What kind of light bulbs are in the headlights of the VAZ 2114 and other lighting devices?

Types of lighting fixtures

There is an opinion among police officers that every fifth road accident occurs due to the fault of incorrectly selected or faulty lighting devices, so a reasonable question arises: “What are they?”

Standard bulbs VAZ 2114

There are two types of lamps, one of which has subtypes:

xenon – the popularity of “xenon” and “bi-xenon” and other buzzwords, which, in essence, call one type of lamp, appeared for a reason, because this lighting device has a whole bunch of positive aspects against just one drawback. On the negative side, they note that the VAZ 2114 network is designed for halogen lights, and difficulties often arise with the installation of xenon. If you solve this problem, you will get: a double reduction in energy consumption, triple light, gentle load on the generator and engine, and almost ten times the service life in comparison with halogen analogues;

Xenon bulbs VAZ 2114

halogen - are a classic solution, have several advantages over their xenon counterpart, but do not solve the main tasks assigned to lighting devices

Among the advantages, they usually note the ability to configure a passive view of the roadside, which is not essential for new European cars with intelligently customizable headlights, but is still important for the VAZ 2114, and the ability to choose the color of the headlights. They have many more disadvantages than “xenon lights”: high energy consumption, regular maintenance work, excessive heat transfer during operation

Halogen bulb VAZ 2114

What bulbs to put in the headlights of VAZ 2109, 2112, 2114, 2115

Owners of domestic cars in most cases are faced with the problem of a lack of lighting from those bulbs in the headlights that are installed by the manufacturer. Typically, the VAZ company equips its models with Philips + 30% bulbs. These lamps are of fairly high quality and provide a clear demarcation line on the road. But if these properties are not enough for the car owner, then there are many options for replacing headlight paws.

What kind of bulbs should I put in the headlights of a VAZ?

Standard light bulbs for cars of the VAZ 2109, 2112, 2114 and 2115 brands can be with increased luminous flux brightness. For example, Philips +50%, +80%, +100% or OSRAM +50, +90%. The special composition of the gas in the bulb of these lamps makes it possible to achieve greater light brightness and work much more efficiently in comparison with the factory version. The disadvantage of this product is the relatively shorter service life of these lamps.

Install LED lamps for car headlights

Today, LED headlight bulbs have become especially popular among owners of VAZ 2109, 2112, 2114 and 2115. Installing such bulbs in the headlights of your car is very profitable and economical. Despite the fact that the cost of this product is several times higher than the usual standard options, the service life of such lamps is quite long. In addition, they consume much less electricity and are able to work efficiently at maximum air temperatures. If you install the LED light bulb correctly, it will be very resistant to vibrations and shocks. Installing an LED in a car's brake light will allow the driver of a car catching up with you to clearly see your dimensions on the road.

Halogen lamps for VAZ 2109, 2112, 2114 and 2115 cars

The chemical composition of the gas from halogen lamps in headlights allows for excellent light output during operation. Which is directly a big advantage of these lamps. High-quality illumination of a huge span of the road and a long service life make halogen lamps a popular product for car enthusiasts.

Today on sale you can find “halogen” lamps with increased brightness, all-weather models, with increased power and temperature. The secret of the popularity of this kind of lamps also lies in their cost. High quality products and affordable prices are what every car driver needs.

Xenon headlight bulbs

The beauty of the appearance of xenon headlights speaks of the prestige of the car and the good taste of its owner. But, besides the fact that xenon looks expensive, it also has a number of undeniable advantages over other models. Xenon bulbs for VAZ 2109, 2112, 2114 and 2115 provide the greatest amount of light during operation and also have an unlimited service life.

The light that these lamps provide is clean and bright, which greatly helps the driver on the road at night. The only drawback of such lighting is that it can blind the driver of an oncoming car. But this can be fixed; you need to switch the headlights in time.

In order to finally decide which bulbs to put in the VAZ headlights, you need to weigh all the advantages of each option. This will make it possible to understand which light will be most suitable for you for safe driving.

How to remove the lampshade and replace the lamp

What types of light bulbs are there for the home
? Since two lampshades are responsible for interior lighting in the VAZ 2114, we will change the light bulbs in both.

General lighting lamp

Let's start with it, since replacing the light bulb in it is simple and won't take much time. First, a little theory. You can turn on this lamp in two ways: by opening any of the doors (mode 1) or by pressing one of the edges of the lamp (mode 2).

