The topic will be of interest to newcomers to driving, who will ask the question: “what should I do with the car?” Another goal is to preserve and remember some rare parts, even those that have gone out of use, because everyone who modifies a car sometimes wants to install something unusual. INSTRUMENT PANEL UPGRADES
The main problem of the dashboard on the VAZ 2110 is that it is very soft and can be deformed even when poked with a finger. Therefore, car owners strive to strengthen it. Here's what you need for this:
- screwdriver with a set of open-end wrenches;
- sandpaper;
- epoxy resin;
- polyurethane foam;
- fiberglass.
SEQUENCING
The main thing that the driver must understand is that you need to work with the panel very carefully. It's easy to break.
- Since it is impossible to work with the panel inside the cabin, it will have to be removed by unscrewing the fasteners with a Phillips screwdriver.
To modernize the dashboard it will have to be removed from the “ten” - The removed panel is thoroughly cleaned of dust and dirt. This is done using a piece of dry rag.
- A thin layer of polyurethane foam is applied to the cleaned outer surface of the panel.
- When the foam hardens, it is given the desired shape using sandpaper.
The polyurethane foam on the surface of the panel hardened and was treated with sandpaper - The resulting surface must be strengthened. To do this, fiberglass is laid on it in several layers, which is fixed with epoxy resin. After the glue has dried, the surface is sanded again.
- Now all that remains is to cover the panel with high-quality vinyl film. Its choice depends on the driver’s preferences. Many people choose film painted to look like carbon.
IMPROVING INSTRUMENT LIGHTING
The dashboard lighting on the VAZ 2110 has never been bright, since it uses ordinary incandescent light bulbs. Therefore, drivers often replace them with LEDs. They are brighter. And they last longer.
SEQUENCE OF OPERATIONS
To install the LEDs, you will first have to remove the instrument cluster from the panel. The light bulb sockets are located on the back wall of this unit, and there is no other way to reach them.
- The steering wheel of the car is set to its lowest position.
- Use a Phillips screwdriver to unscrew two self-tapping screws located above the devices.
- After this, the decorative trim can be pulled out by pulling it towards you.
- Below it there are 3 more screws that hold the instrument unit with light bulbs. The screws are unscrewed with the same Phillips screwdriver.
- The instrument unit is removed. All wires are disconnected from the rear panel. The incandescent light bulbs are removed and replaced with LEDs.

Tuning headlights VAZ 2110
Well, let's continue tuning the VAZ 2110 at home. After new bumpers have been installed, the radiator grille has been replaced with a more attractive option, and the rear and front wheels have acquired new shapes, you can move on to tuning the optics. It’s no secret that the “original” Lada lights do not stand up to serious criticism, so their upgrade is not only desirable, but also necessary.
As a rule, car enthusiasts follow one of two paths - installing new LED lights or tuning existing ones. And if the first option does not raise any questions - everyone selects lanterns at their own discretion, then the second option requires some explanation. Refinement of optics consists of tinting - painting, and the color and intensity of illumination does not change. This is very simple to do - just remove the headlights (to get a complete picture, it is recommended to tint both the front and rear lights) from the car and separate the glass from the sealant. After this, you need to clean and degrease the surface, and then proceed directly to painting. It is done with heat-resistant paint, in an even layer, without affecting the headlight glass.
After the paint has dried, the lights are put in place. At this point, tuning the headlights of the VAZ 2110 can be considered complete
STEERING WHEEL COVER
Without braiding, the steering wheel on the VAZ 2110 seems thin and slippery, which does not have the best effect on driving safety. So after buying a car, car owners usually install a braid on the steering wheel. You should choose size “M”, intended for steering wheels with a diameter of up to 39 cm (this is the standard wheel for the VAZ 2110).

ABOUT REPLACING SEATS

Tuning the VAZ 2110 engine and transmission
You need to start engine tuning by improving the “breathing” of the engine, i.e. First of all, you need to provide the engine with a good air flow. Replacing such a simple part as an air filter will increase engine power by up to 8%. Immediately after the old filter, you need to remove the entire throttle assembly, because it will be able to provide the necessary amount of air for the process of preparing the fuel mixture.
Naturally, you will have to spend money on an intake receiver, before you have to make a choice - where will you need more power at low speeds, or is it necessary for the car to feel more confident at high engine speeds? It should be noted that replacing the exhaust receiver and camshaft should only be done under special conditions in a professional service center, because Carrying out this work yourself may require additional costs for repairs and delivery of the car by tow truck to the same service center.
Naturally, this modification will necessarily require replacement of the intake system. For example, you can install a 4-2-1 manifold, where gases will first merge into two pipes and then be combined into a common stream. Engine chip tuning would also be a good idea.
Having started tuning the VAZ 2110, you can also modify the standard transmission. For example, a sixth gear would not be superfluous (although “adding” it would be very labor-intensive and time-consuming). But such an addition justifies itself - when installing such “short” gears, you can provide the opportunity for a quick and rapid increase in speed and the engine reaching maximum power.
Therefore, you need to immediately take into account the task for yourself: do you need to rarely change gears or very often turn to the gearshift knob? Don't forget about the clutch, because...
