Review of wheel rims for Renault Logan
Reading time: 6 minutes
Renault Logan is one of the most popular cars of the joint Russian-French automobile industry, which belongs to the class of budget subcompact sedans and has been produced for 14 years. “Logans” are purchased by a huge number of Russian residents - individuals, taxi companies, organizations, since its price/quality ratio is one of the best in the country.
This reliable car has been used by the owner for many years, and sooner or later the question arises of replacing the discs due to wear or to improve the appearance.
Factors influencing the choice of the right disk.
The wrong choice of disk can result in another breakdown of the car, so experts recommend adhering to the following criteria:
- Purpose of the model: When traveling on flat, open roads, you can install discs with a radius of 15 and 16. In cases of constant driving on country roads, where the quality of the coating is less than optimal, a 14th radius is used.
- Manufacturer. Quality comes first. The main thing is that the model is reliable and provides maximum safety.
- Product type. Select the type of disc (cast, stamped or forged).
- Selection by appearance. Not the first on the list, but it influences the improvement of car tuning.
To imagine what the vehicle will look like from the outside, it’s a good idea to look at photos of Renault Logan equipped with various wheels, presented on the Internet. This will speed up the selection of the desired sample.
What kind of wheels are there for Renault Logan?
The model has been produced since 2004, and during this period only 2 of its generations have changed, and the original body, which underwent minor restyling, was discontinued only in 2021, which indicates the enormous popularity of Logan, so today you can see not only new 2nd generation cars, but also 10 year old Renault Logan.
The size of the rims on the Renault Logan has remained virtually unchanged, however, due to the large number of trim levels of the model, they have different parameters, in particular:
What kind of wheels were installed on different bodies and configurations?
15 years have passed since the release of the first Renault Logan car, and during all this time the car has changed only once. Despite the fact that the first modification has already been discontinued, there are still a huge number of 1st generation cars on our roads, which indicates the popularity of this model.
The wheel rim dimensions also remained the same, with the exception of some additions, in particular, some parameters have changed:
- The bolt pattern of all models is identical, and the wheels on a Logan car are screwed through the central hole using four connecting pins. The hole diameter is 60.1mm;
- The basic car is equipped with 5.53x14 ET43 wheels. The tires used for them are 185/70 R14;
- Renault Logan, different from the basic configuration, is available with wheels with a radius of R15, which are designated 6.03x15 ET43. In this case, 185/65 tires are installed.
These characteristics are common, which makes it possible to use wheels for Renault Logan from such car models as Daewoo Lanos, Kia Rio, Lada Largus, Renault Sandero and Hyundai Accent.
Some car owners don't like the basic size and style of the disc. Gradually they decide to replace it with another, more aesthetic one. For Renault Logan, you can choose wheels with a single central hole, but with a different radius (R):
- for the 14th, 5.5Jx14 ET43, as well as 6.0Jx14 ET38 wheels are suitable. Tires can be taken 165/80 or 175/70;
- For size 15 there is an alternative option 7.0Jx15 ET35 with tire width 195/60. This method is more suitable for Logan operating in winter conditions;
- The 16th dimension is not included in the basic package and allows you to install a smaller profile tire 6.5Jx16 ET35;
- and finally, size 17 is considered an exclusive model. The 7.0Jx17 ET38 alloy wheel with a 205/50 profile gives Logan a real sports car.
How to distinguish original discs from replicas
In order for the driver to choose the right wheels for a Logan and not end up with a fake, he needs to pay attention to some nuances.
First of all, every self-respecting company that produces wheels most often casts the name of its brand on the surface of the wheel. In the case of a fake, the company and markings can simply be scratched on the disk, or even written using a special printer.
In addition, the production of a replica often occurs without strict control and in an artisanal way. This means that the steel is unevenly distributed throughout the volume of the disk, which is easy to check with a wheel balancing machine.
Low quality steel is usually softer than high carbon metal, and an experienced professional can always tell if a disc is genuine just by the sound of a light impact. Also, the car enthusiast himself can try to apply a small scratch to the disc from the inside, and the low-quality steel will instantly appear.