That is, the lampshade in this lantern swings around the central axis and acts as a switch.

In the photo the numbers indicate:

  1. Lantern body.
  2. Glass shade.
  3. Swing axis.

In order to remove the lampshade, it is enough to press the side of the housing at the swing axis so that the ebb on the glass comes out of the groove in the housing. This can be done with a flathead screwdriver or even your finger.

First we remove this edge of the glass from the lantern, and the opposite one will come out on its own.

Removing the glass of the general interior lighting of the VAZ 2114

We remove the glass and observe the light bulb, which is clamped by two spring contacts.

Interior light bulb

We press the burnt out light device towards one of the contacts and remove it.

We install a new one in place of the burnt one, simply snapping it into the contacts of the cartridge. We install the glass in the same way as we removed it: we insert one ebb on the glass into the groove of the body, snap the other one, slightly pressing the edge of the lantern with your finger.

Individual lighting lamp

Here we need a small flathead screwdriver to work. We insert the screwdriver into the slot, as shown in the photo below, and snap the flashlight out of the holder.

We take out the flashlight and see two blocks placed on the cartridge (marked with arrows). We remove them by simply pulling them out. In principle, you don’t have to remove the pads, but with them removed you won’t have to work with your hands suspended.

Now we press out the latches one by one, marked with arrows in the photo below, and gradually pull out the cartridge.

The socket together with the light bulb is in our hands.

Slightly recess the lamp, turn it counterclockwise and remove it. We also recess the new lamp and turn it clockwise. We install the socket with the new light bulb in place, making sure that both latches work, put the power blocks on its contacts (polarity may not be observed), install the flashlight in the standard socket and press it until it snaps into place.

Replacement instructions

The procedure for replacing dashboard lamps is not particularly difficult. The only problem may be disassembly, which allows you to remove the backlight panel and get to the light bulbs. The difficulty is that the fastening screws are located at different points, and you need to know their location. Let's consider the process in order:

Required Tools

To replace the light bulbs in the dashboard you will need:

  • a screwdriver with a cross blade;
  • a flat-head screwdriver, preferably with a thin blade for unsnapping plugs and fasteners;
  • pliers for dismantling cartridges;
  • set of replacement lamps.

A small number of necessary tools makes the work convenient and fast. If you plan to make a small tuning - changing the color or brightness of the backlight, then additional devices will be required to remove the factory paint, dismantle the plastic filters and a solvent to clean the remaining paint layer on the back of the instrument panel.

Replacing the backlight

To obtain an even backlight, it is recommended, if possible, to change all the dashboard bulbs at once. Replacing one lamp can create a situation where after a week you will have to repeat the entire procedure in order to change another burnt out lamp. Therefore, experts recommend updating all the lighting at once. It is also advisable to replace incandescent lamps with LEDs - they are economical, have a wide range and provide a large selection of shade and brightness.

How to disassemble the dashboard

First of all, you need to remove the decorative trim from the radio. On the VAZ 2114, the dashboard is mechanically connected to this part, so you need to immediately disconnect it. After this, perform the following steps:

  • Using a flathead and Phillips screwdriver, the decorative casing is disconnected. The steering column should be lowered as much as possible so that it does not interfere with the work. You will have to carefully snap off the decorative plugs and unscrew the 5 screws securing the casing. You also need to remove the handles from the sliders and the heater switch;
  • After disconnecting the screws, the casing must be pulled towards you. You should act carefully; perhaps not all elements have been removed yet and they can be broken. You don’t have to completely remove the casing; there’s enough room to unscrew the mounting screws;
  • To disconnect the dashboard you need a long Phillips screwdriver. Unscrew the screws, tilt the shield towards you and pull out the terminal blocks with connecting wires.

Important! After this, the panel will be completely freed and you can work with it freely

Replacing backlight bulbs

To dismantle the cartridges, it is convenient to use small pliers. They grip the flat back. It is carefully turned half a turn counterclockwise, after which the assembly can be removed from the socket. In a similar way, all elements to be replaced are extracted. Then the lamps are removed and new copies are installed in their place. Insert the cartridges into the sockets and turn them half a turn clockwise to secure them. After this, it is recommended to connect the terminal blocks, apply operating voltage and check the functionality of the light bulbs until the casing is assembled. The vehicle systems are checked:

  • turn on the ignition and check the operation of the oil pressure, generator and check indicators. Raise the handbrake lever and see if the lamp lights up;
  • trigger an alarm to check;
  • switch the high and low beam of the headlights and determine whether the indication works;
  • include dimensions.

