If we get ahead of ourselves, the increase only with the help of firmware (chip tuning) can reach up to 30 - 40% of power, just think about it! Let's say you had 150 hp on a TURBO engine. and it became 180 - 200 hp!

To be fair, it is worth noting that it is on turbocharged engines, no matter whether it is gasoline or diesel, that you should expect a maximum increase in power.

On conventional naturally aspirated engines, the increase is not so critical; nevertheless, ordinary “aspirated” engines are often “chipped” in order to remove the catalyst and remove “blunts” when “starting off”, which are caused by environmental restrictions. However, it is possible to “boost” the power up to 15–20%.

I decided to flash the firmware for my car, even though I was tired of this firmware. Firstly, this is not a guide to action, you do everything at your own peril and risk! I will describe everything here in general terms, because this is my first acquaintance with this process and software. For the work I needed a Phillips screwdriver, a ratchet with 8 and 10 heads, a T15 sprocket, a soldering iron, PAK loader v3, a laptop, a power supply from a computer (modified ), multimeter, software list: ChiptuningPRO 7, CombiLoader 2.15. First, unscrew the air duct cover near the passenger’s feet, it is secured with 1 bolt

I didn’t take any further photos, I’ll describe it this way: select the version of our brains in the left menu, press the read button below to read the current firmware, then save it with the blue floppy button, done, the current firmware is saved! Now we either download from the Internet, or modify the current firmware via ChiptunePro (whichever you prefer) and open it in the combo: File-open, and press record. The program will ask you that everything will be erased, we agree, then it will ask whether we will flash it through diagnostics or not, we agree again, a couple of minutes and the whole machine is flashed!

In principle, there is nothing complicated in flashing a car, I did it the first time, I took the ready-made firmware, but modified it a little in the chiptune program (I made the cutoff higher and lowered the tropical mode from 105 degrees to 97). The reprogramming procedure does not depend on the make of the car or the number of camshafts with 8-valve or 16-valve mechanisms. Chip tuning of the Priora engine consists of four stages:

  1. Reading the standard program in the ECU - this procedure is carried out through the OBD diagnostic connector.
  2. Editing a downloaded program.
  3. Uploading the edited, firmware program back to the controller.
  4. Checking the operation of all vehicle components on a special stand equipped with instrumentation and mechanical rollers, or in the field.

Chip tuning of the Priora engine using RaceChip

RaceChip is a special module with which you can perform chip tuning of a Priora engine. In a car store or car market, you can purchase the necessary kit, which, in addition to the module itself, includes clamps, a connecting cable, instructions for installation on your car model and a warning lamp.

First of all, turn off the ignition and open the hood. After making sure that the ignition is turned off, close it, leave the cabin and wait 5-10 minutes to make sure that there is no residual voltage. At this time, you can hear either a crash or even a specific hum. When all extraneous sounds disappear, it means that there is no more residual current either. Now you can lift the hood and begin installing the module. Be careful and remember that the engine can be very hot!

We need to remove the cover from the engine and find the fuel rail. It is easy to identify by the metal tubes that extend to each of the cylinders. Now you need to find the pressure sensor, or rather its three-pole plug connector, which is located at the end of the fuel rail. Disconnect the plug and pull it out. Then we need to insert the cable plug into the sensor, after which a characteristic click will be heard. We connect the plug that was removed earlier to the cable on its opposite side. And again, when connected, a characteristic latch sound should appear.

We have installed the cable, but we need to check the connection, and this is where a test lamp comes in handy. As soon as you turn on the ignition, the light will start to light continuously, if, of course, everything is connected correctly. If not, you need to turn off the ignition again and recheck everything.

But it may happen that the reason is not in the cable, and that you installed it correctly, the problem lies in the plug, which was removed from the sensor when connected to the opposite end of the cable, it could have been rotated 180 degrees.

When we are convinced that everything is working normally and the warning lamp is on, turn off the ignition again, completely close the car and wait for the lamp to go out.

Now you can install the RaceChip, having first removed the warning lamp. We tighten the module until it stops, after which we secure the cable with the clamps that come with the kit. It will be better if you attach the new cable to existing cable channels; they are located in such a way as to avoid contact with highly heated parts of the collector, for example. Once secured, remove the protruding ends from the clamps. RaceChip is installed, and at this point we can assume that chip tuning of the Priora engine is completed.

What does this modification of the engine give? First of all, an increase in power. And not by a few horses, but by more than 30%!

How does this happen practically? RaceChip will activate and put to work hidden engine capabilities that were not previously used. Of course, an increase in power will lead to increased wear and tear on the power unit, but if you are not going to use the Priora for more than 5 years, such chip tuning is completely justified.