In practice, those car enthusiasts who purchase cheap, low-quality goods more often turn not only to a tire shop to straighten or replace deformed disks, but also to a service station, since uneven distribution of wheel weight often leads to breakdown of the brake system or shock absorbers, and this is felt by the driver himself, when the steering wheel vibrates unpleasantly when driving.

How to choose the right steel wheels
Before purchasing one or another type of steel wheels for a Renault Logan, car enthusiasts must learn a few simple rules given in the following list:
recommends using a disk offset in the range from ET35 to ET43, because other sizes beyond these limits will exert an off-design bending moment on the hub when cornering, which will lead to its failure and subsequent expensive replacement.
Car rim store
Renault Logan is indeed one of the most budget-friendly foreign cars in Russia, and, as a rule, the amount of money in the buyer’s pocket is very limited. This is why citizens often go to various flea markets and buy good used wheels several times cheaper than they would cost new. However, in such cases it is always better to buy a new “stamped” wheel with hubcaps than to expose your car to danger, since old alloy wheels may contain microcracks, and the wheel simply crumbles on the road.

Disk classification
When choosing, of course, you need to take into account parameters such as disk size. It is important to know which one is acceptable for your car brand. In addition, wheel rims differ in material and method of their manufacture. Main types:
Stamped discs are the most common and cheapest. They are made from steel using stamping machines. The price for one such disk, for example, size R15, will be approximately 1500-2000 rubles. This type of disc has become widespread due to the fact that they are pre-installed on cars leaving the factory. The main advantage of this type of rims is that they can easily withstand various types of damage. For example, after falling into a hole, the product can be easily straightened.
Alloy wheels are quite popular. Unlike stamped ones, they are made not of steel, but of aluminum or magnesium alloy. Due to this, cast wheels are much stronger and lighter than their steel counterparts. It is not surprising that you have to pay a lot of money for such quality. Of course, alloy wheels are quite strong, but at the same time they are fragile: if they fall into a deep hole, they can break, but this is perhaps their only drawback.
Finally, the last and highest quality product is forged wheels. In the manufacture of this type, a forging method is used from various materials, which makes the discs light and very durable. They can easily withstand falling into a hole or driving onto a curb at high speed.
It is best to install alloy wheels on this car; they will be resistant to minor damage. Forged ones should be installed on more expensive and durable cars, whose suspension can withstand any impact.
Largus is equipped with Magnetto Wheels
The manufacturer installs 15-inch versions on the Lada Largus, which are supplied by the Magnetto Wheels corporation. Such products have conventional parameter markings in the form: “6×15/4×100 D60.1 ET50”.
Now let's decipher it in parts:
- “6” characterizes the width of the product in inches;
- “15/4x100” - here we have: 15-inch with 4 attachment points to the hub and a distance between the centers of the holes for fasteners equal to 100 mm;
- “D60.1” denotes the diameter of the hole in - the amount of overhang, which in our case is 50 mm.
Tuning ideas
The disks on Logan have been selected and installed, but something is clearly missing. This means only one thing - you need to modernize the appearance of the wheels so that they begin to bring moral satisfaction to the owner.
You should start by selecting bolts with a modernized head - it will transform the Logan and prevent wheel play while driving. The bolts themselves vary in type, style, appearance and even material of manufacture, leaving the car owner’s imagination with a limitless field of choice.
The main criterion when choosing tuned wheel bolts for Logan remains their characteristics. A diameter or thread pitch that does not match the reference one will lead to backlash. Another reason for problems is the use of low-quality products.
In addition to bolts, wheel covers are widely used. Their use allows you to change the appearance of your car's disk for the minimum possible amount. The caps themselves are usually made of plastic and fit any type of wheel. The only drawback is that the caps, due to the resulting play, often fall off the wheel while driving and pose a potential danger to drivers moving behind.
Wheel offset
The international designation ET is from the German word Einpresstiefe. The smaller the offset, the larger the car's track. The wheel protrudes from the wheel arch of the car. There are wheels with negative offset.