If all elements of the lighting system are operating normally, reassemble the dashboard in the reverse order. This completes the process of replacing the VAZ 2114 dashboard bulbs.

Types of light bulbs in PTF

What are the dashboard lights for the Lada Kalina?

Several types of light bulbs are used for lighting:

Halogen light bulbs are the most common. They are considered quite effective and do not blind oncoming traffic. At the same time, such bulbs in the fog lamps of the VAZ 2114 have a short resource and become very hot. Sudden cooling of heated glass can lead to cracks and chips. If, in pursuit of illumination, the driver has installed lamps that are too strong compared to the standard power, this leads to the control unit overheating and the headlights automatically turning off.

LED light bulbs are becoming increasingly popular. They are distinguished by a wide color range, sufficient brightness and efficient power consumption. LEDs heat up slightly and do not overheat the working area of the headlight. Therefore, during long-term operation of the PTF, the headlights do not melt and do not fail. Headlights with such bulbs do not blind oncoming cars. But LED lamps are more expensive than halogen lamps. Careful selection of lamps is also necessary: they are not suitable for all types of headlights.

High power LEDs require a special cooling system.

Gas discharge or xenon lamps are considered the most powerful and efficient. The regulations have strict restrictions on the use of HID lamps. By law, these lamps are used only in headlights marked “D”, equipped with automatic leveling. Their installation and replacement is more complex than the installation of halogen and LED options. If installed correctly, their service life will be about 3 years.

Significant disadvantages of xenon lamps are the high price and the fact that if one of the bulbs burns out, both lamps will need to be replaced.

If both lamps burn out at once, the reason may be that the lamp power is too high. It happens that fuses blow if you drive into the water and the PTF suddenly cools down. Therefore, first check the fuses, the condition of the lamps, and only if they are really burned out, replace them with new ones.

Replacing light bulbs in the dashboard of a VAZ 2114

Replacing light bulbs in the VAZ 2114 dashboard does not require contacting a car service center. You can do it yourself. To do this you will need a Phillips screwdriver and new lamps. Algorithm for performing the procedure:

  1. Remove the decorative trim. To do this, you need to unscrew the fasteners with a screwdriver. You should start removing the part from the bottom, pulling it towards you.
  2. Disconnect the cigarette lighter wire.
  3. Remove the screws from the dashboard trim.
  4. Remove the trim.
  5. Disconnect the wires from the instrument panel.
  6. Unscrew the tidy fasteners. Usually the part is held on by self-tapping screws.
  7. Remove the panel.
  1. Remove the bulb sockets that have failed. To do this, they must be unscrewed counterclockwise.
  2. Remove faulty lamps.
  3. Replace light bulbs.
  4. Check the functionality of the indicators. If they start working, the fault is identified correctly. If this does not happen, another lamp may have burned out, or the cause of the failure may be different. Sometimes it happens that the new light bulb turns out to be defective. To check it or find a non-lit lamp, you can check them with a multimeter. This is done like this:
  • Switch the device to ohmmeter mode;
  • Install one probe to the side of the base, and the second to the patch at its end;

If the arrow of the device moves, the element is working. This method is not suitable for testing LED lamps. In this case, for diagnostics, the multimeter should be set to diode mode. Measurements are carried out according to the same principle, but during the process it is necessary to swap the probes. If the lamp is working, the current should only flow in one direction. But usually a burnt-out element can be identified by eye.

  1. Assemble the dashboard and other elements. The operation is performed in reverse order.

At the end of the work, it is necessary to check the functionality of the dashboard lamps or the entire panel. Some 2114 owners change the bulbs not because they burn out, but to improve the glow or change the color of the dashboard backlight using LED elements. Driving with the instrument panel or individual indicators not illuminated is not prohibited by law. But this causes noticeable discomfort. Failure of the battery warning lights, oil pressure or fuel level may prevent you from noticing a serious vehicle breakdown or lack of gasoline in time. Therefore, it is recommended that a backlight malfunction be repaired immediately when detected.

