.

An important parameter is density. Oil can change characteristics and properties depending on air temperature. Therefore, when operating a VAZ car in different regions of the country, it is necessary to use different brands of motor oil.

The most popular type of oil classification is SAE. For this class, motor lubricants have differences in digital values, which are separated by the symbol “W”.

Note! For better oil drainage, you need to warm up the car. To fully warm up, drive a few kilometers and only then start changing the oil.

Changing the engine oil

After the car has warmed up and all the tools and oil have been prepared, you can begin to change the engine oil. So:

  • First, drain the old oil. For this purpose, we need a 12mm hexagon. They need to unscrew the oil drain plug in the engine oil pan. Place the oil container under the hole and leave for about five minutes so that the oil drains well.
  • In the meantime, while the oil is draining, you can not waste time and replace the oil filter. You can, of course, unscrew it by hand if you have the strength - there are craftsmen like that, but we will consider the option with a puller.

Another filter remover option

Take a pre-prepared oil filter puller and put it on the filter itself. With a sharp movement of the hand, the filter breaks off and can then be freely unscrewed by hand. There are times when the filter is so stuck to the block that it cannot be unscrewed even with a puller. In this case, it is broken through, a knob is inserted and unscrewed in this way. Or you can show your imagination and invent your own method. So:

  • After this, install a new filter and tighten it with the same puller.
  • Next, you need to screw the drain plug back into the pan and start pouring oil.
  • Now you need to unscrew the filler plug, which is located in the cylinder head cover. We adjust the watering can to make it easier to get in and fill in the oil.

  • When adding oil, be sure to check the engine oil level on the dipstick.

Advice! Try to keep the volume of oil filled in the middle between the MIN and MAX marks on the dipstick. If there is not enough oil, the engine parts will be poorly lubricated and will fail faster. And if there is too much oil in the engine, this will create a high load on the engine seals and it will simply be covered in oil.

  • Once the required level is reached, tighten the plug.
  • Start the engine for the first time. Don't be alarmed that it will be a little noisy right away - this is normal. The car needs to pump oil into the system and after a few seconds the noise will subside.
  • A sign of a successful oil change is the absence of leaks in the block and drain plug, as well as a non-lit oil indicator on the instrument panel.

Changing the gearbox oil

When to change gear lubricant

Changing the oil in the rear axle of a VAZ 2107 should be done regularly, but there is no specific threshold. It all depends on many different factors, but the manufacturer of a domestic car recommends performing this procedure every 60 thousand km.

Some of the main factors that influence the timing of oil changes are:

  • Driving character. Frequent and abrupt starts are not at all beneficial to the parts and mechanisms of the car, including the rear axle.
  • Vehicle operating conditions. If the car is used in rural areas where there are poorly paved roads, dust, and dirt, then replacement should be done more often.
  • Lubrication quality. It is recommended to fill the rear axle of the VAZ 2107 with special high-quality oil. If you pour low-quality lubricants into the gearbox, you will need to replace them much more often.
  • Operating a vehicle with a trailer. The wear of the device parts will accelerate if the car is operated with a trailer in which cargo is transported.

Choosing oil for Lada engines

To select the correct engine oil, the plant recommends using a specific brand that corresponds to the design and technical parameters of AvtoVAZ engines.

So that car owners know what brand of oil to use for the engine, the plant has established certain requirements. It is recommended to use motor oil for Zhiguli cars according to the following characteristics:

VAZ 2101-2107

For older models of VAZ cars ranging from the “penny” VAZ-2101 to the VAZ-2107, produced before 2000, it is recommended to fill in standard engine oil:

  1. According to SAE classification: 5W-30/40, 20W-30/40/50, 15W-30/40/50, 10W-30/40.
  2. By API class: SF. These include engines operating in harsh conditions. They use unleaded gasoline as fuel.

The listed oils are also recommended for the Niva VAZ-2121 car. Motor lubricants of this type are produced for VAZ cars based on minerals. They are characterized by anti-corrosion and anti-wear properties.

Such oils are resistant to slag and deposits in the engine. The factory recommends an oil change after 10,000 km. If you operate the car exclusively in the city, then it is advisable to reduce the interval to 7000 km.

New VAZ models

For cars produced in the 2000s, as well as for front-wheel drive VAZ-1111, 2108, 2110 models, “Super” oils are offered:

  1. by viscosity class: 20W-40/40, 15W-40, 10W-30/40, 5W-30;
  2. according to API classification: SG (high-speed gasoline engines operating on unleaded gasoline using oxidants), as well as SJ (modern brands of gasoline engines for which this type of oil replaces previously used lubricants).

Oils of the “Super” category are produced on synthetic and semi-synthetic bases. They are characterized by high temperature stability, increased antioxidant, anti-wear and cooling properties.

The factory recommends replacing it after a mileage of 15,000 km. However, if the car operates in winter or in a dusty climate, then the replacement time is reduced to 10 thousand kilometers.

The AvtoVAZ conveyor is usually filled with semi-synthetic 5W-30 produced by Rosneft. Therefore, it is recommended to fill in this brand of lubricant during the warranty period. In order not to lose your car warranty, you must change your car oil only at an authorized dealer.

Transmission elements

An axle is a chassis design that is mostly found on SUVs. It is a metal case, inside of which a differential, main gear, and axle shafts can be located. Note that the axle can be a drive axle - in this case, torque is transmitted to it from the gearbox or transfer case. There are also split and continuous designs. In the first case we are talking about a dependent, and in the second – an independent type of suspension.

The bridge, equipped with a crankcase, has a special lubricant that protects the moving elements of the transmission. Like other materials of this type, it is not able to perform its functions forever. Over time, its properties are lost, which leads to increased loads on system parts. It is not difficult to guess that this will ultimately lead to disruption of the normal functioning of the node.