Reach is one of the most important indicators of a wheel that affects the stability and controllability of a car. With a reduced offset, on “widely” spaced wheels, the force on the steering wheel, as well as the load on the hub bearings, increases significantly. A wheel with an increased offset is shifted deeper into the wheel arch and can, when turning or large suspension strokes, touch vehicle elements, which will lead to damage. When selecting new wheels, it is not recommended to deviate from the standard offset value by more than 3–5 mm in one direction or another.
Diameter and width
Rim diameter is usually specified in inches. It must match the tire diameter.
The width of the rim is the distance between its edges. Usually it is also indicated in inches, although manufacturers give the tire width in millimeters. The current trend is to increase the width of wheel rims and, accordingly, tires.
Renault Logan 1.4 › Logbook › Once again I’m worrying about wheels
A short excursion: I have 15 stamped discs, both winter and summer. I bought some nice hubcaps for them from the second generation Logan (well, you can see it from the title photos on the main page). And it would seem that they look fine with a white car. But I started to bother. And initially I wanted “BBS” style wheels to really spice up the already budget Logan.
And I really started scratching my head, maybe I should buy a used VSMPO or BKMPO, because judging by the reviews, they are the coolest of the domestic ones. And indeed, their price in used form is no higher than 20k.
Moreover, with such a striking margin, only one model is in the lead, the bulk by 6 kg
In short, there were too many unknowns, such as how much my Vesta stampings actually weigh, how much the average alloy wheel actually weighs, etc. Therefore, in the absence of sensible information on the Internet, I decided to find out everything myself. Armed with an electronic steelyard, I went to a local store with a good selection of alloy wheels. Find your size and start weighing. How I freaked out when I saw that the average alloy wheel weighs MUCH less than what is written in the comparison tables on the Internet.
When I got home and looked at the slick website again, I found that they had almost the same disc model as the one I weighed in the store. Only they have the “forging” type, and in the store they simply have “nounem casting”.
Well, I’m not a metal manufacturing engineer, I could be mistaken, maybe “forging” really has some other advantages besides the name and show-off. But after that I got the impression that they simply have all the blacksmiths and buyers.
Oh yes, there was a Logan-sized stamping there too, I weighed that too.
And here, too, a pleasant surprise, there is no trace of 9 kg. Of course, I don’t have this manufacturer, I have Mefro (this is the property of AVTOVAZ), I don’t know the mass of them. But even if it is exactly the same, you need to put 200-300 grams on the cap, it turns out to be no less than 7.5 kg. In addition, I will surprise you that I found in the store other alloy wheels of 15th radius, although not Logan drill, which had a mass exactly like stamping (7.3) and even more. Therefore, everything here is very individual, you need to measure it.
Well, now about the price. The lightest - 5.62 - are
Heavier, but a little more beautiful, in my opinion:
Here's a short tour of the discs. If anyone disagrees, write in the comments, I’m happy to discuss) I haven’t bought anything yet, these are all just thoughts and samples.
And without caps, the 15th stampings look so scary)

Choosing wheels for Renault Logan and Renault Megane
The French corporation Renault Group (today it owns half of the shares of the Russian AvtoVAZ) in the late 90s began developing a car that could be used in conditions of bad roads and harsh climatic conditions.
It was Logan, and Russia was among the countries for which this model was intended. Already in 2005, our fellow citizens were able to appreciate the quality and reliability of Logan, since they began to assemble it “in their native lands.”
Another 5 years later, Megane was put into production, which by that time was no longer a newcomer to the car market. You will find out further how all this happened. In the article we will also look at what tires and wheels for Renault Logan and Megane are included in the factory equipment, and what can be used to replace them.
Tire and wheel sizes for Renault Logan
15 years after its creation, Logan’s popularity has only increased, and in 2021 it became the best-selling Renault product in Russia.
The company began implementing the project by purchasing the technically backward, but conveniently located automobile manufacturing company Dacia in Romania.
Over time, as usual, the car was restyled, because the manufacturer’s task is not only reliability, but also modern design. As already noted, with
In 2005, the production of these cars was established in Russia, on the territory of the Moskvich association purchased by the French. In 2015, the production of the first generation Logan at this enterprise was completed due to the transfer of capacity to AvtoVAZ.