How to choose lamps

Which mirrors are suitable for the VAZ 2114: we understand the intricacies of choice

According to current rules, tampering with a car's structure is punishable by a fine or even deprivation of a license. Therefore, only an equivalent replacement with the same lamps used by the manufacturer is considered acceptable. However, the attitude of traffic police officers towards the dashboard lighting is more loyal. This is explained by the absence of danger for drivers of oncoming cars.

Most car owners use LED analogues instead of conventional incandescent lamps. This choice is explained by the significant advantages of LED devices compared to traditional lamps:

  • long service life;
  • low power consumption that does not drain the battery;
  • no heating that negatively affects plastic parts.

All lamps are selected according to the following parameters:

  • cartridge type - 2W2;
  • supply voltage - 12 V;
  • power - 12 W.

Sometimes you have to change all the lamps. When purchasing, you need to know how many light bulbs are in the dashboard of the VAZ 2114. For a complete replacement, you will need to purchase:

PurposeQuantity
Panel lighting3 pcs.
Bottom row warning lights12 pcs. (usually not everyone is involved)
BSK (on-board control system)6 pcs.
Battery discharge indicator1 PC.

Usually LEDs are initially installed in the BSK, since it comes as a separate unit. When purchasing replacement lamps, it is not necessary to purchase sockets; they remain operational for a longer period than the lamps themselves. A total of 8 light bulbs need to be replaced. They are the same; when purchasing, you should be guided by the type of cartridge, supply voltage and power.

They are ideal because they are visible from afar. The main representatives can rightfully be considered: Osram and Philips.

Xenon

This is how xenon shines on a VAZ-2114!

10 years ago, xenon technology began to be introduced en masse. Today, no one will be surprised by the presence of xenon lamps in a car. The automotive market for additional equipment provides a wide selection of such equipment that even the cheapest cars began to install such lamps.

Ice lamps

Led lamp on the left, halogen on the right!

A newer and more advanced technology that has burst into the automotive world and has captivated many car enthusiasts. The main advantages are that the lamps have bright and fairly good light even in the daytime, while the electricity consumption is significantly lower than even that of xenon, which is why they have become quite popular. The only drawback remains the price, which is too high.

What kind of base is in the fog lights of the VAZ-2114: what kind of bulbs are there?

Car: VAZ-2114. Asks: Nikolay Kolesnikov. The essence of the question: What is the base in the fog lights of the VAZ-2114, one lamp has burned out?

Hello! I am the proud owner of a VAZ-2114, which has factory fog lights installed. I saw that many people manage to stick xenon there, but I don’t really want to bother, since there is also an ignition unit that needs to be installed, honestly, I don’t even know how to technically implement this.

The lamp has burned out, I want to install LEDs

In addition, one lamp in the PTF burned out. So I decided to install LED lamps in the PTF. Do you think there will be normal light?

I wanted there to be a bright white light, and not like that from ordinary halogens. I would already try it, but I don’t know what size the base is. I recently installed Bixenon headlights, the size is known there - H4. People, tell me, who knows what base is in standard fog lights and how to replace the lamps correctly?

The base may be different

Depending on what type of fog lights are installed in YOUR car, there may be a different base. There can be two bases in total: h4 and h21.

How to choose foglights VAZ 2115 and PTF VAZ 2114

Let's start with the fact that there are several types of fog lights. More precisely, there are two types: regular and universal PTFs. It is important to understand that their effectiveness greatly depends on the quality of the fogs themselves.

Let's move on. Standard PTFs can be original or analogues. In any case, they are produced for a specific car model, have similar mounts, housing, etc. Such PTFs are the easiest to install, especially if the bumper already has places for installation, covered with plugs.

Universal PTFs have a mount that allows them to be installed on different car models; such fog lights can be installed in the area of plugs on the bumper, on the radiator grille, hung on the bumper, etc.

  • Headlights are also divided according to the type of lamps installed: “classic” halogen, more modern xenon or recently introduced LED. PTFs with a halogen lamp are the most affordable, perform well in difficult conditions, provide a soft and warm yellowish glow, which is best suited for rain and fog.
  • PTFs with a xenon lamp shine brighter than halogen lamps, the service life is also 50-60 or even 80-100% longer (provided that high-quality lamps are used). However, the cost of the equipment is much higher; for such lamps it is also necessary to install separate ignition units, correctly connect xenon, etc.