Wheel size
Sometimes car owners are offered to buy wheels second-hand, which is why they begin to wonder what kind of cars the wheels fit for Logan. The Largus will definitely fit - it was designed on the basis of the Renault Logan, so their wheel sizes are the same.
There is no need to measure wheels from any other cars, despite the fact that the 4*100 bolt pattern is quite common. It's all about the size of the hub: 60.1 - only for Renault cars.
Note: If the hole is smaller, the disc will not fit on the hub. You can still use a central center with a larger diameter if you find centering rings of the right size.
For example, the Mazda MX5 / Miata92 has the right size, even the disc offset. And their hub is larger (64.1) - which means they need an adapter with a transition to 60.1.
Finding this size of rings will be very difficult, so you can only look for used wheels for Logan within your brand (Laguna, Megane, Clio, Scenic).
So, let's see what size disks can be installed on Renault Logan according to the manufacturer's recommendations:

What size wheels can be installed on Renault Logan
It happens that drivers are not satisfied with the current size or style of factory wheels, or old wheels become unusable, and they think about replacing them. So, the driver can choose wheels with a single drill, but in the following radius options:
- R14 - these wheels are equipped with every car in the economy version, but if for some reason the owner does not fit the standard size, he can put 5.5J x 14 ET43 or 6.0J x 14 ET38 on his Logan. These parameters will ideally correspond to 165/80/R14 or 175/70/R14 tires, and the manufacturer will not void the vehicle warranty when using such wheels and tires.
- Wheels for Logan , size 15 - if a car enthusiast often travels out of town or uses his “iron horse” a lot in the winter, he can find an alternative to factory wheels by installing them with parameters 7.0J x 15 ET35, which will give him the opportunity to increase tire width up to 195/60/R15. Wheel sizes R14 and R15 are most often produced under the brands Magnetto, K&K, Replika or Tech Line.
- R16 - this dimension is not included in the database, and the wheel arches, in principle, are not designed for such large wheels. However, no one is stopping car enthusiasts from installing a smaller tire profile in combination with 6.5J x 16 ET35 or 7.0J x 16 ET35 casting, giving their car a very stylish look. These options are offered in the market by companies such as Venti, Aero, X-Trike and Neo.
- R17 - are considered a real exclusive when installed on Renault Logan, moreover, they are not so easy to find in 4x100 bolt pattern. When a car owner wants to give his Logan the look of a real sports car, and the budget allows it, he chooses 205/50/R17 tires on 7.0J x 17 ET38 alloy wheels. The best manufacturers here are Vossen, SKAD and some other, more expensive brands.
Wheels for Megan
Time flies by, especially when it comes to cars. Manufacturers will not have time to present one model, but you can already see that they are celebrating the birthday of a new one. This was the case with another popular brand Megane from the French corporation Renault, which since 2010 has been produced in Russia using large-unit assembly technology.
Cars of different generations differ not only in appearance, they were equipped with new engine modifications, which also affected the size of the wheels.
Tire and wheel sizes for Renault Megane I (1996-2001)
The first-generation Megan was a small-class family car, available in five body styles. In addition to the traditional sedan, station wagon and hatchback, there were also coupes and convertibles.
Many of these cars still run quite vigorously on our roads, so let’s get acquainted with the size of its “shoes”:

Megan II (2002-2007)
Thanks to its excellent driving performance and original design, Megan's popularity has increased. In particular, despite the fact that there is already a fourth generation, the second is still in excellent demand in the Russian secondary car market.
Traditionally these are sedans and hatchbacks in three-door and five-door versions. Only the convertible did not gain the favor of our car enthusiasts, because in the realities of our climate you can’t really travel with a convertible top.

The fourth incarnation of Megane began in 2015 with the Frankfurt auto show, where the updated hatchback was presented. He became larger and acquired many new features, and in appearance he began to look completely different.
Megane IV
A year later, at an exhibition in Geneva, the French demonstrated the Megane 4 Estate - a cargo-passenger version in a station wagon body, distinguished by a harmonious and sporty profile.
It was followed by a sedan, replacing the version that had been produced since 2009. And also two sports versions were presented to the world - the new Megane IV GT (2015) and the updated Megane RS (2018). The list is quite large, each model has several modifications.