Also, brighter xenon light, which is better than halogen lights on a dry road, often provides worse visibility in fog and rain, since the color temperature is slightly different from halogen headlights, even for xenon analogues that are as close in characteristics as possible.

It is also worth noting that the brighter xenon glow can cause blinding oncoming drivers. Taking into account this feature, PTFs with xenon need to be lowered lower, constantly monitor their adjustment, keep the headlights clean and do not turn on the fog lights under normal conditions (when there is no fog, snow or rain).

  • LED PTFs are more economical in terms of energy consumption and place less load on the battery and wiring. The service life of good quality LED PTFs is usually longer than halogen or xenon ones.

The downside is the high cost of high quality products. Additional requirements should be taken into account during installation, since in case of installation errors or poor ventilation, the LED headlights can become very hot, which renders them inoperable.

Designations of light bulbs, indicators, icons and buttons on the instrument panel of VAZ 2114, 2115

First, let's look at the descriptions and meaning of the panel icons and buttons, regardless of whether the car is equipped with an injector or a carburetor.

Instrument panel diagram VAZ 2114, 2115

1 - Control sensor that measures the temperature of the coolant in the engine cooling system. During normal operation of the power unit, the antifreeze temperature should not exceed 90 degrees. But minimal deviations are sometimes acceptable. If you notice that the engine begins to overheat frequently, be sure to contact a car service center for help. Sometimes the sensor itself may give incorrect results.

2 - A device such as a tachometer processes information that comes from the crankshaft and displays it on the panel. The tachometer readings indicate the number of engine revolutions.

3.4 - Turn indicators. If the indicators flash simultaneously, but slowly, this may indicate a possible problem with the bulbs themselves or in the electrical wiring network.

5 — The most basic element of any instrument panel is the speedometer. Thanks to it, the driver can determine the speed of movement. A slight error in the indicators is allowed, but it should not exceed the indicator by more than 5 kilometers. If such readings differ significantly from the real ones, then most likely the problem is in the speedometer.

6 — Fuel level sensor in the fuel tank. When the level in the tank drops to 6-7 liters, a red light comes on, indicating that the car needs to be refueled.

7 - Low fuel level indicator.

8 — Symbol indicating the light is turned on. It is triggered when the low beam and parking lights are turned on.

9 — The brake light indicates that the vehicle’s brake system is not working correctly. Most often it lights up if there is not enough brake fluid in the car.

10 - A blue light indicates that the high beam headlights are on.

11 — Button for resetting the daily mileage. The total mileage of the car is shown at the top, and the daily mileage at the bottom.

12 - on-board computer display with mileage indicators.

13 — Alarm activation symbol (light). When the emergency light is turned on, the light begins to flash red.

14 — “Check” symbol. It is triggered in case of possible problems with the car’s power unit. There can be many reasons for this, from problems with mixing the combustible mixture with air, to breakdowns of various engine power components. In any case, you need to contact the service for computer diagnostics or repairs.

15 — External air temperature sensor and time indicators. The daily mileage reset button allows you to scroll from the temperature readings to the time readings when scrolling.

16 - Battery charge sensor. Most often it lights up when the battery is almost completely discharged. If the indicator light is very weak or, on the contrary, bright, then the problem may be in the generator.

17 - Handbrake activation icon. It lights up both when the engine is on and vice versa.

18 — Icon showing engine fluid pressure. Usually its appearance indicates an insufficient amount of lubricating mixture. In such a case, be sure to check the oil level. Sometimes the problem can be caused by the oil pump not working properly.

19 - If the engine is equipped with an injector, then there is a reserve icon on the dashboard. Well, if the engine is carburetor, then this is a suction indicator.

WHY DO YOU NEED ALL-WEATHER MODELS

There are several types of lamps, one of which is all-weather. The key feature of this type is that during manufacturing a special coating is applied to the inner wall of the bulb, which has interference properties, which gives the light a yellowish tint. This is done to improve the contrast of the illuminated area, especially during bad weather. For example, the light of an ordinary H4 light bulb is strongly reflected from falling raindrops, which often blinds the driver, interfering with visibility. Yellowish light has a lower degree of reflectivity and is less irritating to the eye when reflected, which is more beneficial for driving in bad weather.

In addition, a car with all-weather h4 lamps is more visible on the road, both in fog and in pouring rain, which significantly reduces the likelihood of a traffic accident.

Article on the topic: How to adjust the carburetor on a VAZ 2109

Safety is a top priority for all-weather models.

The most common types, as shown by the h4 lamp test, are:

  • IPF H4 Superbeam,
  • GENERAL ELECTRIC H4 AllDay,
  • PHILIPS H4 Weather Vision,
  • NARVA H4 Azzurro.

The brightest h4 lamps listed are PHILIPS H4 Weather Vision and GENERAL ELECTRIC H4 AllDay. They show the best results among all-weather ones, however they are much more expensive. All of them are bright enough, but it’s up to you to decide which h4 bulbs are best. It all depends on individual requirements.

When should the side lights be turned on?

The driver is required to turn on the lights whenever there is poor visibility on the road, as well as when driving through a tunnel.

Conditions for poor visibility include:

  • heavy rain/snow;
  • fog;
  • dusk/predawn.

It is very important to turn on your side lights when driving in fog. At the slightest sign of its appearance (especially in the dark), you need to turn on the dimensions, indicating the boundaries of your own vehicle

If you are forced to stop on the side of the road in conditions of insufficient visibility, you should definitely turn on the side lights, and in the dark, also turn on the emergency lights. Such actions will protect you and help other road users not to get into a situation where a car suddenly appears out of the fog/darkness in front of them.

Changing light bulbs is actually easy, I used to always ask my brother, but now I’ll do everything myself. If you need to change the glass on the headlights, they also say there is nothing complicated, that’s what I want to do one of these days

In addition to the dimensions, my brake lights often burned out. I changed them for a long time (a year), but I still got tired of spending money. The technician rang through all the wires and found a hole that closed the circuit through the body. The repair took five minutes, but the problem lasted a year.

Replacement - order

Having figured out how many lamps the dashboard contains, it won’t hurt to find out how to replace them on the 2114th model. The procedure itself is not very complicated, but extremely troublesome.

  1. First of all, you will need to disassemble the shield. The radio tape recorder, heater and ventilation control levers are removed from it.
  2. Then unscrew the screws holding the decorative panel trim. Before doing this, the steering wheel should be moved to the lowest possible position - this way it will not interfere.
  3. Find the screws - there are five of them, and they are closed with plugs. Carefully pry the latter with a knife and pull it towards you. After removing the screws, pull the VAZ-2114 panel towards you.
  4. Now you need to unscrew the two screws holding the instrument panel itself. This is done with a Phillips screwdriver.
  5. Afterwards, the panel is lowered and the opened terminals of the wire loops are disconnected. Then the element is freely taken out.
  6. Next, the damaged light bulb is pulled out - turn it 90 degrees in any direction until the protrusions on the socket fit into the grooves. Then all that remains is to remove the product from the base and put a new one in its place.

As noted above, so that the 2114 panel does not have to be disassembled again after some time, it is advisable to immediately replace all the lamps. This will also ensure an even glow of all elements.

Process Features

To ensure that the process of dismantling and replacing the lighting component is successful, make sure that there is no condensation in the reflector unit. If you still find moisture in the block, clean the drainage channel, which you can find near the mounting of the turn signal light (on the left or right of the car).

We can give some more advice to motorists:

  • take into account the interval from the moment the vehicle's lighting system is turned off. Do not start work immediately after turning off the lighting system, as this may cause burns;
  • Whatever lamp you replace (xenon or halogen), wear protective gloves;
  • Do not replace lighting elements with overly powerful ones, as they can lead to failure of the lighting device.

Lamps used by Lada Samara. 2113, 2114, 2115

It’s always interesting what parts are needed (such things are well reflected in time) and lamps are no exception.

Below is a table from the Automanual website.

You can find out which lamps are installed on your car using the OSRAM car lamp catalogue. Here is the link to the catalogue.

Why use fog lights

Installing xenon in fog lights is an issue that is currently being discussed by many car enthusiasts. Although drivers very often violate one of the important rules for using xenon optics: the presence of an automatic light flow corrector. Is it even legal to install xenon in fog lights?

PTF (fog lights) are designed to ensure normal visibility in fog. It is this requirement that manufacturers of such optics take into account. To achieve this task, fog lights use a special distribution of the light spot and a corresponding cut-off line.