Since the summer season, which for motorists, as you know, does not begin according to the calendar, but as soon as the snow melts, is in full swing, we will try to find out which summer tires for Renault Logan are best to choose.
To do this, consider the results of a test run conducted by the Hungarian magazine Autonavigator. The size 205x55x16 is the most popular for class “C” cars, which includes Megan. True, in this competition the tire carriers were other cars.
There were 18 participants in total, the selection of whom turned out to be very interesting. The fact is that six all-season tires and three sets of tires, the names of which were not announced, competed with nine purely summer models.
The reason is that these tires were worn out, and two of them were not even summer, but winter. This was done by the organizers in order to show with their own eyes whether it is possible to drive on winter tires in the summer.
How to measure braking distance
We tested: braking distance on dry and wet asphalt, highway speed, aquaplaning resistance, wear resistance and acoustic comfort.
Here is what the list of participants looked like at the finish line, according to their places:
1 – Michelin Primacy 4
On dry asphalt, this Michelin had the shortest braking distance. On the wet track, this model took only fifth place, but due to its excellent lateral stability it was able to take the championship.
2 – Continental PremiumContact 6
In exercises for measuring braking distances, which give tires the most significant points, this tire was not the first. However, based on the totality of results, Conti 6 occupies a leading position in all tests.
3 – Bridgestone Turanza T005
The Japanese Turanza invariably pleases with its driving performance, which it demonstrates in any tests. Including, it compares favorably with other models of its own brand.
4 – Hankook Kinergy Eco 2 K435
Following the three premium winners, 4th place went to a tire from the middle price category - the Korean Hankuk. In terms of price-quality ratio, all experts unanimously call it the best. By the way, in terms of lateral stability it was second only to Michelin.
5 – Davanti DX390
The British-made tire, which was not even available for sale in all European countries, was able to immediately take fifth place right off the bat. However, experts are in no hurry to recommend it for use, since tires from different batches can show completely different characteristics. In general, they still need to prove themselves.
6 – Continental AllSeasonContact
The Continental all-season tire showed the best results in the test for wear resistance and fuel efficiency. The brakes were so-so, letting the worn summer tires pass ahead.
7 – Michelin CrossClimate+
But the Michelin all-season car braked perfectly, finishing third on dry asphalt. On wet surfaces, the braking distance was worse, but lateral stability turned out to be the best.
As a result, all all-season models were in the rear, but against their background, Michelin showed itself better than others.
8 – Bridgestone Weather Control A005
The all-season model from Bridgestone showed almost the same results, and therefore turned out to be next door to the Michelin one.
9 – Firestone Roadhawk
A strong mid-ranger from the same Bridgestone, noisy, but quite economical.
10 – Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance
In the stopping distance exercise, Goodyear came in first and second. So why did she end up in 10th place? She successfully failed all other tests, and therefore topped the list of outsiders.
11 – MOMO Tires Outrun M20
The tires are Chinese, budget, and, judging by the space they occupy, they showed very good results.
12 – Kleber Quadraxer 2
The tire is French, from the budget segment. There was nothing remarkable about it, and it braked almost as well as worn-out winter tires.
13 – Barum Bravuris 5HM
The new economy class model from Continental was declared by the manufacturer as high-performance and very stable. She did not demonstrate anything like this in this competition - hence the place close to the tail.
14 – Vredestein Quatrac 5
The same can be said about the Dutch Vredestein tire. It, like all tires with all-season tread, will perform much better on dirt roads and at lower (close to zero) temperatures. But on the asphalt she feels out of place.
Selecting tire pressure
For a comfortable ride, it is important to choose the right pressure, since the smoothness, maneuverability and safety of the vehicle depend on it. It is also important to note that there are certain requirements provided by the manufacturer itself, so the consumer requires special attention to detail in this matter.
It is important to remember that winter requires one pressure, and summer requires a completely different one. The fact is that incorrect pressure can cause inconvenience when driving. An individual attitude to the choice of tire pressure type allows you to avoid dangers when driving depending on weather conditions. It would also be a good idea to take into account the recommendations from the following table.
A car is not just a means of transportation, it is a real assistant, so you need to choose tires very carefully.