What lamps are in the dimensions of the VAZ 2114

The standard equipment of VAZ 2114 cars includes installation of the following lamps in the dimensions and front/rear headlights:

  1. Front dimensions – W5W;
  2. Stop lights/side lights – P21/5W.

Recently, users are increasingly replacing standard light bulbs in the dimensions of the VAZ 2114 with LED ones, since they have a much longer resource, consume less energy and shine with a beautiful color. In order for the diodes to produce spectacular side lights with a bluish tint, weak 1-5 diode lamps are not suitable. It is better to use 12-15 diodes.

They will give a bright white glow in the daytime, and in the dark this glow will be blue-white. It is advisable to replace all side lights, or at least the front or rear lights on both sides, with such lamps at the same time. In this case, the car looks organic, and the difference in the shades of the glow of the dimensions will not mislead other road users.

What kind of light bulbs are needed?

But some drivers prefer to change the light bulbs on the VAZ 2114 instrument panel to LED lamps. They can be multi-colored or even capable of changing the color of the glow; they shine somewhat brighter than usual. This allows you to change the appearance of the dashboard. In addition, they consume less electricity. Experts recommend not buying the cheapest light bulbs for tidying, but purchasing more reliable ones. Among the halogen ones, products from the Philips and Osram brands performed well. If you buy LEDs, it is advisable to replace the cartridges as well, since they may not work well in old ones. The “fourteenth” uses 2W2 type cartridges. As for LED lamps, we can recommend the Korean Sho-Me SM-T5. They come in red, blue or white. White Sho-Me SM-T5-cap-super diodes from South Korea are also suitable. You can install a Chinese-made SMD LED module.

The base may be different

Depending on what type of fog lights are installed in YOUR car, there may be a different base. There can be two bases in total: H3 and H11.

To be completely sure, I recommend removing the burnt-out lamp and picking up a similar one at an auto store.

In this PTF the base is H4

Installing LED lamps in a standard base

Let's say right away that PTF LED lamps shine worse.

My husband still managed to get the xenon in. Now it’s very cool to drive in the dark, just heaven and earth compared to the factory light.

The lamp base depends on the manufacturer, I personally have Bosch fog lights and have bulbs with an H4 base, but they can also be H3. My light bulbs are made in China, the so-called “halogen xenon”, they shine very well, and most importantly, they are not prohibited in our country.

Which bulbs are suitable for the 2114th model

In general, the current legislation provides for quite serious sanctions against motorists who dare to make any changes to the design of the vehicle at their own discretion. In accordance with the rules, they are obliged to replace components and assemblies only with analogues of those chosen by the manufacturer. Failure to comply with this requirement provides grounds for punishment of the driver.

Thus, more and more owners are installing LED lamps on their 2114 Ladas instead of the standard halogen ones. This choice is easy to justify. In particular, they:

  • consume approximately 8-9 times less electricity, which means the load on the on-board power system is reduced;
  • last 5-10 times longer;
  • give brighter light;
  • practically do not heat up.

Finally, the dashboard looks much more attractive, because the light bulbs can be of different colors - blue, red, green, etc.

The problem is that LEDs cost about twice as much, but this disadvantage is more than compensated by their longer lifespan. In addition, LED lamps are becoming cheaper every year.

Light bulbs for VAZ 2114 foglights: choosing the right one

High-quality fog lights significantly help the driver in poor visibility, in particular when, due to fog, the light from the main optics is completely reflected, forming a “white wall”. And their correct operation depends on what kind of bulbs you installed in the fog lights of the VAZ 2114. The VAZ 2114 is not equipped with standard fog lights. But the market now offers a very wide selection of different options that can help solve this problem:

  1. Ready tuning bumper with PTF.
  2. The bumper is from the older model 2115 with sockets for fog lights.
  3. Installation of ready-made PTF and facing elements.

Installation of ready-made PTF with facing elements is extremely popular

When choosing PTFs, pay attention to their power and types of lamps that can be installed

Reasons for failure of dashboard lights

What kind of bulbs are in the foglights on the VAZ 2114 (Bosch and Kirzhach sockets)
The dashboard lighting performs several important functions in parallel:

  • control. The lamps light up when failures or malfunctions of individual components occur;
  • informational. Notifies the driver in real time about the status of important vehicle systems;
  • decorative In a dark interior, beautiful lighting on the instrument panel decorates and enlivens the front part of the cabin.

The main reason for the failure of light bulbs in the instrument panel is difficult operating conditions - heating, vibration, power surges. This significantly reduces the life of the lamps and causes a lot of problems:

  • burnout of filaments in halogen devices, burnout of current-carrying paths in LED lamps;
  • broken wires or the appearance of an oxide film on the contacts;
  • problems with the fuse box or contact board;
  • somewhere shorted to ground.

Before you try to change the lamps, you should accurately determine the cause of the problems that have arisen, otherwise you will not be able to get the expected result

It is important to know the condition of the fuses and the condition of the wires. The insulation on them often frays and begins to short to ground.

It is necessary to inspect the wiring and replace problematic connections. In addition, you need to clean the contacts. The terminals oxidize and the ability to conduct current decreases. This applies not only to Ladas; such danger is a common “disease” of most cars.

How to replace a lamp

Before replacing the light bulb, you need to buy a new one with the same parameters. It is better to choose reliable brands from well-known manufacturers. Before replacing, it is better to lift the car on a lift or jack, or place it over a hole.

  1. Remove the negative terminal from the battery.
  2. We find the fog lamp power supply.
  3. Slide the rubber protection along the headlight.
  4. Disconnect the connector and block.
  5. We move the spring clips away from the headlight reflector (we remove the loops of the clips from the hooks).
  6. We take out a light bulb with a wire.
  7. We connect and install a new lamp.
  8. We assemble the headlight.
  9. Checking the operation of the new light bulb.

The old light bulb is removed along with the wire. The new bulb should have exactly the same wire as the old one.

Replacing headlight bulbs

  • Disconnect the on-board power supply. To do this, you need to disconnect the negative terminal from the battery.
  • Open the engine compartment.
  • Unscrew the two fasteners from the back of the headlight.
  • Remove the protective cover.
  • Disconnect the electrical connector.
  • Unclip the spring securing the lighting element to the seat.
  • Remove the lamp.

After the new part is installed, you need to connect the negative terminal to the battery and check the functionality of the headlight.

Selecting a lamp for a VAZ-2114 by manufacturer and brand

Lamp type - H4. One lamp combines both high and low beam.

Based on the two components of the headlight design, the lamp is selected at the discretion of the driver. The essence of the H4 lamp, consisting of two filaments, has not changed. A halogen incandescent lamp differs in that the bulb is saturated with bromine or iodine vapor.

The flask is made of quartz glass. This increases the service life and the maximum temperature of the filament. At the same time, the brightness of the headlights increases, which is the most attractive factor in the popularity of the product.

In accordance with European safety requirements, the following products meet the best performance indicators:

OSRAM COOL BLUE INTENCE, no deviations in electrical energy consumption were noted during testing. Low and high beams comply with GOST. Does not blind drivers of oncoming or passing traffic.

In low beam mode, due to the use of a power of 80 W, superiority remained with IPF SUPERDEAM, but at a long distance the illumination was only 70 meters.

NARVA H4 RANGE POWER left great confidence with excellent results in both modes.

The KOITO WHITE lamp from a Japanese manufacturer, showing high-quality light output, does not affect the technical condition of the wiring or other elements of the headlight. Coupled with excellent luminous flux contours, it provides low and high beam illumination areas. The functionality extends to coverage angle and shadow boundary of the path. The protection factor against glare of oncoming cars is also a significant advantage of the device.

Types of headlights

The headlight unit on a VAZ can have two design options:

  • Bosch (BOSH);
  • Kirzhach.

Outwardly they are very similar. Experts distinguish them by small details - the shape of the blender arches or the rotation diffuser. Kirzhach has a long, narrow reflector with a partition and no top wall. Bosch has walls on all sides, and the reflector is short. For an inexperienced person, it is easier to distinguish these designs by the shape of the plug on the back of the headlamp - Bosch products have one and are made in the form of an oval. These subtleties are not accessible to everyone, but only to experienced car enthusiasts.

There are also Chinese analogues of headlight units for the VAZ 2114. They can have any shape, since they are not subject to general standards. Purchasing such products is a big risk. You can, with equal probability, get suitable headlights, or have lighting fixtures that do not match the shape of the sockets.
